$ 6.25 for a combination plate? Sounds good… or so I thought. Be warned — do not be fooled by the price. The food was horrible. The chow fun had a funky after taste, fried rice was bland, roast pork was way too sweet and I have no words to describe the orange chicken. This review is only for the Chinese fast food in the warmers. There is a chance that the standard l&l local food is decent but based on how bad the Chinese food was, I’m not even going to try.

I ordered the mini garlic mahi mahi and it looked nothing like the picture. It was very disappointing. I came back the next day to try a cheeseburger and that too was disappointing. I won’t be back.

This L&L does not represent the franchise well. It seems to be a cross between L&L and a Chinese restaurant. There are many menu items that are not at other L&L restaurants. I always get the mini bbq chicken. The bbq chicken at this location was not up to par. It was overly salty and had an odd taste. Rice and mac salad where typical of L&L. Place was dirty and run down. Chinese food at the heating counter did not look appetizing. Service was ok. Not a recommend.

Good area to eat and have a nice meal. I think I have been to the other locations but from the looks of it, I can at least enjoy the meal that I bought because I don’t go to a L&L’s very often unless I am very hungry for something that is a good fix to lure me in and get a fast bite so I can say that I had a great fix, which is not too bad I suppose. I think that one con about the place is that the location that it is in. It’s ok to be in the Chinatown area, but maybe put one that is in a place that is more easier to find and not go hunting for it and wondering where is this place at. so I hope that prices do go down a little bit so that it is not too expensive to go to and just have a good meal and the good thing about this location is that they do have healthier options to choose from and I can return there for sure soon and just enjoy everything that is out there to try and eat

I was craving a loco moco for lunch, and L&L was the closest, so why not try theirs out? Big mistake. I usually get their garlic chicken or chicken katsu, which is fairly decent, but the loco moco was just terrible. The rice was overly mushy, the eggs were watery, and the burger… oh man that terrible burger… tasted like it had been microwaved. It was overly floppy and rubbery to the point that even though I was pretty hungry for lunch, I couldn’t finish that loco moco. For the same price, you’d be better going to pretty much any other restaurant in Fort Street mall. After this experience, I don’t think I’ll be going to any L&L any time soon.

I am in LOVE with L & L Hawaiian BBQ. But this place you should steer clear of.(Fort Street) I would go here from time to time to get food because most of the time when I was in town the other food establishments were closed. And L & L always pulled me in and I always thought maybe this time would be better. Much to my dismay it was not i ordered the garlic shrimp every time I go to this one because they dont serve Kalua pork and cabbage(SMH) but the shrimp tasted like it was fried in salt(literally), my son ordered his usual bbq cheeseburger and for one those burgers are not burgers they have ALOT of fillers. But anyhow he bit into his burger and some worm looking thing came out. Gross!!! Told him to throw it away. My daughter who LOVEs her saimin ordered the chicken saimin. I swear they must have used every scrap piece of meat in the back her saimin was more like saimin with a side of chicken fat and chicken skin I did not see one piece of meat. So needless to say that was my last straw. From now on if I am in town shopping and I get hungry I will go out of my way and go somewhere else. Because although it is cheap it is not worth the loss of money or possible food poisoning. Its amazing that they have a green sign saying they passed the health inspection. That is one place the state of Hawaii needs to check out AGAIN! They will NEVER(and I dont like saying never) get anymore of my hard earned money because quite frankly they were trying to kill me… I dont make posts about places but I had to sign up with an account on Unilocal and leave this review. As I am also going to call the DEPT of HEALTH and report this place as soon as I finish this. DISGUSTING arent even words to compare this place. I had no choice but to leave the 1 star if it was possibble to leave none I would have.

I visited L & L Drive Inn because it was close to my work and I’ve never been to the restaurant so why not right? I ordered the regular size Chicken Katsu with all rice for $ 8. Boy was that meal HUGE! It came with from what I could tell 3 Katsu over rice. That is a damn good deal for Katsu let me tell ya!!! It came with its own sauce to either dip or cover the Katsu in which was purely amazing. 10⁄10. 10⁄10 with rice!

This place is dank and the food is as bland and disheveled as the place looks. I only stopped here because all other establishments were closed. Big $ 8 mistake. I ordered their burger combo and the burger was a slippery mess and the top bun was soggy which is gross. I asked for an extra piece of onion since the one on my burger was half dried out and old and was told it was an additional 30¢. Really? Needless to say this is not a place anywhere on my «can’t wait to go back list.». I hope I’m never that hungry to stop here again.

I haven’t been here for a couple of years but today I had the beef broccoli and beef bitter melon. The beef in both Ala Carte dishes were so tough, you couldn’t even chew them. It did not taste like beef at all or have the texture of beef. I discarded it. I called them up to ask them what kind of meat they are using and she said beef, but that is more like mystery beef! GROSS, never ever will eat there again!

This was then worst hamburger steak I have ever had. The meat was horrible seemed like they put a filler in like bread crumbs or something. Rice was soggy a mush. gravy tasted like flour. Never eating at this one again. Dumped my meal.

I’m confused. Is this Chopsticks Express? or L&L? I see 2 signs outside this place. I ordered a Teri steak sandwich and a wonton soup. The teri burger was the size of one of those KFC Chicken Little’s. No joke. I couldn’t believe I paid $ 3.50 for that one-bite appetizer. Walking with my take out bag, I smelled something reminiscent of hot lettuce. What I refer to is a hamburger with lettuce-that’s-wilting smell. You know, hot and cold foods don’t mesh too well with each other usually but the distinct smell of hot lettuce is repulsive. If you’ve ever had a McChicken from McDonald’s, then you know what I’m referring to! So I opened the wonton soup and voilà, there are large pieces of romaine lettuce in the broth. Gross smellng and even worse tasting. The one thing I won’t complain about is the 20 wontons. I guess you can’t have everything.

I ordered the Chinese chicken salad… looked nothing like a traditional salad! Was tasty but not a Chinese chicken salad. Also, not worth the $ 6.00!

Definitely cheap, but not worth it when it comes to hamburger steak… sadly, my craving was crushed for a hamburger steak since the patty was mostly filler. Yeahhh bad choice on my part… on the plus side though, they do offer brown rice and the chicken katsu is still crispy and delicious like all other L&L’s. consistency at it’s finest, only the katsu though!

Went here today for dinner had the spicy ahi, the fish was brown like a pork chop not sure if it is meant to be that color. As I’m walking back to my car I get this really bad headache, then I get back home and notice half of my body has turned red, now my heart is beating extremely hard. That headache has turned into a very painful throbbing, with diarrhea to accompany this pain. As I’m doing my business on the toilet(taking a number 2) I notice that its coming out like water not normal for me. I look in the mirror again and my face is looking very tired with bags that I didn’t have before and just pale like a zombie. I take an advil but that was no help, it’s 11 pm right now and my head is still throbbing the worst pain to ever have. It literally feels like my brain is throbbing, when I lay down I can hear my ears throbbing on my pillow. I know that this fish was the cause because it was my first and only meal of the day, I ate there at 6:30 pm. When I got home all the pain combined at one time was just too much for me and all I could do was lay in bed and cry, I felt useless because I did not have enough energy to seek medical care. But around 9pm I called an urgent care clinic and they told me it should be gone within 24 hours, it might just be a case of food poisoning. It feels like your drunk because when I close my eyes it feels like my head is spinning combined with extreme throbbing, as I write this review in pain and tears please be advised this place is not worth being this sick. Maybe the locals here like being sick or they may be used to it but whatever the case be careful. No this is not my first time eating ahi. I eat seafood all the time including sushi, I love seafood but this L&L place I will never go to again. Now I don’t trust any of those restaurants in the downtown area unless its a popular such as Mcdonald’s. Sorry for any typos.

So this does have some of the cheapest food that you can find downtown. Although I would strongly recommend staying away from here. One of the things that is of notice is how messy and dark the place is. That is not something that really put confidence in my decision to eat here, but since there was a semi long line I thought that it would be worth a try. I ordered the chow mun, spare ribs and beef broccoli. I had high hopes for this place since there was a line. So how bad could this be? While I was eating everything was okay and then I noticed that part of the chow fun was cold. Then I realized that I was not eating leftovers! It was very discouraging to have that feeling of eating hot/cold food of the same thing together. Then I tried the beef broccoli and that was terrible as well. The beef had a strange flavor to it. but the broccoli seemed to be okay. A little bit wilted from my expectations of fresh food. The spare ribs did taste good, then I got half of a warm rib and half of a cold rib. I have learned my experience on this one and will not be able to come back here.

Probably the cheapest lunch you’ll find in Downtown, if you know what to order. I just started working in Downtown at the beginning of this summer, and I have been buying from quite some places over the past month or two. Some places’ mini plates are more expensive than others’ regular plates. Some regular plates go over $ 10 and are smaller than others’ mini plates. Here at L&L, I’ve always ordered their noodle soups. I don’t know if it’s a permanent thing but there has always been a sign outside the door saying ALLSOUPS $ 1OFF ever since I’ve started working. That essentially makes them about $ 5 each, almost $ 6 if you go for the won ton soups. I’ve had their mini katsu plate too for almost $ 6, and while it was great and filling with more meat than the noodle soups, it’s just too unhealthy for me with all the fried skin and mac salad(not a complaint to L&L of course). $ 5 noodle soup gives you a meat of your choice(chicken, katsu, spam & egg, or a few more), quite a bit of noodles, and some veggies in nice, hot soup, while being just as filling. And it’s the perfect amount of food that I SHOULD be eating, and I’m the kind of guy to order more than five plates of meat at a yakiniku. Both items have been brought out EXTREMELY fresh and hot; more so than any other place in Downtown thus far. And the fact that it only took them two minutes to get it out makes it pretty fantastic as well. The décor is horrible and the outside appearance makes it look like nobody ever goes there, the main reason for the –1 star, but I normally take out anyway. But give it a shot, and both your stomach and your wallet will be happy.

When I came in, every worker was on their phone until I came up to the counter. I ordered loco moco and it took like five minutes. The loco moco was pretty good but the patty was horrible. I can even microwave a patty better. The egg and gravy was ok. I wouldn’t recommend this place

Not trying to be a jerk but I just had a Loco Moco and I would not consider this real food, not even worth eating if it was free. The rice was halfway spoiled and the hamburger was raw and honestly didn’t even look like hamburger on the inside. I’ll never go there again, it’s too bad nothing good is open in Chinatown after 4pm.

The food is good, but the location is absolutely dreary. Maybe that’s why the servers had that«Why are you bothering me?» vibe. That said, the chicken katsu was crisp, tasty and plentiful(enough for three meals for me). The other standard plate lunch items(rice and mac salad) were as expected. As for hygiene, there was a distinct sticky, ripping sound, as we peeled ourselves from the booths. Bottom line: It’s fine for takeout, but not anything other than that.

I’ve never really had a problem with this place. I’m not sure why there are so many people giving bad reviews. Perhaps it’s just the fact that people are more prone to writing a review if they’ve had a bad experience than a good one. 2 Things I usually get: 1. Chicken Katsu or 2. BBQ Short Ribs/Kalbi Mini Chicken Katsu Under $ 6: You want to know the secret? Screw their katsu sauce. Dump it or just ask them to keep it. Go next door and grab one bbq sauce from McDonalds. Brah, chicken katsu with the McDonalds BBQ sauce is ONOs. All the people complaining about lemon chicken? Brah you no can soak da chicken in the sauce all day k? Then you gonna complain ’bout, «The lemon chicken is all soggy!» DUMP the lemon sauce, and grab some McDonalds BBQ sauce. BAM. Solution for more than one dish. GEFFUM. Kalbi Under $ 7: I ALWAYS finish this plate unlike the Katsu one which gets me full unusually fast. Their kalbi is pretty good. Nice flavor. I think I only ran into one incident when the kalbi was so chewy, I really couldn’t bite it or rip it apart. But you gotta understand, when I’m hungry, I’m HUNGRY. So I ate it ANYWAY. Overall: Service is quick and efficient. Food is alright, but not the best. I can taste the difference in quality for sure. Price is pretty good considering it’s in downtown. Keep in mind Walmart’s L&L is ridiculously priced.
