Island Princess Factory Store

This is the 2^nd time I have Come here! It’s a great place to buy omiyage when going on a trip. They have a Kamaaina price that is 20% of the reg price posted! They let me try the deluxe which is double dipped. This was awesome. They also have a dried green Mango that I have not seen before. There is also a stamp card when you spend 200 you get $ 20 off!

Pushy ass Chinese lady… I was going to make a $ 60 purchase but because of the attitude I received from her, I put everything back. My boyfriend proceeded to make his purchase. They claimed there will be no tax charged. Once I checked in on Unilocal to get the 20% off the entire purchase, all of a sudden they decided to go back on their word and charged us tax. Thanks for ruining the experience.

Unilocaler Rhea Cherie pretty much said it all. And it will get even better when they complete their chocolate factory that will showcase the chocolate-​making process, which will be visible from within the store through an entire wall’s length of interior windows (see photo section). That will be WAY cool!
The Island Princess store staff are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about their products. Speaking of which, the advantage of shopping at the factory store vs. retail stores is you get to see and buy EVERY Island Princess product the company makes, unlike retailers who only carry a select variety. And not just every Island Princess product (which are surprisingly MANY!), but also every size of a given product. So instead of buying a huge jar of their popular Macadamia Popcorn Crunch for one special friend (Costco), you can buy little baggies of the stuff for gifts to multiple friends (Island Princess Factory Store).
They also sometimes have closeouts and one-​off test products that can only be found at the factory store. Not to mention at the time of my most recent visit, they had a drawing for a $ 100 Island Princess Gift Certificate, of which from what the staff tells me, they usually have some type of similar giveaway promotion.
Not sure what to get? Head on over to their sample station and TASTE which Macadamia Nut flavor you like best first! Speaking of samples, the store is actually a lot like Costco or Sam’s Club, filled mostly with drop-​pallets of their products, surrounded by packaged items on peg hooks and on shelves filling the surrounding walls.
Oh and again, there’s a 20% off Kama’aiana discount. And with that, certain items there will cost less than what they run retail in stores and warehouse clubs. Like oh, say their popular Mele Macs and Macadamia Popcorn Crunch.
And if you’re traveling, they’ll gladly box-​up your stuff so that it’s airplane-​friendly for free!
The store is in a building painted a very loud «Princess-​like» PINK, so you can’t miss it on Ohohia Street in the Honolulu International Airport area. Just look for the building with the Wyland whale mural, and it’s just down the street Diamond Head-​bound (east) from there. Of course with plenty of free parking.
Whatever you do, do not leave there without a jar of the Macadamia Popcorn Crunch. SO, SO ONO!

Great place to buy gifts. Lots of products to choose from. The staffs were a bit too attentive, but were very friendly and knowledgable.

The place is so much bigger then before, BUT (always one) the PRICES OMG INCREASED!!! For my favorite item «Choco Mochi” — I know I purchased it at the «old warehouse» for $ 6. NOW…$ 12.00 DOUBLE… Guess gots to pay for the «NEW PINK outlet store». They should have not called it an OUTLET, but TOURIST STORE. There is no… «KAMAAINA DISCOUNT» anymore ENDED 5÷30÷14. From my understanding. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
Tip: go Walmart or other grocery stores you can find it cheaper. Don’t waste your gas!

I was there 12 minutes before 5pm. which is supposed to be their closing time. why the eff are your doors closed and locked?! I guess whoever was working last wanted to sneak out of work early. #fail!

I’m doomed. Island Princess just opened another retail store in the airport area. I’ve been wondering what this establishment would be since they started painting it bright pink and teal. Yesterday, we saw their banner letting everyone know they were open, so of course we had to stop in to check it out. We were greeted by a really nice employee and a store that looks about 75% complete.
Their employee was really sweet and told us about the different items they have, including their new items: dried fruit. The store also offers a 20% off discount on everything for Kama‘aina. As you walk in, there are palettes of merchandise. They have various items that come in different sizes. They have small portions on shelves and against the walls. The palettes are similar to what you would see in Costco and Sam’s Club holiday displays of gift boxes and bags.
Although their employee told us it was their «soft opening,» the store was packed with tourists because small tour buses bring them over to buy their local specialty snacks. I really had to be patient when I was in there today because the tourists are from another country so I understand that their cultural behaviors and mannerisms are much different from ours. Just saying though, I should receive a medal for not losing it when another customer shoved his way past me. Lemme teach you a little something about Aloha, common courtesy and personal space buddy!
So because they’re still in their «soft opening» phase, they had some issues with their cash registers taking cards. They couldn’t complete my co worker’s transaction because of some technical issues so they asked her to come back. When she went back to complete her transaction, they gave her a free bag of chocolate covered macadamia nuts! Not a small bag; a huge bag that retails for about $ 16! I wouldn’t mind having some transactional issues… lol!
Seriously though, is an awesome addition to their company. The location is perfect because it’s in the airport area and it’s the perfect place to get your last-​minute local snacks. They offer a wide variety of macadamia nuts, dried fruits and even their own line of 100% Kona Coffee. Check this new store out if you have a sweet tooth! Bring a ton of patience as well; there might be a ton of tourists who don’t know how to respect personal space!

Ok, if I’m visiting an outlet, I’m expecting can’t-be-beat pricing, variety, and quality, all of which I received from Island Princess. until I walked into a Walmart a few hours later.
The Island Princess Factory Store is your one-​stop shop for all Island Princess varieties — chocolate covered mac nuts and arare, popcorn crunch flavors galore, and their namesake Mele Macs. Prices appeared very reasonable, so I picked up a bunch of goodies, but shame on me for not having done my homework beforehand. I later found some of the same items at Walmart, but for very slightly cheaper (to be fair, we’re only talking a few cents’ difference, but it’s the principle!).
The only benefit of Island Princess Factory Store over Walmart is greater Island Princess variety, but with Walmart cheaper and more convenient, can’t say for certain I’ll return.
P. S. They do offer flat rate shipping boxes ($ 13 small, $ 18 medium) if you don’t have enough space in your luggage to bring everything home.

So I am torn on what rating to give this place. But I’m about to go on vacation so I’ll give a good rating.
The reason I’m torn is because this location is so GHETTO! It’s located off of Nimitz by the air port. It’s not really hard to find but there is like no parking at all. And when you walk into the store it is super small. I guess I can’t complain because this is an outlet store. And let’s be honest. How many times are you really going to go to a chocolate outlet store.
So you are probably thinking. If you think this store is so ghetto why did you give it four stars. Well, I will tell you why. It’s because of the service. The lady that was working the day I went was super nice. She asked me what I needed and where I was from. She made sure I got what I needed. Another reason I’m giving this place such a high rating is the prices. This is the first time I’ve ever bought Island Princess Candies, so I do not know how expensive this chocolate usually is. But I ended up buying 12 boxes of chocolate for 30 dollars for my relatives and a can of chocolate covered coffee beans for $ 5. I saw that’s a pretty awesome deal. Next time the holiday’s roll around I will be sure to come here to buy my presents.
So long story short. Don’t judge a store by their appearance because it could been super cheap and have awesome employees like Island Princess does!

Selections good, but really i think other place much better in terms of flavor and friendliness, and samples! I don’t know why but i feel a bit overwhelmed when i am here. I feel bad sampling the very small selections placed almost in middle of store, and feel a bit obligated to buy since i feel like i am being looked at as i walk around the small store. Prices are reasonable and def a good place if u looking for souvenir chocolates (about $ 3 a box of 9 pieces choc covered macadamia). Taste wise I still think another place is much better… starts with M. If u purchasing for gifts, really it doesn’t matter, come on down. Items are packed VERY well and presentable. There are items on sale usually but check exp. date!

I’m not going to say this is an easy to find store. The best bet is to look for the checkered wall. It is in the industrial section near the airport and is worth the search. There are a few parking spots directly in front of the building, so don’t worry about street parking. The spots are a bit cramped, but are good to have on these busy streets.
Discounted prices on all of their candies mean that gifts to bring for people on the mainland are an easy choice. They also have weekly specials and great deals on goodies that are close to their «best by» date.
Service is friendly, and quick. The selection spans the product line, and also includes gift baskets. They are happy to ship anywhere in the world, so there is no need to keep room in your suitcase.
My favorite? Choco Mochi. I buy the smallest packs available by the case, and mix them into my popcorn. The dark chocolate is not too thin, not too thick, and is the perfect addition to the peppery arare. They are also my favorite treat to share with visitors. It is the type of candy that they would skip on their own, but I have never had a friend who did not ask for more once they had tried a few pieces. I let them buy the Mele Macs and standard chocolate covered mac nuts for themselves.
