Stopped by here for some drinks while walking Waikiki and was really overwhelmed by their friendly service. The store was very similar to an ABC store but without the commercial feel and more of a friendly local atmosphere. We noticed some fresh made spam musubis on their counter for only 1.50 so grabbed two. I was shocked at how tasty and saucy the musubis were. :) I decided I wanted to write a Unilocal review but couldn’t find the name of the store. Went back in and asked the owner why he doesn’t have a sign out front and he said«it’s okay we don’t need one. Most of our customers are regulars that know us well. » hmm… I still think they need a sign. But if your looking for some quick bite to eat, a drink to quench your thirst, a souvenir for that not so friendly Co-worker, or even some booze to get the party started, this small local convenience store is worth stopping by. :)

World famous?! Absolutely! People from far and away come to visit Mr. Lee’s shop solely through the word of mouth. Though the store is not located in prime location where foot traffic is heavy, this shop still thrives with the locals. Goes to show how awesome this shop and Mr. Lee truly is. Let me share my experiences. First of all, what makes this place stand out from the rest of the many ABCs, and other mini marts that people run? The SPAMMUSUBI If you want something authentic and made to order with no BS, you can only find it at King’s Mini Mart. Absolutely the best spam musubi I’ve had in all of Hawaii. It’s simple, fresh and doesn’t crumble in your hands all the while you’re devouring each magical goodness. I’m sadden I haven’t got a pictures of it as it ALWAYS sells out! If you’re lucky, you’ll get a chance to eat this mythical beast, even more mystical than Nessie herself. If I were to compare the spam musubi, it’d definitely be on par with The Apple in the garden of Eden. At the end of it, even Adam and Eve would have said«worth it» as they got kicked out of God’s Garden. Secondly! Mr. Lee will open his store rain or shine, tsunami or a Godzilla attack [as seen in 2014’s movie]. Natural disasters or a giant lizard will not stop this guy from open up his shop. You can call him crazy, but one things for certain, this man is brave and dedicated to selling you the beer, liquor, duct tape, or whatever essentials you might be desiring at any natural disasters or even the apocalypse. He’s that awesome of a guy! Lastly, if you truly want to experience the spirit of Aloha, it’s at this place. By far, like Cheers«where everybody knows your name», Mr. Lee definitely gets to know his customers. Everyone who steps through the doors of King’s Mini Mart is a part of the ohana. Simple as that. My experiences, as I want to shout it from the roof tops. I don’t review often, but for this place I’ll make the exception.
