I had a great experience diving with Hector. He was very friendly, had some great tips about diving technique in general, and seemed to know everything that there was to know about diving off of Oahu. On the 4 hour boat trip that I did, we went to two separate sites: a ship that was sunk about a half mile off the shore, and reef where we saw some huge green sea turtles and white tip reef sharks that were not so huge. Hector was very knowledgeable about these sites, and made sure that I saw everything. My only complaint is that he didn’t tell me to take out my regulator when we took a group picture, so I don’t look very cool.
Also, he took some great pictures on his gopro. I would definitely recommend Honu divers. Easily the best scuba experience I have had.

Hector was amazing. I just finished diving with him today. Every step of the way he professional, had a great attitude, and was extremely attentive. He even brought some home made banana bread for between dives and surprised me with a beer after we were doe diving. If you want the boutique dive experience, Hector is your guy.

If you have just landed or in the middle of your vacation, call up Hector and I promise you will feel like you have been diving with him forever. He knows some really good spots around the island and only dives with a couple people at a time. This is what drew me to his services. My boyfriend and I dived with Hector on our most recent trip to Oahu. I have gone diving once and this was my boyfriend’s very first time. It was so nice to have our own private instructor. Hector was very knowledgeable and helped my bf ease right into diving. Once I got in the water, it was natural for me.
Hector picked us up from our hotel and we went back to his place and got the right size wet suits and gear. Went right over to the harbor and got on the boat — where there was one other instructor with 2 divers (1 getting certified). After going over safety and techniques, we got in the water to go over the basics while underwater.
After this, we dove down to see lots of sea turtles and colorful fish.
On the way down the rope, My boyfriend had trouble equalizing his ears, but hector was very patient and helped him to take his time. We spent about 30 minutes underwater and it was so clear and beautiful. After we got back up to the boat, hector provided us with fresh cut mango and grapes, and a variety of chips as well. He told us he was bringing us snacks and there were also plenty of drinks.
On our second dive down we saw a few more turtles, but the highlight was a white tip reef shark! Hector used his flashlight and found one at the very bottom of one of the corals way wayyyy in the back. The shark eventually swam out and we got a good look before it took off. Also spotted some different fish, pin cushion star? A xmas tree worm? Lol every time we saw something cool, hector would write it a this little underwater board he had attached to him. Very helpful to know what we were looking at since he couldn’t actually tell us!
My boyfriend had an amazing first experience diving and I did as well (my first diving experience in Hawaii).
I would highly recommend Hector if you want a private dive. A lot of other companies, there are up to 4 people per instructor. It was perfect that the two of us were able to do this on our own! See you next time Hector!

I met up with a friend who had just gotten certified as an open water diver by Hector at Honolulu Honu Divers for a couple of reef dives. Excellent experience, Hector was able to get us on a different dive boat after the first one cancelled right away. Awesome dives, and excellent customer service and care throughout the day! Great photographs too!

WOW! What a great time we had with Hector and my friends! He is so much fun, comfortable and not your usual dive experience. Customer service was excellent, gear is in excellent condition, provided plenty of water and snacks for our SI. We enjoyed the personal attention of Hector and his knowledge. I would definitely recommend HHD to anyone who wants a private & professional guide in an intimate setting or a shore dive. He took video and pictures of our trip. My visiting friends just loved the experience! Mahalo nui loa!!!

My husband and I dove with Hector last week for 3 days and it was amazing. We did one day of shore diving and I felt completely confident in his ability to get us safely to the dive sites (Waianae side) and had a great time. Hector’s professional demeanor and competence made me feel safe.
We had a minor breakdown en route to the dive site but Hector was able to get the engine started again without a lot of drama.
My husband and I have experienced diving with two other companies on Oahu, one small and one large, and the experience with Hector is first-​rate. It was wonderful to be in the water without a large crowd. For the first time, I felt as if I had a lot of freedom at the dive site. He gave us a lot of personal attention and gave me some help with my dive technique.
From now on, whenever we visit Hawaii, we will dive with Hector. He also made a video for us and his videography skills are great too. He is a competent professional and we couldn’t have asked for a better dive experience. The fruit bowls he provided really hit the spot, we had no shame grinding all the snacks. Mahalo Hector!

Dove with Hector and Honolulu Honu Divers, LLC today. It was amazing and a great reminder of what excellent customer service and diving in Hawaii should be. We were late, and Hector was cool. He told us not to sweat it and then took us on an amazing set of dives on the west side. We dove the Mahi and LCU, Shallow. If you want someone who cares about your dive experience, who loves and knows Oahu’s waters then Hector and Honolulu Honu Divers is your company.
He provided snacks, gear, and an unbelievable experience. He may have only a little zodiac, but man he can get you to some places that the «big guys» won’t go to. I would highly recommend Hector and his boat La Carmen!
Three hours after the dive my inlaws are still talking about the experience. We have done thousands of dives between the four of us and we loved every minute of it.
