This is my favorite mandoo in the entire world. Absolutely delicious and made fresh daily. They sell only two types of mandoo — regular and Kim Chee mandoo. I’ve never tried the Kim Chee style but the regular is so delicious that it never lasts very long in my house.

I wanted to try this place for a long time… even before they moved… but I just never made it. This one time(at band camp, not…) I was passing Nuuanu and saw the new digs. There was street parking so I decided to stop in and check it out… Inside is pretty bare bones. A bunch of lady’s sitting at a table making mandoo and another large table of many multiples of mandoo… cool. The menu is concise as well… you have a choice of two types… that’s it! There is a veggie and chicken mandoo and a kim chee option. Not wanting to over-commit, I bought twenty pieces of each(the smallest order available). I asked the lady what to do with it and she said you can boil, pan fry, or steam them, but they are already cooked, so you don’t have to over(man)do it… I got home and defrosted a few of the frozen dumplings, which are quite large. I just steamed them, and they were ok… not amazing. I was a little bummed because I had 38 more. The next day I had a bright idea for a ‘cheater’ kim chee soup recipe… don’t laugh… INGREDIENTS 1 can chicken broth/stock 2 vegetable and chicken mandoo 2 kim chee mandoo INSTRUCTIONS Slowly warm up the pot with the ingredients inside. Feel free to add leftover vegetables or protein… or rice… When the mandoo are soft enough, cut them all in half(key step!) Stir occasionally When it is hot enough, eat it! Serves 1 So this ended up being my preferred way to eat the mandoo. The kim chee mandoo break apart when you warm them up(when cut in half) and turns the mixture into an amazing kim chee soup. The chicken broth just gives it a little body, and with some added leftovers, it turns into a nice quick little meal. I will be back for more mandoo when I run out… which is soon. Maybe I will add noodles next time!

So glad they moved and didn’t close down! We love getting mandoo from them for parties. Always eat a few right out of the bag before it gets home.

This place is right by my office so stopped by to check it out! Not a restaurant, you just pick up the mandoo and go. I understand they moved here from kalihi side and I’m happy they did. You can see the old school Korean ajummas sitting down and making mandoo. You can buy couple different kinds and in 10−20−30 or more packets. Nice fat mandoo with good amount of filling and not too thick pi(the skin). I didn’t realize but someone I work with picked up a bunch today and she had them steam it up so can eat right alway. Now I know… Anyways, far as mandoo goes, one of the best authentic Korean style in Hawaii. Chee!!!

Just stopped by because I heard the moved. I was relieved that they didn’t close for good. Same mandoo, different location. My favorite mandoo place!
