Mai Thai Massage and Spa

My boyfriend and I wanted a great massage after traveling and I read the Unilocal reviews and decided to give Mai Thai a try. The ladies, Noi and Nine allowed us to do a couples massage and it was great. It was very relaxing and I was pushed into positions I did not realize I had the flexibility to do. I felt much better after leaving and will go back when I am in the area!

Owner of Pin Thai in Century Center as well as in Aiea also owns Mai Thai Massage. The management does a really good job of making sure all the masseuse do a skillful massage.
It is great to know that the therapists take concern in knowing if you have any pains or injuries that need to be worked on. I often go to get a massage first rather than visiting a doctor because of the healing effects I have gotten from frequent visits.
Parking is ample, and the environment is very clean and quiet.
They also have a shower/​bathroom available.

Ownership has recently changed to Pin of Pin Thai in the same building. I tried to book Pin Thai on 30 minutes notice (my typical) but they had no room, and referred me to Mai Thai.
It’s basically an extension of the aforementioned business, which is a good thing. Friendly greeting, offered a shower, overall great service. WiVi was my therapist, and she actually was my therapist at Pin Thai so same experience. WiVi is brutally strong, and I found myself asking her to go a little softer (which is rare for me!)
I just wanted to fall asleep afterwards.
Same arrangement as Pin Thai. If you’re driving, pull a ticket and tell the parking booth person you’re going to Mai Thai. They’ll send you to one of the assigned stalls, and you can validate ($ 1 fee).
At the time of this review, the rate is $ 60/​hour or $ ⁹⁰⁄₉₀ minutes. Worth every penny. Mai Thai or Pin Thai it’s hard to go wrong. Pin makes sure she has good/​strong girls working for her. So far Pearl, Nat, and WiVi have all been great.

My husband and I did a 60 min couples massage. The massage was the best massage I have ever had. We did a Thai and deep tissue combo.
If you’ve never had a Thai massage read the other comments because it is different than normal!
The location is weird. But I would go back again again and again if I lived here! The prices are GREAT! Our hotel offered a single massage for $ 180! We paid $ 150 for both of our massages and this included a $ 30 tip. This place is definitely worth checking out!

My husband and I had a couples massage and it was Great! It was well worth the money! The masseuses were very professional, friendly and seemed to know what they were doing.
The ladies performing the massages were great, but very petite. At one point, I looked over at my husband and it looked like she was riding him trying to work out some muscle. If you can envision the scene from Meet The Focker’s with Robert Dinero and Barbara Streisand that was the masseuse on top of my husband. It took everything in me not to laugh hysterically.
The only negative was that the business looked like an apartment. It took me off guard and made me uncomfortable when we first entered. I wondered briefly if I would regret booking the appointment. Turned out fine, but recommend paying in cash.

After hearing that they are now newly owned by the owners of Pin Thai massage, I had to go check out Mai Thai massage.
Calling in to make an appointment is very easy and they even have conveniently located parking!
The ambience is clean and relaxing and the staff is very polite. There is a shower available for those who need. And the rooms are spacious and have a nice view of the city.
The therapists here specialize in Thai massage and they also take the time and consideration to make sure the pressure is comfortable. If you like having the therapists stand on your back then this is the place for you! It feels so good when they crack my back! Wow!

I been a regular customer at Mai Thai Massage I have been very satisfied with there service. They do a real good job of giving a massage and it really helps to keep my body from hurting.
I love that they are almost always able to find a time for me even at short notice.
Yes the place could be more upgraded and more private, but then you would have to go to one of those fancy SPA and pay a $ 140 (which I have done) But let me tell you the massage is not as good and you are lucky if you even get a full hour from them.

Last week after a great tennis workout, I was sore and decided I needed a great massage so… that I indeed did… at Mai Tai Massage in Century Center om Kalakaua.
I called an made an appt. for about an hour later. I requested a technician named Wa cuz I had heard great things about her. I arrived on time and she greeted me at the door and welcomed me inside. I was very impressed right from the beginning. The studio was lovely, nice smells from somewhere and relaxing new age music Thai style for massage. My tech asked if I’d like to shower first and I did just that. The bathroom was super clean and my shower was refreshing and made me ready for my massage. I went to my «room» and my tech asked me to lie down on a very comfortable massage table with a special open headrest. What happened during the next hour was amazing! Wa is small Thai girl not more than 5’1″ and maybe 105 lbs. if that but not to be fooled… haha! She was so strong and worked my sore, aching muscles into soft melted butter. She used a combination of various techniques she had studied both in Thailand and Hawaii incl traditional Thai, Swedish, Shiatsu, etc.
She was so strong I actually had to ask her a couple of times for a little less pressure. haha! After my hour was finished, I felt so good and no more aches or soreness. My session was just 60 min but I could easily understand why they offer longer times too. This will become a habit I fear but… my experience was well worth the money I paid plus a nice tip for my tech as well. I am looking forward to many great massages at this studio in the future and will request Wa whenever possible. This studio is the best I’ve ever experienced and would recommend to anyone needing some pampering and TLC. Oh, they do couples too!

I was giften a 90 minute thai massage at Mai Thai massage. It was the best gift I could have received on my birthday. I know what reputation century center businesses carry with them, so I made sure to read a few reviews before I went to make sure it was legit. And let me tell you, it’s legit. 2 legit 2 quit.
I arrived 15 minutes ahead of time, I was promptly shown into a room, I stripped down to my skivvies, jumped on the table and got ready for relaxation. The only thing I heard was the relaxing music they had playing and the low roar of the A/​C unit.
She began the massage, and I must say for a 90lb soaking wet little lady, she sure knows how to use every pound she has to push on your muscles. I’m not a small guy, and she was really able to dig right into my muscles. She did walk on my back but only after asking if I wanted her to. She massaged my muscles, stretched me out, oiled me up and before you know it my 90 minutes was up. I have been feeling so relaxed all day long, and my body feels better than it has in a long time.
that was the best massage i have ever had. so far… only two cons that I can think of, and it only bothered me for a few split seconds. At one point, I felt a little chilly with the A/​C going, and another time I felt her fingernails digging in as she moved her hand up my back. Those two moments are the only things I could find wrong.
I love Mai Thai Massage and I will go back.

We got a 2 hour combination deep tissue and Thai massage in the couples’ room. The massage itself was excellent, well worth what you are paying ($ 60/​hour for deep tissue, $ 75/​hour for Thai, $ 10 off if you book a couples massage) if you are judging it on the massage alone. I’ve been dying for a massage and I felt so much better afterward (body wise, not mentally, but we’ll get into that in a bit). I felt light and loose and not in pain.
Just FYI, if you are like me and have never had a Thai massage before, they crouch, kneel, walk and jump on your back, so don’t be alarmed. I was kind of afraid at first because I didn’t know what was going on and I had all these paranoid thoughts running through my head. What if she crushes me? What if she breaks a bone or worse, paralyzes me? Not to worry though, she knows what she’s doing and the weight is much less than you would think an adult woman + the force of gravity would feel like. You can still breathe just fine. They also put you through a series of yoga like stretches, which helps you feel amazing after the massage.
Now, on to the negatives:
Our massage started 30 minutes late. Since we arrived 10 minutes early, that made it 40 minutes of waiting. They said it was because their other clients prior to us showed up late, but those people should be punished, not the people who actually show up on time. They told us to wait in the couples room. I’m not sure if they forgot that the A/​C wasn’t on, but I about fainted sitting in that room waiting for 40 minutes with the afternoon sun coming in. I tried not to get too worked up though, because I didn’t want to start off my massage feeling agitated.
When my massage person finally came in, she covered me with a sheet and left the room wordlessly. At least 5 minutes went by, at which point I began to wonder if a couples’ massage at this place meant that they do one person, and then the other. A few MORE minutes went by when I heard the beeping of a microwave. ARE YOU SERIOUS RIGHT NOW?! This woman is fixing herself a snack? After I have been waiting now 50 minutes for my massage? I was struggling to keep my composure at this point. Luckily, she came in and put some hot towels on my back, which explains the microwave beeping. I still wished she had told me something before she left the room in the first place.
We were in the middle of the massage when I felt a buzzing by my feet. Is that… no, it can’t be… A CELL PHONE?! ON MY MASSAGE BED? YES, IT WAS, AND SHE ACTUALLY ANSWERED IT. She held the phone in one hand while halfheartedly continuing the massage with the other. I can’t understand Thai, but I could totally tell this was a personal conversation. At this point, I was almost fuming, but I kept telling myself to stay calm. I wanted to walk out of there and just leave my clothes and boyfriend behind. I don’t care how good your rates are, you could train your employees to be more professional! She hung up and after a little bit, she told me her hour was up, and that she had to go. Another woman came and took her place. I snuck a peek at her, saw that she had a bluetooth headset on and I knew I was in trouble. This new woman had her cell phone on the floor, which meant she had to leave her ringer on in order for it to get her attention. Yes, her phone rang and yes, she answered it. It was a brief call, less than 10 seconds long, during which I’m assuming she said, ‘I’m in the middle of a massage, I’ll call you back.” Don’t you people have voicemail?
Other notes:
The room had a makeshift wall built in (I think we were in the living room) so we could hear the person in the next «room» if they talked or coughed. We made sure to whisper. You have to remember that this is a residential unit in an apartment building so you can really hear what’s going on throughout the unit. At some point during the massage, we could hear the washer going as well. Irritating, but at least you know they wash their sheets/​towels? They also had to stop the massage if the doorbell rang, which got pretty distracting as well.
If you keep in mind that you’re getting what you’re paying for (excellent massage but poor customer service), you may be able to leave satisfied. Your body will feel much better, but be prepared for some major distractions.

I get massages at least once a month, and this month I got mine at Mai Thai while on vacation in HI. So let it be known the location is actually an apartment in a high rise. This is not necessarily a bad thing because the views (in our room) were amazing! The place is surprisingly clean, affordable, and the staff is very friendly. I think I may have chosen the wrong kind of massage «Lomi Lomi» because they kind of specialize in «Thai» massages. So I assume (now) they specialize in Thai Stretch massages. Oh yeah, my masseuse actually walked on my legs, lower back, arms and hands. thank God she weighed 90 lbs.
Anyway I really want to give this place 3.5 stars but don’t have the option. Its sort of good, not awesome, not life changing, but all around good; I believe «Good Enough» sums up my rating. Also, at $ 60/​Hr it sure beats my hotel’s spa prices.

If you like deep tissue massage, you will love a thai combo massage from Gai. She will get into the deepest, darkest knots and crush them until they beg for mercy. Stretch, crunch, crack and relase everything that has been tight, sore or aching. You may need to breathe through it because it’s not for the faint of character, but she’ll adjust to your tolerance. For $ 94 for 90 minutes you’ll walk out much looser and more relaxed.

I had my first Thai style massage here, at it was divine! My BF and I called for an appointment and were able to have our massage scheduled for the same day in a couple’s room.
We weren’t sure what to expect as we both never had a Thai massage before. When we entered the place on the 38^th floor of the Century Center, it smelled wonderfully of incense and was nicely decorated with Buddhist and other Thai figurines and decorations. Not too ornate. The owner Mai greeted us and offered to let us take a shower before the massage if we wanted to.
My massage was done by Mai. I couldn’t believe how much she was able to relax my back and shoulders. The yoga stretching and intense pressure from walking on my back (I still have no idea how they can balance and not fall off!) was just what I needed to take the pain away. And the massage was surprisingly relaxing even with the acrobatics and shiatsu style pressure! To top it off, after the massage was done Mai asked me if I wanted her to crack my back. Huh? She had just cracked the heck out of it! So I said yes, and she proceeded to stretch out my back and crack it even more! Amazing!
My back and shoulders felt a lot better the night of my massage and the following day. Usually my pain comes back pretty soon after I get a massage, but not after this one. I plan to go back and try out more of their therapists, and would definitely raise them to 5 stars if I have similar experiences with the others.

I tried a new type of massage seeking relief from symptoms of Sciatica. Marika, the therapist that helped me, was very knowledgeable and efficient in explaining and anticipating my reactions to the pressure points and body areas she would be massaging. She combined a bit of reflexology in her treatment resulting in great results. Thai massage is completely different from others, combining techniques of shiatsu, deep tissue, and quite literally yoga, as cited in their website. I have had good results and look forward to making another appointment.
