This is a review for the Manoa Orchid Show, held on May 3 and May 4, 2014 at Noelani Elementary School in Manoa on Woodlawn Drive. Credit goes to Dave F. for the first Manoa Orchid show review under Noelani Elementary. In detail here’s the break down for you orchid lovers: PROS: — free admission. A lot of orchid shows charge«donation» fee or an outright fee and it’s usually anywhere from $ 2.00 to $ 5.00 with $ 2.00 being the standard, for now. — lots of parking, the lot was nearly empty — easy to find location in Manoa at Noelani –gorgeous and beautiful displays CONS: — bathroom hard to access and super tiny(a walker would not even fit) — pricey items — small This was perhaps the smallest orchid show I’ve visited, while not necessarily a bad thing, I expected a bit more vendors to be present. They had a nice plant sale table that sold things other than orchids such as chili pepper plants, basil, the all-present Spanish Moss and some baked goods. I ended up buying a few Staghorn Ferns which were marked down as soon as I got there. Orchid prices were very pricey for such a small venue; I saw common Gramatophylla Scriptum for upwards of $ 60.00(I have a large specimen I purchased for $ 15.00 several years ago). Even the common Phals were pretty expensive, and they were no more spectacular than the ones you find in the plant section at large chain stores. It may be worth it to explore if you live in town but if you are driving from West Oahu, it may not be worthwhile. PHOTOSTOFOLLOW
