Description

Specialties

I Liq Chuan is a chinese internal martial art based on Tai Chi and Zen principles. While its movements resemble Taijiquan (Tai Chi Chuan), Baguazhang (Pakua Chang), Xingyiquan (Hsing-I Chuan), it has a unique and effective pedagogy and training curriculum based on the integration of mindfulness meditation with physical body mechanics. In particular, spinning hands and sticky hands are two person training exercises (somewhat similar, yet different from Tai Chi Chuan Push Hands) that are used to train not only structural alignment, but engagement qualities with the opponent at both the physical and mental level.

History

Established in 2009.

I Liq Chuan Hawaii was started by Prof. Lipyeow Lim when he moved to Honolulu to join the University of Hawaii. Prior to 2009, Mark Krivda had taught I Liq Chuan informally in Honolulu from 2003 – 2009, and prior to Mark, Daniel Chang had also taught I Liq Chuan in Honolulu some years back.
