My child has been going to Wilson for several years now and this school is excellent. The faculty and staff have been great at fostering my child to excel and grow. From everyone I interacted with on events I volunteered or chaperoned, the teacher/​staff are all very caring and do their very best for the children.
They have a good curriculum and my child has learned so many things from sustainability to language such as Japanese.
They also have a good fund raising program and the children have the ability to have an iPad lab, among other resources.
Overall we highly recommend Wilson School to anyone. Thank you to all the faculty and staff at the Wilson Elementary School! We are blessed to be a part of your Ohana!

We come here to play basketball. They have two 10′ full courts on the bottom and one on the top which if you bring your own rim and want to make pretend your Michael Jordan or Lebron James you can play on the 6′ ones and practice your dunks.
They also have a softball field. If you want to play it is best you reserve it by seeing the park person during the day.
They also have a men’s and women’s bathroom that is connected to the pavillion.

I just have to say one thing… Amazing. This school is as good as a public school can get. I am a single parent of a child that is a first grader here at Wilson Elementary. I was lucky enough to get a Geographic Exemption to attend this school because the schools in my area were so bad and many of them did not meet their AYP (Annual Yearly Progress) that is set for all schools in the state. As a parent you always want the best for your child and I was told that this was the best public school to send your child to and I have not been disappointed yet.
For a public school they go above and beyond the normal standards of other public schools and almost meet private school standards. They offer Japanese, Hawaiiana, Chinese, P.E., Sustainability and many other after school programs that are not normally offered at other public schools. The fundraising is quite intense for the school but the money that each child raises stays with them for the entire time they are at the school so it benefits your child directly. This is the best public school on the island and I am so happy that my oldest son goes to this school and will probably be sending my younger son to this school once he gets old enough as well.

This review is not of the school as a whole. It’s about the fact that the lines between «church and state» are not clear here. My niece came home telling me she had a 3^rd eye and singing Hindu songs. Where’s the separation of church and state? Public schools should be free from ALL religions. Period. A Kindergartner doesn’t know enough to say «Miss, I choose to not interact in this activity because it goes against my religious beliefs». Wilson Elementary needs to do more to be proactive and keep the separation between church and state.
I mean there are groups protesting churches like New Hope having service on a Sunday in the auditorium they rent because of separation of church and state but Kindergarten teachers can teach about HInduism? There is something very fishy and wrong here. It should be across the board fair.
It’s a shame because Wilson Elementary is otherwise a good school with a solid curriculum but the fact that they allow HIndu religion be taught to Kindergartners so much so that my niece comes home arguing with me about how and why she has a 3^rd eye, is very wrong and not complying with the separation between church and state law.

This is purely based on my one day of volunteering at the school, but I can tell it is a great school. The teachers, students, and staff make up a great community of learning and growing.
I would definitely send my kids to this school (if I had kids) and feel safe that they are well cared for and are learning at one of the best public schools on the island.

My Children are attending Wilson and I am very happy with the school. It is a public school with a private school quality. It is rated one of the TOP 10 public school in the state of Hawaii. They offer an A+ after school program and an enrichment after school program including Homework help, Hula, Keyboard, Japanese, Lego Robotics, and Mandarin Chinese. Mandarin Chinese program is offered to all kindergarten classes weekly. The Mandarin Chinese instructor is outstanding with children. My kindergartener comes home and teaches me Chinese now. It is fantastic!
