Massage Matters

Had a great massage by Shelley while on vacation. So relaxing I wished I had booked two hours instead of one. Definitely would have made a return visit if I wasn’t flying home the next day. Great experience.

I got to experience Shelley’s massage on a recent trip to Honolulu, and because I was here for 2 weeks, decided to go again before I went back to the mainland. I’ve had quite a few massages, and all I have to say is that Shelley REALLY knows her muscles and massage. In 60 minutes she transformed me into jelly. If you’re looking for a wonderful massage by someone who is really into massage, go to Shelley!!!

Massage Matters is a space shared by 5 massage therapists. They are located above Jimbo’s. There’s limited parking in front of the building. If you stand in the lot and look up, MM is that door all the way to the right. Take the stairs up.
I went to see Shelley.
My MMA partner could not stop talking about how she goes to see Shelley — how she knows pressure points and helps relieve pressure, how she can press into your body and identify your organs (yeah, here’s your liver btw), how she uses different massage techniques based on what you need.
OK, OK, my shoulders are tight, fine, I’ll go.
BEST IDEA EVER. I’m always intrigued by the why of things; so, I asked Shelley a barrage of questions and once she knew that I was a talker and wanted to know more, she told me why she did certain techniques, why my shoulders were pulled forward, why my foot was pointing outward (tight hip & butt muscles!)…
If you’re not a talker, just don’t talk and she won’t or tell her upfront and she definitely won’t. Hahaa.
BEST MASSAGE EVER! She went over the 1 hr slot and didn’t charge me extra!
She runs $ 50/​hr! Treat yourself!

I have had massages from various other places in the past but hers are phenomenal. As an endurance athlete I have tight shoulder and leg muscles and she is able to relax the muscles every time. She also explains what she is doing and gives suggested stretches for areas that are problematic.
There is a good deal of parking in the lot here and massages can be ordered online via paypal. If you prepay for 4 — 1 hour long massages they only cost you $ 40 a piece. As you can probably guess, I highly recommend her.
