I give them a low 3 stars. The girl working is very friendly and gives great service. The food is somewhat average to below for me. Tried the hamburger steak and the Teri hamburger steak and you’ll probably have better. They have a lot of choices on the menu. So if a variety of food is what your looking try it out.

Huge portions, delicious food, come early as they run out sometimes. The day I came it was almost 1:30 and I was delighted Nicky’s Lunchwagon, parked on Mililani St downtown, still had my favorite, the BBQ boneless kalbi. The sauce is on the sweet side, the pieces thick but bite sized, with some being fatty. Again, portion is sizeable, your plate will be heavy! They were out of mac and tossed salad so they allowed substitution with another starch. I don’t recommend the noodles. They didn’t have much taste to me, and I prefer thin noodles. These are thick noodles, almost like spaghetti, and they were overcooked. For starch, you can have your choice of noodles, brown rice, white rice and adobo fried rice which is good but not great. This is not your healthy food dish.

Country fried chicken good but boneless would have been even better. I understand with bone is cheaper. It was very good but difficult to eat because of the bone. Chicken cooked well. Flavor good. Just enough crunch. Generous portion…4 pieces of chicken. Will keep the rest for dinner.

I had the garlic chicken and spicy chicken mixed plate from this lunch wagon. It was very good with just the right amount of garlicky flavor. The mac salad was cool, creamy and delicious too. I liked the fact that you can choose from garlic fried rice or noodles as your starch at no extra charge. The worker was very nice and accommodating. I would definitely go again.

Good lunch wagon on the street between the kamehameha statue and the downtown post office. I tried the regular sized country fried chicken with gravy. Generous portion and reasonable at $ 7 and you can pick garlic fried rice or fried noodles instead of white rice at no extra charge. The cashier there is also friendly.

Awesome service — usually only one girl in there. Go early for lunch because they run out pretty quickly, being downtown and all. Recommend the beef stew for sure. Very affordable and a great variety on their menu.

I went to the post office downtown the other day, saw Nicky’s lunch wagon on the street behind it and decided to give it a try. First thing I noticed was the cheap prices, most of their plate lunches were $ 6 – 6.75, a pretty good deal. I had their roast pork, which was very good, the gravy was tasty and the pork itself was tender and plentiful. I did not like the spaghetti ‘Mac’ salad but that is just my personal preference(pet peeve actually), it wasn’t bad tasting or anything. I also liked that you could choose fried noodles or fried rice for no extra charge. Very good deals all around, and a good variety of plate lunches for a lunch wagon. I would definitely go back if I worked downtown or am in the area. Overall I’d give it 3.5 stars.

Stopped by here for lunch one day and the girl(daughter of the owner I believe) was super nice and friendly. I told her it was my first time and I wanted to try the baked seabass with crab. She said it was a really popular item, but their garlic chicken was their #1seller. So when she handed my lunch bento she threw in a free piece of chicken to let me try! Came with rice and noodles and a scoop of mac salad for $ 6. What a steal! Enough for two meals — a steal for downtown!

Healthy & delicious & $ 6 !!! Got the chicken-squash/veg after asking for healthy recommendations(have high cholesterol) …w/extra salad, no dressing(thanks), 1 scoop rice… was worth every bite & more. Mmmm, mmmm, mmmm… good flavors, not bland, not salty or overpowering the boiled veggies or chicken… tasted clean and refreshing :)

Found this wagon by mistake and this is our 2nd visit in less than a week. I’m glad we didn’t see the reviews before or we may never have tried it. The beef stew was tasty and I would definitely order it again. While the roast pork isn’t the best I’ve ever had, I would order it again. The gravy is good — it reminds me of good, old fashioned lunch wagon gravy. The Mac salad is good(important!). Portions are pretty generous for this day and age. Considering the $ 9 – 11 I pay at another lunch wagon, Nicky’s LW prices are pretty fair($ 7.25 for my mix plate, $ 6.75 for my coworkers’ roast pork).

I’m shocked at the previous bad reviews, as I LOVED what I ordered – boneless kal bi ribs. At $ 7.00, I thought it was a bargain. The mac-potato salad was so good, and you can even substitute brown or fried rice for the same price. In fact, today I keep looking out my window to see if the truck is back. The person there(female) was friendly, too. Maybe it’s a matter of what you order, idk. I loved it, though.

This is my first review of this yellow wagon but I haven’t really had any good experience with them. Today I got the Rice & Hotdog plate with Chili flavoring(AKA Nicky’s Chili & Franks plate). For a regular sized plate there were two huge scoops rice in the main section, two luke warm hotdogs not even grilled or fried, a scoop potato salad but only enough chili to fill one of the small sides section of the styrofoam container. The amount of chili was just barely enough to layer over one scoop rice. For $ 7.50 yikes. I’ve had there Garlic chicken before and same deal. I wasn’t impressed. It’s two whole chicken thighs which is a plus but its just their fried chicked dipped in garlic sauce as the last minute which doesn’t really soak into the chicken. Mostly, I only go to this wagon when I can’t go to far for lunch and don’t want Subway which is really the only other thing within walking distance from my building.

Yeah, so even for a food truck, its not that great — a bit overpriced, dodgy in the freshness department and there’s nowhere to sit down to eat within a couple blocks… But hey, if you have a hankering for a plate-lunch style heaping of corned beef and cabbage, this will do the trick. The corned beef was plentiful, not too fatty. The cabbage was a bit bland and soggy(even by cabbage standards), and the rice was the cheap, bloated, wet-looking kind. The mac salad I didn’t have any problems with and a couple hours later my stomach feels fine, everything is going to stay down. And the actual title of this establishment is Nicky Lunchwagon. There’s no apostrophe«s» in the sign. Maybe the guy changed his last name to Lunchwagon, you never know.

Two thumbs way down. If I had a third hand, it would be THREE thumbs down. I am trying to emphasize that Nicky’s lunch wagon is indeed a terrible choice for lunch, regardless of how desperate you are to eat. I bought hamburger steak with Teri sauce. But this is not the hamburger steak you expect to look like, you know homemade kind, big and fat. This patty was bought from Sam’s Club and drenched with a pale looking teriyaki sauce… it was seriously diluted with lots of water! When I took a bite into the hamburger«steak» it was just a rubber texture… complete vomitrocious, bleh! So lesson learned, no more Nicky’s for this girl.

I wish I would have read these reviews before I wasted my $ 7.50 on that flavorless slop. I was at the post office shipping some x-mas boxes and was super hungry so decided to try the lunch wagon on the corner. I was ono for chili and rice so ordered the chili frank plate. When I opened the package it looked like pig slop. I figured, I should still attempt to eat since I bought it, and didn’t have time to go buy anything else. The food itself was flavorless. The chili wasn’t really chili just some chucks of celery with kidney beans in some liquid form, the franks had no flavor other then water and pepper, and the mac salad was the nastiest tasting thing I have ever eaten. I could only eat one bite before feeling nauseous. Auwe!!!

Ok so I work nearby and I’ve seen this lunch wagon before so I decided to give it a try. I wanted fried noodles but the guy said they were out, so I ordered a «garlic chicken» plate. I really regret not opening the plate before getting back to my office. It was two HUGE chicken wings! Not typical«garlic chicken.» The freaking wings were so big and cumbersome I felt like I was in a freaking medieval times restaurant. And the sauce! Not garlicky at all, more like sickly sweet. Gross. The mac salad was nasty too, I had to throw it away. What a waste of $ 6.75. Sick. Nicky lunch wagon gets two thumbs down! i should have spent $ 4 on the hot dog stand across the street.

Okay, I’m a glutton for punishment I went to Mililani St. in order to go eat at one of the Lunch wagons there were only two and the hotdog stand. looking at the menus I decided okay I guess I gotta eat here I remembered how the Mac salad was the last time. Ugh darn it still the same some weird tasting mayonnaise definitely not Best Foods Mayo maybe some off brand or something way too much also. ack! I got the Kalua Pig Mini Plate and okay i hate their Mac salad but the Kalua pig was okay about average so that was okay I even tried to share some mac salad with the birds in hope that they might like it nope they wouldn’t touch it and held out for the rice I flew their way. Because of the Mac salad I can only give it two stars and that is pretty good since it wasn’t anything I would want to go out of my way for.
