Loved it! We started the left side where as most people started on the right. I think either way is fine. It’s beautiful. If you are looking for jungle, waterfalls(little ones), and mud… this is for you! It also has other trails so it gives you options. Not your typical hike up and back the same way you came. Every once in a while you get a peek at the city so if you are looking for a great view, this one might not be for you unless you hike up to the park… that was a lot farther so we skipped it! Have fun!!! Aloha

I’ve always been confused by this trail sign to be honest… Kanealole Trail seems to be pointing along the same path as the main trail, Makiki Valley(loop) Trail. Are they one in the same, or is Kanealole only a portion of it, or is it actually an offshoot trail that merges with it… I honestly have no idea. I do like the trail, provided it’s Makiki Valley… right in my backyard, and a good trail dry or wet… not dangerous, but scenic, with some small stream crossings, plenty of offshoot trails like Moleka which also leads to Manoa Cliff, and on and on… that’s the beauty of it. Great trail for families and dogs, too.
