Its a very crowded place and it means that many customers like this restaurant, and foods are a delish! Its quite fast to order and very organized. You can do a 1 Choice menu order or 2 Choice with 2 scoops of rice or 1 scoop rice and pancit. Theres no 3 choice. But if you want a side order: small/medium/large depending how much and what you choose to order. Really reasonable and big size portions. Worth it for lunch menus. Its also good for breakfast and snacks/breaks. I regularly come here and the customer service provided to me has been always great and epic! The ladies serving food upfront were very professional and customer service oriented. For some reason one looked like a celebrity from the Philippines lol! But both ladies upfront are like Filipino Restaurant Celebrities coz I believe and always remember that whenever I go there, they are always there serving food. I wish Nayong was closer enough to my office but. because the food and location is awesome. I wish they had another opening location a bigger venue for many people to come in. They deserve 5 stars and credit to the cooks in the back and also to the food preps!

I work in fort street and always see this place busy. So I finally got a chance to try and OHEM Geee! Now i know why it’s so busy! The food here is soo good! I only wish they didn’t seek out so fast! Because my lunch break is later in the day by the time I get there they don’t have anything left :(. And everyone is very friendly.

I gave this place a 1 star because, the service from the lady I believe could be the mother of the nice young ladies who works the front all the time, was very rude. They had a special which was some middle dish, and it was $ 5. When I asked to add a side to go with the noodle, I was told sides don’t come with the special noddle. Told the nice young lady, to cancel my noddle plate and replace with another dish. When the girl turned around to tell her mother who was cooking that I wanted to cancel my noddle plate, the mother bumble something and gave me a stare down. RUDE!

Mabissin Nakon? Why not try some Filipino food today? One of the benefits about working in downtown is the many food places they have here! I was working in downtown today, as I was helping a coworker do some checks on a machine, and upon finishing up the job, we decided to walk around the downtown business district to forge for some grindz. Upon walking around, we come up to a place called — «Nayong Filipino Restaurant». We moseyed on into the place, and I must say it was pretty crowded with a line. Upon waiting in line to place our order, I see they offered a(1 item) plate lunch with your choice of rice or pancit for $ 5.50. If you want a(2 item) plate lunch with rice or pancit, it is $ 7.50…Wot a dealage yo! Some of the items on the wall menu — Pork Gisantes, Fried Bangus, Dinuguan, Pork Belly, Chicken Timola, Sinigang Pork, Tortang Talong, Afritada, Pinakbet, Pork Adobo, Mongo Beans, & Pancit. For my lunch today, I ordered a(2 item plate) with pancit, and I ended up choosing the Pork Adobo & Pinakbet. My coworker also took a(2 item plate) with rice, Mongo Beans, & Pinakbet. What can I say about the grub? It was puuuuuuuurty good! I enjoyed the pancit… it kinda reminds me of the Chinese Singapore noodles. The Pork Adobo was delicious, and not too oily… very nice flavor to it. As for the Pinakbet, I ordered this dish not knowing what I was getting(sorry I not Filipino), only to find out that this dish is a bitter melon kinda dish. I’m not a big fan of bitter melon, as Chinese folks also eat that kinda stuff. Now don’t get me wrong… regardless on how the bitter melon is made, it’s just something I normally wouldn’t eat, as I don’t like the bitterness taste of the bitter melon. But when I ate the Pinakbet at Nayong, I must say… surprisingly it wasn’t bad at all… what made it palatable for me was the gravy sauce that came with the dish, if it wasn’t for the sauce, I’d probably couldn’t eat it. This is a small Filipino fast food restaurant(on Fort Street Mall), with about 7 tables or so. The place is clean, has really good a/c(great on a hot day), and service is fast & friendly. I guess this place must be pretty popular, as all the tables were taken, and there was a line of people trying to order their food. You can tell if a place makes good Filipino food, because all the folks who were dining here today were Filipino, with the the exception of one token Chinaman(me) & my coworker who is Japanese. Lol! If ever I’m in the mood for Filipino food, I will be back!

ONEBIGPLUSABOUTNAYONG’S FOOD: NOTGREASY!!! I am not Filipina, but I am a big fan of Filipino food, having been exposed to it for the majority of my life. So I am a big, big fan of tasty Filipino dishes that are available here in Hawaii. Nayong’s is my favorite Filipino restaurant in the downtown area. I will get something there at least once a week and always enjoy my meal. My favorite dishes there are the adobo, pork guisantes and the diniguan. I love that they call it «chocolate meat» lols! I DROOL whenever I see their pinakbet and always order that. Another favorite is the dessert with the Mochi balls, various types of sweet potatoes, and coconut sauce. I don’t know the name of that dish in Filipino, but Nayong’s makes it the best! Did I mention that their pork adobo is not greasy? I don’t handle greasy food very well, so I really appreciate that their food is not bathing in grease, especially their fried stuff like their chicharones, lumpia, etc. The waitstaff is friendly and efficient. They knock that lunchtime crowd down pretty quick. And, most importantly to the Pake side of me(I’m Hawaiian, Chinese, Portuguese), their prices are very reasonable and you totally get your money’s worth. Nayong’s always satisfies my craving for Filipino food. If you are around the Downtown area(or, like me, work there) stop by to grab something to eat. It’s sooooooooo gooooood :0) Salamat po guys. Great job!

Decided to try out this place for breakfast since it was near my office. Before I enter, I see the menu and prices listed outside of the establishment. $ 5.99 for Tocilog. ok not bad. I go in, order. total came out to 7.07. 7.07?! I asked the worker how much the tocilog costs and said, oh it’s 2 items so that’s why it’s 7.07. Umm. the sign outside posted said 5.99! She said, «oh I’m sorry maam, my boss put that up 5 years ago and the price is not the same. I will chance it as for Dec 1st» uh. still no price change though. still charged me the 7.07. Sorry but that’s FALSEADVERTISEMENT! Won’t be back since obviously the business doesnt seem to have managment nor customer service skills. Oh and by the way, I can speak and understand tagalog and ilocano. so your little conversations back there with the cook. yep, I heard it.

FIRST: be careful of your reviews of Nayong because the owner reads them and will make rude remarks to you next time you eat there! Her food is good but I stand by my review that there is better Filipino food nearby. This place is almost a 3 star Filipino restaurant but since it’s Ilocano cooking and I’m a Cebuana… well you know what I mean if you are also Cebuana. I had the dimuguan and pork adobo here a couple of times and I liked it. It’s a good place for a quick Filipino meal if you’re downtown but the Mabuhay Café on River Street is even better.

THEBEST! The great food and the down-to-earth friendly customer service combination is the best since Pacquiao vs. Hatton! But for real, it’s very clean inside and the food is FRESH&HOME-MADE, unlike some establishments… across the street. You won’t find a Filipino restaurant on the island as good as Nayong Pilipino. Plus the prices are low!!! Remember… FRESH&HOME-MADE! LUTONGBAHAY

Such awesome people that own this establishment!!! Love the customer service! I stumbled across this place while watiing for my bf to pick me up, and the owner and her husband were so extremely friendly! I’m ½ Filipino, and they made me feel like I was back home in Lahaina town with my ohana! Their pork adobo was the best(aside from my nana’s). Loved the pinakbet too! I ordered 2 small sides and she upgraded me to larges! BOOM!

This is a pretty standard filipino restaurant where you point at what dish you want with rice. I always struggle at these places because I’m not 100% familiar with all the dishes, and therefore always order the same thing. When I asked if I could have a glass of water, they said they didn’t have any, but when I sat down with my bottled drink and food, I noticed other patrons using a cooler on the other side of the restaurant. Why didn’t they point to that? The price for one option/rice was very reasonable given the amount of food there. I wish they had brown rice as an option. If I’m at the Ross nearby or walking around fort street mall for some reason while craving filipino food, I’ll stop by again. This isn’t a place that I would crave, however.

If it weren’t for my classmates recommending that we eat at this restaurant one day after class, I would not have set foot in Nayong’s on my own. I was quite surprised about Nayong’s Filipino restaurant. The food is deliciously tasty, as if cooked by your own Filipino mother and/or grandmother and the portions that they give are very generous. One choice is about $ 5.25 and you’re able to half your starch with rice and pancit. I’ve only tried the pork guisantes, chicken adobo, and pork adobo and it’s sooo yummy! Craving some already as I type. :-9 The atmosphere is clean and quaint, almost as if you’re eating in a Filipino-decorated home with many interesting paintings of work life in the Philippines, tile floor, and even with a couch which I think is for the employees, but looks so tempting to lay down and take a nap. Lol. I would recommend going early to get more choices on the food. Most of the food is sold in the later afternoon. I would definitely visit if I’m in the area again. Maybe even after finals, hm. :-)

To be honest, I don’t know much about Filipino food! The first time I visited Nayong, I walked in, looked at the menu and food choices then walked out. It was too overwhelming! Today I went back and it turned out to be a delicious decision! I ordered a mini with rice, pancit(Filipino noodles), a slice of meatloaf and a banana lumpia! The pancit was nicely seasoned with soy sauce and a bit of citrus. It also contained meat, chopped carrots and lettuce! The lumpia was super yummy, especially since it was freshly fried :) I also enjoyed the meatloaf. It didn’t have a meaty texture and it tasted more like veggies, but overall not bad! Total damage $ 7!

I’ve came by this place a couple times when cruising around Fort Street Mall mostly during HPU events like intercultural day and the the club carnival. Its conveniently located right next to other food places and establishments as well. A lot of their food is masarap aka ono aka delicious just like your lola or nanays aka grandmother aka mothers home-cooked meals. A lot of pinoy aka Filipino food establishments got balled on for not keeping up to the standards of authentic pinoy food especially the more popular and semi mainstream ones. They got everything from pancit, lumpia, sinagang, guisantes, lechon, adobo, pretty much the works. They also do the Filipino fiesta as a food booth which is cool too in getting their name out to the community. They also have desserts like Halo Halo which is awesome on a hot summer day or just when you need to cool down Pinoy style. The staff and customer service is good. The prices are also decent as well. The serving are also very decent for what you get. Unilocal 365 Challenge #352/365

I’m Filipino and this restaurant is like having your mom cook for you. I’ve searched the islands for a great Filipino restaurant and this is it Food is great price and great for lunch. I recommend you to have the following Tinola — chicken papaya soup Beefsteak — sautade onions on top of a day long marinated beef — only Tuesdays!!! Halo Halo — Nobody make good Halo Halo in Hawaii but they do. It’s exact replica of what you would get in the Phillipines. Mabuhay!!! Jon

What does this Texican know about Filipino food? A lot more than I ever thought I would after having a Filipina roomie that could cook her pants off and a Filipino boyfriend that has introduced me to Nayong. Nayong is across from HPU, right next door to Govindaji’s. Most Filipino restaurants I’ve been to seem to have their dishes sitting in a gallon of oil. Not Nayong. Standouts for me at this restaurant are the beefsteak(only on Tuesdays), tinola and sinigang. They have 1, 2 and 3 entrée plate specials, all coming with either rice or pancit or half and half. Their halo halo is not bad either. If you are around Ft. Street Mall and are craving some Filipino food, make sure you pop in. There’s another Filipino restaurant right across the street, but it’s not even close to being as good. CC accepted. Dine in or take-out. Mabuhay!

Yay! Good Filipino food in downtown! I did not know they had a filipino fastfood in downtown but i love this place! I got the dinuguan, laing, rice and pancit — all in one order for just under 8 dollars. They also have the brown banana dessert which i miss a lot. their food is good unlike the filipino place in international market place. big servings too! can’t wait to try the halohalo! just walk beyond blazing steaks and subway and you’ll find a small sign that says nayong pilipino… :)

I haven’t really seen Filipino food in downtown other than a few dishes featured at other restaurants(e.g. Golden Bowl), so I was shocked when I walked into Nayong. It seems everyone ordered some type of whole fried fish. I’ll pass. I actually walked in for the halo halo with ube ice cream! It’s not bad, and it has a lot of variety for $ 5.00. The plain halo halo is only $ 4, but c’mon what’s it without ube ice cream? Since I had to wait, I figured I’d pick up lunch, too. I got a 1-choice mini, which included pancit(you could get rice instead or both), and gisantes for $ 5.25. It was pretty good. Not quite like my dad’s cooking, but way better than other filipino fast foods(i.e. golden coin, bautista’s) and definitely filling without being too greasy. I definitely would go back to try the other Magnolia Ice Cream flavors.
