LIK WAIKIKI – Peter Lik Fine Art Photography

Capturing moments on film is what makes photography so addictive to me. But what Peter Lik is able to do is just breath taking! As an amateur photographer, I was always inspired by Peter’s work and the amazing scenery he is able to catch. Going to his gallery and seeing is work in person is simply something you cannot put into words. You just have to see it under the lights on the amazing print paper that he uses for each of his pieces.
After visiting his gallery, I just had to have a piece hanging on my wall. Now I’m a Peter Lik art collector and don’t think I’ll stop at just one. His stories that go along with each shot are even more amazing than the piece themselves. The dedication and time that he takes to capture the perfect moment.
If you collect art or your a photographer, take a moment to come to his gallery here. Just don’t look around at the pieces on the walls, ask to see one of his collections in a viewing room where you can really appreciate the story from what he went through to get the shot, to the development stage that make photos come to life! You won’t be disappointed!

Lik Waikiki is my absolute favorite gallery in Oahu. Staffs are very helpful and friendly. The artwork by Peter Lik is just amazing! Even if you are not planning to buy anything, it is worth walking in to see his magnificent photography.

Peter’s work is EFing inspirational and beyond the word «beautiful». If you love the arts or a photographer at any level, you really need to stop in and see his breath taking work.
What made my experience that much better was meeting Dora, an Art Consultant at the gallery. She was so personable and represented his work with pride. I could have sat there all day with her talking about art and life.
I want to click «Helpful» here on the pictures posted, but seriously it doesn’t do his work justice, his art is something you have to experience in person.

Awesome gallery with fine art photography done by Australian Photographer Peter Lik. My friends and I just so happened to stumble upon this place after cruising around Waikiki for a bit. All of his photos and captures are amazing and it really makes you feel like you are in visually in the picture as you are looking at it. The staff are great and very helpful and knowledgeable about Lik’s work. They have several rooms where you can see a private viewing of several portraits portraying the visual effects and how the photo reacts to different lighting and such which is really cool. We were also here for their Last Saturday event which is great because they serve some light refreshments and do a giveaway of one of Lik’s sets. If you are into fine art and especially photography, this is definitely a cool place to check out and talk story over some great pieces of art. It’s conveniently located on the makai side of Lewer’s st. across from PF Chang’s where all the other shops and restaurants are at.

This guy has some beautiful artwork. Simply amazing what he can do. He is the modern day Anzel Adams, perhaps even better!

If you can afford it, they truly are something special! I would absolutely love to have an original Peter Lik in my house; however, I keep shelling out crazy amount of $$ on shoes, so, ya that day will have to wait. But, even if you are not in the ‘current’ market for one of these phenomenal pieces, stop into the gallery and see them. They really are a sight. Most of the staff is really nice and will tell you all about them. There is one particular gentleman that is a wee bit of a used car salesman about it (he actually asked me «what it would take to get me in to one today»!) Yaaaa, not being so brazen, for one thing. But one of these days… just you wait!

Certainly enjoy walking through here after dinners in Waikiki.
You never know… you may buy something. Peter Lik’s work is stunning, there really is no other word for it. My crazy ass brother-​in-​law was trying to get us to stand in front of the Lanikai piece so it would like he took the picture, well that obviously didn’t work, but the gallery people were good-​natured about his looniness!
The second time I came in here was the real kicker, one of the gallery workers followed me outside because I thought my little group had left. she told me they were doing a closed room viewing. I walk into the private showroom and my husband, my dad, and my girlfriend are all sitting down looking at the Peter Lik piece, i was like“What the hell is going on here?” Of course, i said that in my mind, though we were all a little tipsy after happy hour at House without a Key, maybe they figured we’d be buyers!
Yes, the pitch was quite amusing, esp. the list of people who have owned the photographs. «Queen Elizabeth, our past three presidents, the prince of Saudi Arabia… Paris Hilton, Shaquille Oneal.» I was just like, i don’t know if that last bit there is a strong selling point. You might want to delete those off the list. I am not interested in my living space looking like the star of ShaZaam! Of course, I also said this in my mind. Then my dad went on some tangent about how «photography is real» and I was thinking, I bet the people that work here sure deal with a lot of fruit bats from the general public…
Well we definitely enjoyed the artwork, the staff is friendly and seems very willing to work with everyone and quite passionate!

Love Peter Lik’s work! Photography being a hobby, I can definitely appreciate what he does and how he does it. Yes, there is post-​work done with these photographs. I am usually biased against this like many who enjoy photography, but I strongly believe Peter Lik just does it right. His unique printing technique brings an extra dimension of life to his already amazingly composed and colored art. It’s no surprise at all that the value of his photography only increases over time.
The staff know Lik’s work intimately and can help you with anything to do with his art. They’re heavily invested in sharing Lik’s work and will suggest various payment methods and options for you. You can even describe what kind of photography you’re looking for, and they will find something for you and do a closed-​room showing. They’re all amazing here and consistently enthusiastic about the work!
Drop by to check out his photography at one of the most refreshingly non-​cliché art galleries in Waikiki. I’m just a window shopper for now, but I’m definitely saving up to buy a piece or two when the time is right. Of course, couldn’t go wrong with a 4-​piece Element Set either!

We discovered Peter Lik’s work while on vacation in Hawaii. All I can say is wow. Amazing, great staff. Prices are high but they match the demand. I would love to own some of his work in the very near future. This gallery is worth a visit.

Nice pictures, he does a great job finding great light. I’m just really jealous that he is able to sell those over contrasted and over saturated images for as much as he does. The images are just so not real. Cool Gallery though. They’ve done a great job marketing.

Peter Lik is my favorite photographer and I wish my skills were even a tenth of his. That being said, he increases the value of all of his photographs with his unique printing techniques and his limited edition series’. Every time I go into the gallery I get sucked in and spend way too much time just staring at his amazing work. The customer service is great and all the sales people are knowledgeable and able to answer my questions. One day I will save up enough money to put a couple of his photographs in my home.

I have to admit it. I am a fan of Peter Lik’s artistry, and hope some day to have one photograph that is 10% as good as his worst print for sale. I knew he had a gallery in Honolulu, and just happened across it in Waikiki. While I was initially hesitant to go inside since I knew there was no way I’d be able to afford a print, I am very glad that I did. His art is even more phenomenal in person. The colors, the lines, the capture of light and time. Wow.
The gallery consultant who approached my group was very kind and took us to a side room to demonstrate how the photograph image changed with different lighting, and also took the time to answer our questions, even though I am pretty sure she knew we weren’t going to be making any purchases. This one-​on-​one experience transformed our happenstance visit into an event.

Did not make a purchase but if I had a place worthy of great prints, I would have.
The feller there was knowledgeable and we chatted away about some of the artwork.
I told him I was from Seattle and he directed me to a shot of a river down in the Olympic mountains. Man, definitely been there, but don’t remember it being that beautiful.
Anywho, was a great experience seeing Lik’s work and definitely a solid stop if you are strolling through Waikiki.

One of the larger Peter Lik galleries I’ve been to. The staff are friendly, knowledgable, and courteous. If you’ve not seen this artist’s work before, I recommend purchasing a book to familiarize yourself with Peter Lik’s photography, it makes a wonderful conversation piece and memory of your trip, and the books are affordable.

Love this gallery. Peter Lik is an amazing photographer who, in the right lighting, can have a 3D effect on his prints. I highly recommend going in for the experience, but unless you have thousands to burn (which is very tempting) save your cash. What you see in the gallery will look totally different in your home because the lighting will not be the same.
On average a print-​in-​frame will start at roughly $ 4000 and increase in value depending on how desired that image becomes over time. They do have a special going until next week on one image… Starting at $ 2500 on a print-​in-​frame.
Again looks amazing in the gallery but you really need to invest in lighting if you want to get your monies worth.
Overall, love this place… just out of my price range.

This gallery is truly a neat stop on your way to the beach. The images Peter Lik has in this gallery are beautiful and breathtaking. Even if you aren’t planning to buy anything, I would recommend going to this gallery just to marvel at the exquisite images. And while you are browsing, you can take advantage of the knowledgeable and courteous staff.
My girlfriend and I were greeted by Dora, an incredibly helpful woman, when we visited the gallery. Despite closing soon, she was always polite, and encouraged us to look around the gallery. She introduced us to the artist, and helped us get acquainted with some of his work. She explained how he is able to take some of these amazing shots. She is incredibly friendly, very knowledgeable, and clearly enthusiastic about the artist! After introducing us to the artist’s work, she took us into a backroom and showed us how versatile his works are under varying levels of light. It was awesome to see what looked like the sun slowly rising over a tropical beach, in a still photograph. Thanks a lot for a great experience!

Peter Lik’s photography is absolutely amazing!
We came to the gallery saturday night for some party they were having.
They were serving food, wine, beer, and had a raffle going on!
One of the consultants, Dora, was SOO helpful, friendly, and answered any questions we had! She took me and my friend to one of the back rooms to show us how one of the pieces looked in different lighting, and it was incredible! I had never heard of Peter Lik, or seen his work (my friend had), so I was very curious as to how they print the photographs onto a special paper, and then infuse it onto a piece of glass. The way the light shines on the glass, and makes the colors of the photograph really pop is so beautiful, and unique!

I think we all agree that the gallery Peter has created in this location is stunning. This location is no exception as I have been to multiple galleries in Las Vegas, the one in Lahaina, and one in La Jolla. They are all unique and special in their own way. Peter does it right.
I have dealt with Rama in the past (years ago) and he was very friendly and accommodating. The staff in the gallery is also very welcoming when I was browsing a few weeks ago.
I am going to share a little different perspective since most of the reviews on this location are critical about the prices. I was the same way before I made my first purchase 5 years ago at the Caesars Palace location. I was looking at a brand new release that was «really hot and going up in value» according to the salesperson. It had already sold 89 out of 950 in the first month.
So, after thinking about it overnight, I decided to buy it. Not because it was selling well, but because I loved it. I wanted to see it everyday, and I knew I would continue to feel that way for years to come. I really didn’t consider the fact that it might go up in value because I figured it would not.
Boy, was I wrong! It has certainly gone up in value. As I understand it, the image «Ghost» is almost sold out at this time and my 1 meter framed image is now worth 15X what I paid for it… at least on paper. Granted, I have not tried to sell it. You never know the real value until somebody actually buys it, right?
I guess you can look at the increased value as a good thing (as I do) but the reality is that the increased value means increased insurance premiums. I bought a second piece, a 2.2 meter «Tranquility», and it has appreciated nicely as well. I am pleased with my purchases, but not because of the ‘stated values’ that they have been given… rather because they are lovely images that complement the spaces in my home.
Food for thought.

After dining at Taormina for my anniversary, I noticed that almost directly across the street was Peter Lik’s Gallery, the very one mentioned by none other than our very own Liz T. If it wasn’t for her earlier review I would never even bothered to walk in this store.
Liz didn’t exaggerate when she described his landscape photography as being gorgeous. Some of the pictures were breathtaking… and unfortunately so were the 4 and 5 digit price tags.
According to the salesperson, Lik achieves his trademark vibrant colors and 3 dimensionality because of special techniques and the use of vinyl canvases instead of photographic paper.
I would have given 5 stars but there’s simply no way most people, including myself, could ever afford to buy his work.
