Service was pretty good! Got to order from their dim sum cart right away, which was a great appetizer. Their house special plate is the perfect size for two.

I decided to go out for dim sum again since I had such a wonderful and delicious experience yesterday but my mistake was trying a new restaurant. I walked in to nice day anxious and excited for an amazing find but I was let down as soon as I walked in. First off, it didn’t look the the most cleanest of restaurants nor was my waitress courteous nor attentive. After seated I proceeded to order and like always just got 1 of everything that’s ready lol. I will say that the food I had was delicious but it wasn’t amazing. The only item that I didn’t like was the Kalo and turnip cakes. Anyway, back to the service, there’s a definite need for improvement in that area. My waitress hardly came to my table and I had to flag her down for mostly every request. I do recommend that those of you who love dim sum and haven’t been here yet, at least try it. Like I said, there food is good, my only complaint is in regards to service. This wasn’t like my dim sum experience I had the day prior but I’m still glad I tried this place. I will definitely give this place another try sometime soon.

I would give 0 stars if I could!!! I come here all the time because my mom loves the food(she’s a cancer patient and rarely finds food appetizing anymore, hence why I keep coming here). Anyway, their service sucks!!! It doesn’t matter if your food is good if you treat your customers like crap. The first time I ate here, it took over 15 minutes for someone to take our order. My mom ordered one of the rice soups and it we were told it would take 15 – 20 minutes. A Chinese couple came in and ordered the same thing and got theirs right away. I asked the lady where our order was and she goes, «I told you you have to wait.» I still come here but only order take out to avoid the rudeness. But the line is always so long. They usually have one lady that does the take out orders. I waited in line 15 minutes once and I knew the lady saw me because we made eye contact. The food was okay for me. My mom loves the chicken feet. Some of the settings are pretty small for what you pay(like the stuffed eggplant).

Its rare to find curteous and nice servers in Chinese/Dim Sum restaurants and you won’t find one of those rarities here. You do feel kind of hussled when the carts come around, and if you don’t know of what you want you’ll find something on your table that doesn’t interest you. The four stars is for the freshness of the food and some of the best spare ribs, stuffed eggplants coated in roasted garlic, and complimentary chinese tea(they make the real kind) my fiancé and I have had in any dim sum joint on this island. This place is also huge and the tables turn quickly so there is never a wait. I’d compare the level of Dim Sum yumminess to Tai Pan on Beretania street in Chinatown, and my fiancé swears they share the same employees. Its cheaper here than Tai Pan, and 5 dim sum dishes plus tip is under $ 20. Two people will be stuffed off of 5 dishes. If you’re in the area, and need a quick, decent, cheap place to eat for lunch, Nice Day is a good option!

First time here. Tried fried noodles and beef broccoli plates for pot luck. A bit salty for both plates and the broccoli was over cooked. Maybe try dim sum next time?

I came here today to try their dim sum. They were quite busy for a weekday. The parking is a bit hard to find because it’s a small parking lot in an area where there’s also Times Supermarket and an American Savings Bank. We were seated right away but had to maneuver our way to our table since they are placed so close together. The food was good. The service was good. Nothing really spectacular or fancy. Nothing that we ordered was bad. It was a little hot in there enough for me to fan myself. All in all not bad.

Would like to give 0 stars. We eat often at Happy Days, apparently the sister restaurant to this, so figured we give this place a try. BIGMISTAKE Almost walked out without paying, but my sister convinced me to. AWFUL service, someone came to take our order, we waited 20 mins for one. Flagged them down to order more, said wait 10 mins. A new table came to sit down, they were served what we ordered IMMEDIATELY, by the lady who took our order. Like yeah, I know the norm of dim sum restaurants, but they were annoyingly rude. We stood up, the lady goes«ohh, sorry yeah.» Yeah, sorry place of a restaurant. BYE! Rather make the drive up to Kaimuki for better service.

If you want good Chinese food without any fancy frills then check out Nice day Chinese restaurant. After some bad experience at two other establishment, it was NICE to find this place. Our spread of food was served very quickly and everything tasted fresh and flavorful. Thanks Nice Day!

My parents like this restaurant since it is central to weekend errands and my grandmothers house, who we visit frequently on the weekends and during the week. It’s an easy location with lots of parking where the whole family can meet and eat either dim sum or order family style off the main menu. The food here is actually pretty decent-both off the menu and the dimsum. I especially like the crispy house noodles-crispy pan fried noodles with a seafood w/gravy topping. The dim sum is a little oily, but the serving size and the taste is good. Also, the meat doesnt fall out of the wrapper– I hate when that happens. Service is fine, you get better service with chinese speaking family members of course, and it’s a little dingy and dated in there. If you can overlook these facts, this is a great place for a family meal– both for quality of the food and the price.

Can we give zero stars? First my wife ordered a seafood roll dim sum for takeout. After getting back to work she realized she got a vegetable roll instead. After she bit into it she found that it was apparently a vegetable roll with a side of cockaroach. About half an inch long. NASTY. Never. EVER. Eating there again. Driving past that place from now on will cause us to vomit a little in our mouths. CLEANYOURDAMNKITCHEN!!!

We stopped in to dine yum cha(Dim Sum)… not so busy the time of day we were there but it was busy enough. Compared to Legends it seemed about the same — however is it less expensive? Not sure? My wife glanced my way remarking this place was pricey(compared to what?). Well — we’re from the«BIGISLAND» with California on the west side and NY on the east side of the island. And where we reside in Los Angeles we get a far selection of Dim Sum places which charge as little as $ 1.59 for anything on a cart — and hand carried try items are a bit more. Excellent fare and for what it is worth that place recently went OUT of business! Too cheap I think — maybe? Anyways — back to the Nice Day — I personally loved the place. It had all the charm of a classic Chinese Grease Laden Spoon joint. It felt so cozy and Hawaiian. We have lots of family and relatives — as my mother in law grew up in a large family. Meaning we have a lot of cousins, uncles and aunties. Many of which are not with us anymore — but their memory lives on. OK — again — back to NICEDAY — we have been all over Honolulu — and I like the place. It feels cozy — the flavors are about right and … I don’t know about you … but the staff was cheerful and smiled with us. It helps maybe we had local elders with us who chatted it up a bit with the staff laughing in friendly banter. So yeah — the critical remarks may well be true — but it is also true this place is NOT bad — just LOOK at my posted picture of the Roast Duck to go. Wow!!! It tasted better then it looks — so beautiful and plump! You gotta go… smile and be nice to the staff… and they will be nice to you in return!

Stopped by here on the way home from a hike. My boyfriend wanted pork hash and I had been wanting dim sum. We pulled onto Time’s parking lot, Sunday around 10am. It was busy in the restaurant, take out line had an older man in front of me. They got my order and food out within 5 minutes. :) +++ for the fast takeout service! Prices are decent. I got 36 shrimp shumai, and 6 pieces of shrimp dumplings for $ 23! I liked the shumai at Legend’s better but the dumplings were exactly the same lol. Go figure. I’d definitely come back. I wish they had more choices though.

Old dim sum… I stopped by one morning because I’ve always driven passed but never been. Atmosphere: Chinese restaurant décor, but several decades old. Fish tanks looked like they haven’t been cleaned in a while either. Service: Okay, attentive waitress. Food: I was very disappointed. I ordered shrimp shumai, chicken bun, and scallop dumplings. They all looked like they had been reheated multiple times. Intangibles: The restaurant doesn’t seem to get much business, and I can see why. The dim sum was very disappointing and I don’t plan on coming here again. Would not recommend.

This place is more like 3.5 stars for both food and service. Some of the ladies here are very nice, and remember us because we eat here quite often, maybe once a month. Their dim sum is good, not the best, but the parking is very convenient as compared to most other dim sum restaurants. Their menu items are also pretty good, and ordering take-out from their side window is usually easy and quick. Family favorites include the tofu seafood basket, taro gok(puffs), mochi rice in lotus leaf, garlic fried chicken wings, tofu and fish hot pot, minute chicken with Hong Kong noodles, black bean clams, and orange chicken. I also love their jook(rice soup) with preserved egg(yup, that nasty-looking, black, gelatinous egg! Yum!) and pork. I miss their $ 12 lobster specials, otherwise they’d have 4(real) stars.

Dim Sum at Nice Day Chinese Seafood Restaurant is fast and cheap. They have a large dining area so you can usually get seated right away and even have a private area for parties. Three Dim Sum carts – 1 steamer, 1 pan fryer, 1 deep fried case – roll around the dining area with all of the typical selections. We had the Sticky Rice wrapped in Lotus Leaf, Turnip Cake, Chicken Feet, Shrimp and Chive Dumpling, Spare Ribs, and Taro Puff with Minced Pork. They also have regular dishes you can order off the menu like noodles and seafood dishes. The Dim Sum is clunky. Nothing’s special or particularly well made, but it’s filling and best eaten with a group so you can get a variety. Most servers speak limited English so feel free to stand up and point to what you want. When you’re done, grab your check to pay upfront, and get on with your day.

We were bumping around town when we «suddenly» decided to have some dim sum. Of course, we have our favorites but this time, we tried Nice Day. There was quite a bit of parking available and was told that this is the«sister» to Happy Days Chinese Restaurant located in Kaimuki. Happy Days Chinese Restaurant’s cuisine quality was known to us because we’ve dined there before(I would give it 4 stars). So, we thought this should be the same… They had several servers with carts that were stacked high with steamer baskets of dim sum. Most of the seats were full but, tables were bare. But why? It seemed that there were only 3 waitresses who took menu orders and cleared tables when they could. I felt like the dim sum servers were«unionized» and would not perform work beyond their scope. They congregated near the entrance and patrons had to hail them to get service. We ordered our dim sum which were steaming hot, had pretty good textures but a little lacking in flavor. Then, we asked if we could order a noodle dish. remember, there were only 3 waitresses? In a Chinese shout, the dim sum server hailed a waitress from across the room. Whoa, that broke the dining ambience for me! At best, the flavors were mediocre but the poor service brought down this experience.
