Craving for chinese food, my family came here. Although the restaurant was not full, our wait for a table was long. We had to get our own menus. Waited a very long time for a waiter to take our order. Apparently they were short staffed and the waiter apologized many times. We had their television to keep our attention which was the cooking channel, making us all the more hungrier. However when our food arrived and eaten, we were very much satisfied.

Sorry, late review. Had my wife’s Half Century Celebration here. Originally reserved five tables. That morning kids called me and told me to increase to eight. When I called them, they said no more room. Maybe seven tables. Okay. I will take what I can knowing not everybody will show up. Kids get there before us, gives them a hard time because only seven tables. I tell them no worries. Poor staff trying so hard to accommodate eight tables. And they were stressing. I kept telling them no need but they said they’ll work on it. We had the buffet, and all was taken care of. For a Buffet style meal, our guests were happy. Praises went to the Ginger Chicken, Kau Yuk, Crispy cake noodles, and black bean clams. All followed close with the salt/pepper shrimp, fruits and soft serve ice cream. As predicted, not everyone came and we didn’t need those extra tables. Regardless of all that stress that I fully apologize for. They only charged me for the people that came, applied all the senior and keiki discount. Gave me an additional discount, and presented my wife with a golden koi pudding made with mango. The discounts and pudding was a surprise to me as after all that problems my guest made. From loose balloons, to loose kids. I left a big tip. No explanation was needed. I even apologize from my end, and the manager showed me real appreciation for my business. They got my kudos and endorsement.

Not bad. Though it could have been better. Here are my reasons for 3⁄5 stars. Let’s start with the Pros: 1) Acceptable price. Most buffets I saw at Hawaii are super expensive, especially in the Waikiki area. Once in a while, it would be nice to have a buffet for the locals, especially price affordable by the locals. 2) It’s good to have buffet like these in Hawaii. Hawaii needs more of these buffets &NOT those expensive ones that the tourist usually goes to in Waikiki. Like I said, Hawaii needs a buffet for the locals, not just for tourists. Now the Cons – & please follow these suggestions/comments I stated below for further improvement. 1) Buffet NEEDS more variety. Since your restaurant serve lobsters & Dim Sum separately, I do recommend have those«1-day a week Special» where you decided to have the lobsters/Dim Sum TOGETHER with the buffet. That way you’ll attract more customers. 2) Some of your cooking needs work. Especially the basics like fried rice, orange chicken, & chow mein. Please work on that. Overall, not bad & definitely earned a 3⁄5 stars from me. Fix your minor mistakes & I assure you, your scores might improve. Good luck with your business

Food was cold and the buffet was not attended. I had to ask someone to replenish the food. Service was horrible also.

I think they have a different cook, because the food used to be much better. We bought some take out oyster sauce chicken with cake noodles, and were pretty disappointed. Chicken was dry and bland, noodles were hard. I mean really hard. Probably will look for a different place to get the occasional Chinese dinner.

The buffet has a good selection. Though the food taste needs work. I found the food to be bland and unremarkable in taste and presantion. The waitress was rude, when we walked in. We have a stroke patient who has trouble walking and said sit there. Which was across the room with no place to walk. You can’t miss he needs closer seating. I tried about 10 different items and was not impressed at all. This would be a great place to grab a quick lunch, if you are in a hurry. We did not try the menu items and this review is based on the buffet only.

I like to give good reviews but in all honesty, I can’t do it for this place. Let’s start with the good points, the parking is so-so, about half of the food was decent, prices were decent and the A/C works fine. On the bad side, there were flies around the buffet items, many of the sauces were slimy(which usually means lots of MSG), their dim sum was pretty tasteless and the carpets and tables were old and not well maintained. We went just as the restaurant was opening up so got to see the entrees as they came out. Some of them like the eggplant with pork, sweet sour pork, garlic chicken were very good but as mentioned earlier, the gravy was very slimy. The egg drop soup was fine. They were very light on salad so folks who prefer a vegetarian fare, may not want to go here. The servers were bustling around but with a buffet, you’d think they would be faster in refilling drinks bussing tables and ringing up bills. It’s not the worst Chinese restaurant I’ve been to but definitely isn’t the best.

Me & my little family liked it a lot. The fried foods were crisp & everything else was very flavorful. Best ice cream served at a buffet restaurant that’s for sure! My kids were happy(: Bathroom is also clean unlike other buffets I’ve been to. Only one stall but still tidy.

The reason they got 2 stars is the service is very well and they always come by to fill up water and take your plates away in a timely matter. The food is not the greatest. A lot is overcooked, to much salt, dry, or has no flavor

Ok, I am the kind of person that likes old, out of the way food restaurants. Establishments with character. However, when I walked in here I instantly felt the hair on the back of my neck stand up. When I went to wash my hands in the men’s restroom there were approximately 15 used air fresheners in there. All of them seemed to have been there for years. It smelled horrible. I’ve been to public or bar restrooms that smelled better. For some reason they had mothballs in their urinals. So, it smelled of crap, pee, and old mothballs. Not sure what they were trying to accomplish in there. But, I’m guessing it’s their way of saying«get out…» Walking by the kitchen I could see that it too seemed to be filthy. Aromatically and visually it was a very scary place. But, for some reason my in-laws wanted to eat here. Hoping for the best, I tried their buffet. Thankfully the food tasted ok. It wasn’t bad. But, honestly I would have preferred the food at Panda Express. It’s really hard to describe the food. Nothing really stood out. Nothing tasted really bad. Nothing tasted really good either. It was all rather bland and tasteless. Visually the food didn’t look appealing. But, it also didn’t look too bad. There just wasn’t any color to the food. Nothing stood out. I guess if you have to eat here there are worse places to eat. Just make sure get seated far… FAR away from the men’s restroom.

I haven’t been here in forever, maybe in 6 – 7 years ago. I was really hungry and wanting to eat Chinese. So this restaurant popped up being it was a buffet and near by. We go there at 4:00 pm and they said that the buffet opens at 4:30pm so we went shopping across the street and came back in a half hour. I’m glad we came here at that time as everything was fresh. All the entrees they had was items I would’ve have ordered anyway like Minute chicken cake noodles, fried rice, sweet and sour pork, salt and pepper pork chop, crispy gau gee. All you can eat for $ 16.95. Food was delicious. Service was okay. I will definitely build up my appetite to come here again.

We were craving for Chinese and came here to grab some food to go. First, customer service is bad. I understand that a lot of servers and restaurant owners are not fluent in English but there are other ways to communicate with customers; facial expression and body language says a lot. We told the lady that were just going to get our food to go and there was a sudden change in her aura, as if we were bugging her. The restaurant itself is a hole in a wall, dirty and just nasty. I even wonder if they wash the utensils and their kitchen supplies thoroughly because you could tell that the workers could care less about cleanliness. The food is nasty. Maybe because it didn’t look so appetizing. Actually, non of it looked appetizing, nor did it taste good. With cleanliness as my concern, I wonder if they even wash the meat and veggies before cooking. These are the things that we don’t think about but should. It was also pricey, for quality and taste, it was really expensive. All in all, I wouldn’t recommend people to check this place out. Just a bad experience in general.

Royal Palace Restaurant should have old reviews erased and have its Unilocal page be treated like a brand new business because it is under new management and it’s in the best shape I’ve ever seen it. The old reviews probably scare off customers and that doesn’t seem fair because it truly had improved so, so much. It’s not in tip top shape, but for a casual dinner out with family, it’s perfectly fine! There’s nothing terribly wrong and I actually can’t wait to go back. *This review is only based on the buffet.* My family and I went for the dinner buffet because we hadn’t eaten there for the buffet in awhile. There are more choices than before and the quality of the food is noticeably different. For $ 15 – 17 a person for an all-you-can-eat buffet, it’s amazing! There’s a wide arrange of food you can choose from(my favorites being Chinese chicken salad with their peanut(?) dressing, cake noodles, chow fun, ung choi, zucchini and chicken, clams, broccoli beef, orange chicken, and almond tofu). Prices are worth it for how much food and choices you get. New management is so much better… The young lady(manager possibly?) goes around everywhere making sure everything is okay, taking away empty plates, and refilling drinks. I should also mention that for ~$ 7 – 10, you can also get a takeout version of what’s available on the buffet line similar to a takeout box you’d get at Panda Express. That’s great!

Don’t ever eat here… My friends and I went to eat lunch today. We sat down in the restaurant, nobody else was there. The carpet was littered with bits and crumbs, they probably haven’t cleaned the carpet for at least a week. We were served tea and water, then A COCKROACH fell on to our table!!! DISGUSTING!!!

The BEST cold ginger chicken sauce ever! FOOD My partner and I enjoy going here because of the chicken and we live close by. Plus they have a buffet which for 15 $ you really can not beat for all you can eat. And the food tastes delicious. AMBIENCE The place has been under new management for sometime and I have to say that they have definitely made improvements to the place. They’ve painted and changed the look of the place. It’s good if you have a big party because they have tons of tables to accommodate. STAFF The staff is always friendly and when they see us walk in they kindly put out more cold ginger chicken for us. BATHROOMS They have clean bathrooms but it’s not private. So yes do your business while there’s others in there with you. PRICES Cheap. Worth your money PARKING Lots of it
