Specialties
This is a family dentistry practice. I provide most of the dental services a family would need from children to teens to adults to seniors. This includes children’s restorative dentistry, plus teen and adult care including fillings, root canals, surgery, orthodontics (Invisalign), restorative treatment and dentures. Where patient needs are more specialized I maintain a good relationship with trusted specialists to meet those needs.
My goal is: To help you keep your teeth, all your life is possible. .. in comfort, health, and beauty.
Aloha,
Robert M. Wai Jr. D.D.S.
History
Established in 1978.
The practice opened in 1978 in the King-McKinley Building 1 block away. We had maintained a family oriented practice in that location over these years until the building was sold to build a Longs store. In January 2013 we moved here to the Atlas Building (1150 South King St. #403) where we continue to provide the best care we can offer; both for your teeth and for you, personally. A great source of satisfaction with this office has been the sharing of the trials and triumphs of life with each other over the years.

Business Owner
I was born and raised in Hawaii of mixed races (Hawaiian, Chinese, Japanese, German, English). I graduated from Kamehameha High Schools. I continued on to Church College of Hawaii (now BYUH) and then BYU Provo; graduating in Zoology with a Chemistry minor. During that time I took 2 years off to serve in Central America as a missionary for my church.
My dental education was completed at Creighton University School of Dentistry followed by a 1 year General Dentistry Residency at the St. Francis Hospital in Honolulu. I have also completed all 4 levels of advanced training at the Pankey Institute. I enjoy the interaction I have had with my patients over the years, many of whom I can call my friends.
I am married with 5 children and 7 grandchildren. I enjoy playing the guitar and singing to them (they are so patient with me). Hiking and camping close to nature brings much peace to me; and let’s not forget the occasional dip in the ocean at sunset.
