This place is pretty amazing. Small pop up joint in a sweets shop and he does big flavored! Abraham roasts all of his meats, makes his sauces and his kimchee! The flavors are bold, sandwiches are good sized and he’s an awesome chef. I can’t wait to come back and try another one. I had the koreamoku and it was killer. Highly recommend this spot!

Yesterday, on my walk back, I was shocked when I saw the«Sammies» chalkboard out on the sidewalk. There aren’t a lot of places around town with overstuffed sammiches, sub style, and after finding Sammies on Unilocal I had been lusting after the photos. The only catch? They only opened for lunch hours from 11 – 2, on weekdays. Until now. I read the sign on the door, indicating exciting new night hours on Mondays, and stepped in to check it out. It’s in the same place as The Little Oven café, a little hole-in-the wall on King. The bar and café seating are really quite charming, and the lighting is warm and pleasant. Abe was sitting on the side, and cordially greeted me as I asked about his menu. Since I discovered the Unilocal page, I’ve been meaning to try the Porker(I mean, garlic choi sum on roast pork? yuuum), until I had a chance to chat with Abe. He said that he makes his own Kimchee for the Koreamoku sandwich($ 11), and that it was getting pretty popular. I’ve been lucky enough to grow up with a mother who really appreciated good kimchee: she made her own tubs from fresh wonbok, cabbage, or cucumbers. She also pushed me to try the unique variations that all the korean market ajummas concoct. Everyone who makes their own kimchee has an individual or family twist that can be fun to explore. The Koreamoku also had roast pork, cheese, cucumber slices, and sauce on a fresh roll. It’s a little pricier, but I can say without hesitation that it hit the spot. The kimchee had plenty of red pepper flakes, and wasn’t sour — maybe made fresh? Either way, if you like kimchee, you’ll probably like this sammie. I also picked up a French Dip sammie($ 9) for my friend, who noted the incredible tenderness of the roast beef and the sweet flair on the caramelized onions. Both sandwiches came with au jus, although they would have been amazing even without it. A show that I saw on food network featured a restaurant with gluttonous subs, containing steak, fries, onion rings, mozzarella sticks, chilli, and more. While I won’t find that level of indulgement in Oahu yet, Sammies comes pretty close to the mark. Fresh, quality ingredients, at only a few dollars more than a subway sandwich make this one a no-brainer. Stop by if you get the chance, especially now that they have evening hours! Next time, that Porker will be mine.

My husband and I have been meaning to try this place out after seeing Unilocal reviews it’s right by my office, but I could never find it. Pro tip– it’s in(in the same store as) the The Little Oven dessert shop. Same shop but open mon-third 11 – 2. Sandwiches during the day. Desserts on the weekend evening. We finally ate here to day. We tried the French dip and the Cuban. The meat is tender and juicy the flavors were balanced and wonderful. I liked the French dip au jus– it wasn’t too salty, the bread become the perfect texture, and the beef is really tender and flavorful. My husband preferred the Cuban which was also amazing. Abe makes is own mustard! The sandwiches are big and a good value. $ 9-$ 11 depending on what you get. The ice tea was also good! Abe has a friendly, fantastic personality and also let us try his short rib he was experimenting with. OMG. I hope he has it available soon!!! It was PERFECTLYCOOKED!!! He even told me all about his fancy cook machine when I asked. We will be back over and over. I went back to my office to tell my coworkers. One of them knew all about and also raved about it. Amazing. You HAVE to try!!!

Sammies’ sandwiches exceeded my expectation on my first visit. Chef Abe made all the ingredients for his sandwich menu and all are cooked to perfection. Must try his koreamoku sandwich — perfect combination of roasted pork & kimchi and explosive flavor in every bite! Worth every penny!

Yessss, a pop-up in Little Oven? Abe, who formerly owned Tiki Truck, brings back his deeeelicious crack sauce, but in sandwich form. And it’s damn good! All meats(except the pastrami, which is sourced from the East Coast and is really good) are cooked in house, so dip your sandwich into the yummy goodness that is the au jus, because it is super flavorful! The crunchy, yet soft bread is a great textural component to the sandwich. I got to try the porker(oh yum!!) and the pastrami with pickled won bok(winnahs!), both were delicious! Quality sandwiches sold here, check it out and become a fan! :)

My friend took me here after his first visit and this place exceeded my expectations. This pop up is located at The Little Oven Monday — Thursday for lunch. We came in right around noon for lunch and the tables were taken so we sat at the bar. Took a look at the menu on the white board and decided to order the French dip. The bread was crunchy but not overly crunchy that it would make a mess everywhere. I got to try my other friend sandwiches as well. The koreamoku was good. Definitely will come back and try some other sandwiches. The dip he makes with the sandwiches are appropriately named crack sauce.

Best sammies on the island, Chef Abe makes magic in his spare time. Great little pop up lunch spot in the Little Oven. Does his prep off site, but constructs these gems in front of you from a grip of ingredients. Bread is light and perfectly textured, the meats are slow roasted keeping them juicy and tender. The hoagies are served with an excellent au jus that is made from the roasts, and it goes well with all of the offerings. The sauces and aiolis are unreal, try ask for the mango hot sauce if you like a little kick. My favorite is the pork. Each are assembled by the chef so best not to come here when you’re in a rush.

Saaaaaandwiches! I met Abe through a friend and when I heard he had opened a sammy shop I knew I had to pay him a visit. There’s a serious shortage of quality kick-ass sandwiches in this town and I’ve been praying for someone to step up to the plate to feed my belly! Abe’s pop-up is located inside the Little Oven during the weekdays, located on King Street past Keeuamoku. It’s a one man operation and Abe makes everything himself. The meats are all roasted or sous vied for 36 hours and the flavor, oh Lord the flavor! Whether you’re getting a french dip or chicken or pork sammy, the meats all melt in your mouth and are unbelievably tender. The bread Abe has chosen for his sandwiches are pretty damn close to perfect! It’s crispy on the outside while still remaining soft on the inside. There is nothing worse than your jaw being sore from eating a hard loaf of bread, am I right?! If you’re in a rush you most likely should choose another day or time to visit Sammies. It’s slow food and will taste best if you enjoy it at the counter while talking story with Abe. I have a lot of respect for him because you can tell that he just wants to make you happy with his food and like any true artist, puts his heart and soul into everything he makes. Sandwiches run around the $ 10 range but I’d recommend getting«the Sleeper» for $ 15 if he’s not completely slammed with sandwich orders. It is stuffed to the brim with delicious meats and you’re going to need to take a big old nap after you eat it. Each sandwich also comes with a cup of au jus for your total dipping pleasure. P. S. Abe also does private events and catering so be sure to hit him up if you’re looking to put together a fancy night of food in your own home.

This place makes some mean sammies! For around $ 10 you get a hefty sandwich that can be substituted as a club to smack someone who tries to take your sammie! I like the addition of local asian veggies and flavors that add a nice toss up to the typical sandwich offerings. I wanted to call in a work order but it doesn’t seem like he takes phone orders — no info anywhere. I guess he’s afraid of being overrun with phone orders. We had time, so we headed down and waited for 8 sammies. We were all satisfied. There was some good weight to these sammies that you can’t find at any other sandwich shop. If you’re in the neighborhood, I would definitely get a sammie.

The food: It’s a small menu but the food was good. A little on the pricey end. The sandwich was reasonably large but there was no side. Location: convenient if you work in the neighborhood and plenty of street parking on the other side of King. Not particularly comfortable, but clean. You could als just pick up a sandwich and eat at the park across the street. The map wasn’t accurate. It’s on ground level next to the Mobi dealer. Apparently this is a shared space with an evening time dessert restaurant. sharing space is a good thing, especially for smaller niche businesses.

Sammies is a popup sandwich shop inside The Little Oven’s space. The guy who runs it used to have a food truck(Tiki Truck) and has been doing catering since then. Drove across town to come here with a bunch of coworkers and we ordered him out of roast beef before noon. I tried the French Dip(sliced roast beef, provolone cheese, caramelized onions, and«crack sauce») and the Porker(sliced roast pork, provolone cheese, choi sum, and«crack sauce»). Drove 20 mins back to the office before eating them, which took a bit of a toll on the aesthetics and the bread, but they were still delicious! As far as sandwiches go, these are top notch. Proportions of meat, cheese, bread, sauce, and vegetables were just about perfect. Good bread and nice, tender sliced meats. The au jus makes them even better. Five stars for the food. I was surprised to see an agua fresca on the menu as his only drink. Not a common sight in Hawaii and especially not at some random sandwich shop(but it turns out the owner is originally from California, which explains it). The watermelon, mint, lime agua fresca was refreshing and had nice little pieces of the fruit in there to keep it interesting. Definitely recommended. Considering that we came in and ordered 8 sandwiches at once, that all he has is an electric griddle and a couple of sterno chafing dishes, and that he only just officially opened yesterday, the speed of the service was acceptable, but there’s definitely some room for improvement on this front. I’m assuming this will improve once he’s been open for a while longer. I appreciate that he took the time to converse with us while he was preparing our food too. I think this was partially to distract himself from his own nerves because we were all just silently watching him make our food at first, haha. Conclusion: good sandwiches, good drink(singular for now), and overall loses maybe just half a star for the wait time.
