After much painful research and deliberation I am the proud owner of a 2011 Mini Clubman and I absolutely love it. Left brain said Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, but Right brain and bunch of other internal organs screamed MINI. Totally fun to drive, reminds me of my first car which was a 1986 Red Honda Civic Si… loved, loved, loved that car and I hope this MINI doesn’t jilt me with some herniatic repair bills for the joy I am having.
Worked with Robert Fairchild and he is a total professional. Definitely knows his stuff and felt super confident that I wasn’t getting BS’d through the transaction.
MINI is what driving used to be. Love it.

The Mini service department just did a wonderful job taking care of me when my Countryman developed a dash rattle and minor electrical problems. They are always SUPER busy, but still managed to take the time to get me a free loaner and keep me updated on the progress (had to wait for some parts to come in). Warranty covered everything, AND I got to drive around for a few days in a pretty cool hardtop! The best I’ve ever had other dealership service departments do is get me a good deal on a rental car. (Note: Mini only has so many loaner cars, but if your car will only be in the shop for a few days, they offer a shuttle service.) Good job Barry, Torrie and Will!

Having major troubles with my 2011 Mini Cooper. I have called this dealership all week and left various messages and talked to two different people begging them to call me back so someone could answer my questions. I just keep getting «we will have someone call you tomorrow.» Okay well it IS tomorrow over and over and still no call and no answer! I’ve left my number with two different people as well as on messages. I am pissed!

They have the greatest service !! I called to make an appointment for my Cooper, they directed me to the service department and was greeted friendly. They make sure you have everything good and make sure you have your appointment on a good time you’re free. They are always friendly here and you aren’t left hanging around they will come ask you if you need help as soon as you walk in

I want to say that everyone in the service department seems very nice and I’m sure they’re trying their best BUT I have to say I dread taking my Countryman for service. I have 3 kids I need to drop off at school and pick up. To guarantee that I get the car back before 3PM which is when I really need the car to get all the kids to their activities, I need to drop if off at the service department at 6:30AM — slightly inconvenient because it means I need to drop off the kids at school a little after 6:00AM, about 2 hours before their classes start. The people are always very nice and apologize and insist it’s a staffing problem but isn’t that what appointments are for? Can’t I book a 2 – 4 hour appointment if I book it way in advance? Do they need 8 HOURS to do an oil change? Thank goodness I only need to bring the car in 2x a year. Car is cute but I wish I had never bought it.

The best of German engineering, Japanese transmission technology in a classic British body approved by the Queen. Only better than the quality of this car is the service from no pressure sales to free espresso at the Mini Café… Free oil change and fluid checks standard gotta love this… Especially if you have ever been to places like Cutter where you feel like a you have been in an MMA cage fight. The style of the Mini Cooper is great surprisingly can fit 5 in the 4 door model and it reminds me of pub crawls in London. Don’t waste time and money with other cars that have sameness even Mercedes looks like Lexus these days … Style and smile.

It is TRULY a sad day in the Angelo A. household: the combination of nearly 5 yr old twins starting preschool in the fall, private school tuition (2x) and an additional mortgage has resulted in the sad realization that the days of daddy driving a PORSCHE (with only 2 seats) has come to an end :-(
On a positive note, we settled on a family commute vehicle from MINI (the Countryman). We have had nothing but positive experiences with this dealership throughout the years, and in this TROUBLED time (for me mostly) they stepped up to the plate and again offered exceptional customer service and an excellent product.
I can’t express how pleased we are with our «motoring advisor» Robert Fairchild and his continued exceptional customer service (this is our 4^th MINI). I wouldn’t hesitate to refer him to anyone. I personally guarantee that he will treat you with respect, patience and he WILL ensure that you are an equally satisfied customer.

**UPDATE** the below situation has been addressed by the BMW/​Mini manager who just called. He was compassionate and understanding. I am thankful he called and addressed my concerns. I only wanted to exchange the broken pump for the new pump once it arrives but he offered to replace it at their shop. Total redemption. I deleted some comments that proved, in the end, to be inaccurate about the management’s handling of the situation.
Also, yesterday the broken (new) pump was installed on the MINI and it works fine. My wife has a vehicle to drive while we wait to get the new pump that is not broken.
–ORIGINAL REVIEW– Yesterday my wife’s fuel pump went out in her Mini Cooper. I figured no problem, I’ll replace it and we’ll be back to new in no time. Called around and nobody had the part on island. Called mini and they did have it but it was about 40% more than O’reilly’s. Being that I’m in a pinch for time I figured I’d pay more and just get it done quicker. Bought the pump for $ 406.94, got home, took the old pump out, got the new pump only to find it was cracked during shipping. –Shucks– But I figured no problem, mini (bmw) will help.(THEY SINCE DID) Quickly called them (just an hour from purchasing) and asked if they have a replacement. There is not one on island and the replacement won’t come for 4 days. Asked if I can use this part until the other arrives then we can exchange as the part was not broken beyond use. I just don’t want to run into problems down the road… He said he has to visually inspect the part before they can do anything. Drove all the way in, they visually inspected only to tell me I can’t use the part, I have to wait for the other part to arrive. Asked to speak to the manager. Got the assistant manager. He came out, threw his hands up and said «there’s nothing I can do. You put it in your car, you cannot return it» I asked if he can make an exception as my wife’s car is totally disassembled with fuel vapor flowing into the car and we need it. (DELETED THE FOLLOWING COMMENTS DUE TO A RECENT CALL FROM THE MANAGER ADDRESSING MY CONCERNS)
As explained to the BMW/​Mini assistant manager, I am a manager as well. I understand the reason for policy. I also realize there is a need for a good manager to make sound decisions in the interest of doing what’s best for the customer. (SINCE YESTERDAY THEY DID SHOW AN INTEREST AND FULLY ADDRESSED MY CONCERNS)

Let me begin with, shopping for a car on this island can be a challenge (compared to the mainland). My brother and I went to MANY dealerships, we did our homework by attending the Honolulu Auto Show first and comparing prices online (Edmunds among other reputable sites). Based on my research, I had actually decided on another car — however, dealing with that dealership was maddening to say the least.
We made Mini of Hawaii our last stop, before calling it quits. SO HAPPY we did! Ryan was our guy. He knew his product, was very upfront with the numbers, and made the buying/​leasing experience so much easier (as it should be). I got the Mini Convertible, and been driving it for 2 months now. Their Service Dept. has already reached out to make sure all is well. I have no regrets, still happy with the choice I made and really enjoying the car.
BTW the guys at BMW next door (under same ownership) are just as helpful. Price point is obviously much different :-).
Oh, almost forgot, their coffee maker is one of the best (no kidding!). Don’t bother stopping elsewhere for a cup before you shop — just head on over to Mini of Hawaii, they’ll take care of everything.

I recently leased a brand new 2015 Mini Cooper S from Mini of Hawaii. Mary Q. is the most knowledgeable and friendly sales rep. I highly recommend Mary as a sales rep for anyone interested in buying a Mini. Mary Q. worked very diligently in getting me a very good deal on my new Mini. Mahalo Mary!

We have been waiting for the four door model to come out since last year so we went to check out the 2015 model as soon as it became available.
Mary Quartana was the primary mini motoring advisor who helped us with the purchase. Ryan also helped us when she was busy. Mary was extremely patient and very easy to work with. She explained to us all the different features of the new model and encouraged us to take the car for a test drive (we drove 4 different cars). She is very enthusiastic but yet not pushy. She let us take all the time that we needed to make the decision. We felt very comfortable working with her. She even drove us to the storage facility nearby to look at all the new cars which came in as each one is unique and the color on the website could look very different when viewed in person. On the day we picked up the car, she gave us an orientation to thoroughly explain the features of the new car. We also got some nice souvenirs to take home such as a key chain and water bottle with mini logo!

I originally went to Fiat to buy a car. Their showroom was not finished and when I asked if I could test drive, the manager said I couldn’t because they had a recall on an airbag part. Redflag! They did go on to say that they could sell me a car. I’m thinking I need to taste the sample before I buy the case.
The salesperson at Fiat was nice took me to see the cars they had. Needless to say I was disappointed, they didn’t sell me the car. Next thing I did was. Get in my car and drove around the corner to Mini Hawaii. Robert Fairchild took care of everything, all I had to say is I need a four door and have a car with the handling that my BMW had. I test drove the car and he went over all the features of the new 2015 hardtop four door. I was sold! I ordered exactly what I wanted and I the handling is super! Thank you Mini, everyone deserves a Mini at least once in their life, the time is now!

My boyfriend and I came in today because we were THINKING about trading in my 2005 Mini Cooper S Convertible for a Mini Copper Countryman (more of a family car for a little down the road). We met with Walter, who is awesome! He talked to us like people not just a sale. We told him we wanted to look at a countryman and do a test drive. He got us in the car immediately, we both got an opportunity to drive and chat with Walter. The car is a dream, go cart handling, beautiful interior and big enough to carry a few people and stuff.
Only complaint would be parking, but hey it’s downtown Honolulu. There’s really nothing they can do about it.
Walter got us in our car and we actually bought today! Thank you to Walter and the whole Mini of Hawaii team for making our experience easy and no pressure! I would recommend Mini to anyone. I will miss my baby (my first Mini) but I love my Countryman.

The update that I want to provide is simply this — they do a great job on service, but the effort to get you to buy additional (and unnecessary) maintenance is increasingly annoying. I paid for the extended maintenance package when I bought the car new, and I don’t expect to spend a nickel on maintenance, barring a catastrophic failure. So quit asking!

These folks are super friendly and knowledgeable. Fun to talk to and no pressure. Though they tried to find me the best deal possible. Have not made as purchase. But once I’m ready I know where I’ll go. Thanks guys.

Wow! Do not take your mini here to get serviced. A quick search will show you that there are local mechanics that will service you much better for half the price. I wish I would have done my research before bringing mine in. I had my mini towed in because of fuel pump issues. I had spent $ 500 on a mobile mechanic prior to bringing it in because I was trying to save money. He couldn’t fix it so that is why I brought it in.
I told them at the dealership what had been going on and how I had a mobile mechanic who had spent about 5 hours working on the car, trying different things and asked them to call him before doing the $ 150 diagnostics. They called me the next day to tell me that I needed a new fuel pump and filter which would run me $ 500 for parts (ok) and $ 1000 for labor (not ok). I asked the woman (Marie) if she had talked to my mechanic and she said no because she didn’t think it was important to do so until after the pump and filter was installed. I also asked why the labor was so expensive and she said it was because they had to remove the back seat to get to the pump. I watched my mechanic take out the seat and it took him 5 minutes.
I was really disappointed that they didn’t call my mechanic. Whether they felt it was important or not, it would have made me feel better about the $ 500 I had already spent and it seemed like they just didn’t care. I told her I would take it to another mechanic because I was dissatisfied and she apologized and said ok.
The next morning the lead mechanic (Will) called me and said that he left a message with my mechanic and he would bring the price down to $ 1000 to keep me as a customer. Wow. That’s more reasonable but the damage was done. I also think it shows how much their prices are inflated. How easily they shaved off $ 500.
I went on Unilocal and found another mechanic that works on minis and has great 5 star reviews. I called them and their quote for the same work was $ 800 plus a $ 40 diagnosis fee and they would give me a loaner car (the mini dealership didn’t offer this).
Of course the mini dealership still charged me the $ 150 for the diagnosis and when I called to tell them I was having it towed somewhere else, Will made it seem like «putting the car back together» was such a big deal and like they were doing me a favor or something. This place is a joke.

husband just picked up a 3 yr lease on a countryman. since we weren’t there to actually buy the car we walked in all casual like, no pressure and even scored a free lunch at BMW next door since they were having some kind of special event that included free wahoo tacos yummers!
we landed robert who has been with min for 10 years and he was awesome. no BS, no sugar coated lies, just full on facts so he didn’t waste our time. he also gave us the best test drive of our lives! i know, so geeky and weird. but the mini out performs so many cars i’ve driven. german engineering sure makes those puppies turn tight corners and at high speeds without it even teetering! IMPRESSED. ok you made your point robert.
i am a honda loyalist like i’ve said in the past but if i ever strayed i’ll stray on down to mini. the countryman is wide and long enough to get a bicycle in btw, so if you’re worried about size this model is for you.
the car handles so well! but keep in mind it rides like my old honda element– bumpy and rough but robert explained that it’s because it’s sort of a sports car i think he said. whatever that means but my husband seemed to understand. otherwise it has crazy pick up! that thing can go from zero to fast in no time! i also feel super safe in it (the steel is SOLID with a safety bar on the side panels) although it feels like a tiny (mini) car to me.
if you buy the car it comes with a few yr’s service plan but excludes replacement parts like wipers and stuff but the big service fees you don’t gotta worry… with the lease it’s all inclusive. nice. if this is a business expense their lease program is worth investigating but only do it when they run these specials, as it’s a better deal. we had to plunk down 3 grand and the monthly is running in the low 300s. if you can’t afford that but want to lease a mini just get the more base model with base features.
one last thing– the three friends we have who already own minis for a few years love them and would buy again. that says a lot.

No, I don’t own a MINI Cooper, but our close friends (husband/​wife) do; however, they do not fit in the above categories. They are in their mid-80’s and are retired. They are NOT adventurous, image conscious, energetic, enthusiastic, young, extravagant, or wealthy. They are not interested in sports, outdoor recreation, or social activities. They were never professionals with advanced degrees. They’re very humble and cool people who are grateful for their wonderful lives that they’ve had thus far. They bought a true blue MINI Cooper Countryman a year ago and absolutely love it!
I get to ride in that car every week with our friends, and I see their ultimate joy and pride in owning that car. Here’s what I observed:
— They previously owned a minivan. It was difficult to find a decent parking space to fit a minivan, as many parking spaces are being restriped to smaller spaces. Our friends have had to bypass a valuable parking space or squeeze perfectly into a space to be able to get out of the car or to avoid any dings to the car. With a Cooper, they’re able to zip right in and out, no matter how small the space is! No problem in finding a parking space!
— With a minivan, its large size and many blind spots could potentially compromise their safety, as well as the safety of others. As one ages, driving judgment decreases in handling spur-​of-​the-​moment decisions which occur with blind spots and slow reactions. With a Cooper, the car is small, and blind spots are at a minimum. Our friends, although in their 80’s, are confident in driving a Cooper!
— Driving a minivan is clunky and difficult with a large turning radius. Driving a Cooper is easy, as the car handles very well, is easy to drive, has precise handling, and a lot of power to zip here and there. It’s a fun car to drive!
— Exterior colors/​designs such as stripes and roof color contrasts can be customized on the Cooper. Our friends share a game while driving on the road — they look for and count up other Coopers on the road and point out the different print/​color combinations and designs. They get so excited when they see other Coopers on the road! This is one way to keep aging minds alert!
— Our friends use their Cooper for short errands, so there’s no need for joyriding or traveling long distances on a regular basis. Going back to their Cooper in a parking lot after running errands, they would exclaim, «That’s our car over there!» They are very passionate and proud of their Cooper!
— Not only is the MINI Cooper well built, but it has lots of neat high tech accessories and unique instrument panel displays. Our friends do not know the full extent of these neat and quirky things (they don’t even own a smartphone or a computer), and this doesn’t bother them. They’re satisfied that the Cooper is sturdy, well built, the radio and a/​c work, and that they’re surrounded by airbags. They’re comfortable with the car, quirky things or not!
— Our friends had a problem with their car early on, which the dealership took care of under the car warranty. They received impeccable service from Jenny in Customer Service, as she made all the necessary arrangements for a rental car and a MINI Cooper car loaner. She arranged for staff to drive to our friends’ home to pick them up to get a rental car from Enterprise Rent-​A-​Car, as well as taking them to the dealership to pick up their car. Another time, she arranged for pick up/​drop off of a MINI Cooper loaner of the same model/​color. The dealer provided exceptional service in that they were not inconvenienced in any way.
I enjoy riding in the MINI Cooper. I think the car is trendy, stylish, and sporty. It has agile handling and good fuel economy. Its interior is roomy with comfortable seats and cool dashboard displays. It’s a fun car to ride in!
Maybe BMW, who owns and markets the MINI Cooper, should consider adding another target audience in their marketing campaign: senior citizens in their 80’s, who are retired, conservative, cautious, humble, and indifferent to car trends and high tech features. They have simple lives and are NOT involved in sports, outdoor recreation, and social activities. These senior citizens have had full and contented lives, but just need one more «toy» to play with! They are experiencing their second childhood of being carefree and enjoying every moment of owning a MINI Cooper!

Great car and service there, they have nice and smilig female Service and Sales advisors as well!
MINI of Hawaii has events through out the year for the owners, from Barbeques to Car shows, and even has MINI Rallys.
Pepper White, Royal Grey, Astros Black, and now Rooftop grey were the colors of my MINI rainbow.
But you can choose from Chili Red, Spice Orange, British Racing Green, White Silver
Velvet Silver, Bright yellow, Kite blue, True blue, Surf Blue, even Hot Chocolate!
Hardtops, convertibles, roadsters, Coupes, Clubmans, and now a 4– door Countryman!

Every Christmas they have a Toy drive for the Homeless Keiki chidren in Hawaii.
