Not sure if they are open any more. I went there today, and there was a notice on the door, saying closed till September 5. Well, it is October 31 today, and I am not sure if they are still running business. Too bad, I really look forward to having a nice café or breakfast place in Mapunapuna!

This review was long overdue but I just want to finish it and get it out of my pending. Any way, here it is: I wanted to try this restaurant coz of what I read about it and my Hot deal voucher was about to expire. Ditto to Julia O. The food was bland and over priced for a chicken salad sandwich made from a can of chicken. I don’t know how long this place would fare but there is nothing to like about this place if you care about the quality of food(s) you are paying for. There was one server who rang up our order and made our food. The service was pretty slow, just for a sandwich, we waited about 15 mins. because the server was also the cashier and the kitchen person. And the worse part was she wasn’t friendly nor welcoming. It was like she didn’t want to be there. No way, I will come back to this place.

I REALLYREALLYREALLY wanted to like this place. A co-worker, who frequents this place told me so many good things about it, so when I happened to stumble upon it, I was so excited to finally make a visit. Awesome sign and logo, but that’s pretty much where the awesomeness ends. We walked in, hoping they served more Polynesian snacks of sorts, but they only seemed to serve smoothies and a few sandwiches. No one was at the counter, and there was only one other couple there that were already seated. After getting a recommendation to try one of their smoothies, we had decided what we would be ordering. Now, we just had to wait to be serviced. Finally, someone comes walking out, in a t-shirt and sweat pants, who really looked as though she just did not want to be there at all, she came out to give the couple their order, I suppose. So, we continue to wait as she helps the ONE other couple. Then, she goes to the back and gets something else for them and heads back to their table. I thought for sure she’s ready to help us now. I was wrong. She needed to go back in the back, not sure for what. Now, she has physically passed us 4 times without even a smile or acknowledgment that we were standing there, obviously wanting to give them money for something, anything. Needless to say, we made it all the way back out the door with the same courtesy she gave to us while we waited-NONE. At least we also still had our money to spend next door, where their one worker greeted and assisted all of their customers, which were a lot more than 2 people.

Came here cause I had a Hot Deal Hawaii voucher for $ 20. It’s in kinda a ghetto area and when you walk into the place I was so confused what it was. At first I thought it was like a storage unit for a retail store that they just decided to serve food at. The door was broken, the floor was pretty dirty, and the setup is just awkward. The Samoan customers sitting at the table kinda gave us those glares like they do in old western movies when an outsider enters a Saloon. The workers said hello at least but I still felt out of place. When we ordered the cashier seemed really confused as to what she was doing… we paid the remaining balance in cash and were waiting for our change but she just closed her drawer and said they’ll bring the food to us… uhhhh ok… so we just let it go and didn’t say anything cause it was only a few cents and I felt bad for her. Anyways, it took kinda a while for the food to come out for what they served us. I got the turkey swiss on guava bread sandwich which was really just cheap processed turkey meat with the sandwich put together like a mom makes for her kid’s school lunches. At least it was only $ 5.50… My bf got the pastrami melt on spinach bread which was actually pretty good but not for $ 9. We also got some smoothies; the guava lychee and the Candy Mac? Or something like that. The guava lychee was alright and the candy mac had a good flavor but way too sweet. I regretted not skipping the drinks and just going to get boba at 99 Ranch from Bee’s Dessert House. I really wanted to like this place cause I read an article about how the owner does some really great things for her culture and local entrepreneurs. And in the article they had some great sounding items that I didn’t see on the menu. For the price, even though it was cheap, it still wasn’t worth it. Their café is centered around making you feel like family but I feel like the only people who will be welcomed as family are other polynesians. And I think that’s the only reason this place is surviving is from the suport of their friends and family. I’m sure they’re great people but I just didn’t feel welcome like they claim and most likely won’t come back. But don’t let me stop you from coming, I say try it out for yourself and hopefully you’ll have a better experience.
