I’ll get to this and the reason for this less than stellar rating.
Note: This review is about my mother’s dealings with Hawaii Estate Jewelry Buyers. I accompanied her throughout the entire process, witnessed and participated in every part of the transaction including paying the out of pocket cash for the item purchased.
1. BEST PLACE TO SELL JEWELRY IN HAWAII — By appointment only. The owner is very professional, knowledgeable, and understands that even if someone no longer has attachment to something they are selling, they may still want to tell a story about it. Zero pressure. I couldn’t be more pleased with the respect shown to my mom.
2. OUTSTANDING JEWELRY WORK — Incredible job at resizing and increasing the amount of gold in two rings. Flawed work from another jeweler repaired. Rings returned cleaned and polished. No damage to any of the diamonds or gemstones.
3. CAVEAT EMPTOR — FAKE ROLEX??? — Instead of accepting the cash for the deal, my mom opted to trade the jewelry plus an additional cash payment for a «Rolex». The owner promised to provide us with paperwork (I assumed to be the certificate of authenticity that accompanies EVERY Rolex) at a later date. At the time, he mentioned it was his wife’s watch. It was very well cared for and looked new.
He adjusted the band for my mom. After five days of use, the pin fell out and the watch fell off her wrist. Not thinking any tools were required to properly reinsert the pin, she manually pushed it in and continued to use the watch.
A few days later, we traveled to the Continent. Between the airport and hotel, the pin had slipped and the watch was lost.
Called the airline, airport lost and found, cab companies, and hotel security. No luck or perhaps no honesty. Called LVMPD, and attempted to e-​file with Rolex’s official lost /​stolen database. Yep, SERIAL NUMBER AND PROOF OF OWNERSHIP REQUIRED.
Called Hawaii Estate Jewelry Buyers and asked them to provide information. It took two days for them to respond with an invoice that looked like it was created in MS Word and «we don’t have the serial number». Really? The owner’s wife’s Rolex? The owner himself a watch collector? In business how many years? NO SERIAL NUMBER. NO CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. NOTHING IN THEIR COMPUTER, INVENTORY SYSTEM, OR PAPERWORK FOR INSURANCE PURPOSES?
Do I believe this was a real «Rolex». YOU THINK I’M STUPID? FAKE. FAKE. FAKE.
As a side note to the owner, are you happy you hounded me for a Unilocal review? You do know soliciting five star Unilocal reviews for «an extra $ 150» in cash payout or discounts on purchases is against Unilocal’s policies right?

Moshe and his team were very friendly and accommodating. I’m glad I was able to sell a piece of jewelry that I no longer needed or used. I highly recommend them if you are looking for a personable, professional, and comfortable place to sell (or buy) jewelry! Thank you for the great customer service!

Everyone here was very nice! We came in today to sell some jade, gold, and diamond pieces. Of course we’ve been to other places to sell our jewelry and we’d get the whole run around of how all they can give us is the material value (gold weight/​diamonds). Of course other places would offer us to consign the pieces we had, however we didn’t feel comfortable leaving our jewelry!
Anyhow at HIEJB they kindly showed us what the pieces were selling for online and roughly what they could get. After the consultation we gladly sold our jewelry for a decent price. Moshe was very nice and took time to reason with us and chat about random jewelry topics we wondered about.
The place itself was very nice and clean. Parking was good to since its in the building and they validated our parking pass.
So overall nothing to complain about! Had a nice overall experience, happy with what I got, and cashed my check!!!

I had a few things that were piling up in the back of my jewelry box… what to do? I searched Unilocal and it suggested I visit Hawaii Estate & Jewelry Buyers. Really? So I placed a call and made an appointment, which is required — you can’t just pop in if you’re in the neighborhood or have an hour to spare. They asked me to photograph the valuables I wanted to bring in and send the photos in advance of my appointment. Loved that as they would do «homework» on the items before I got there.
I have to say, the Unilocal reviews that I read were spot on.
I was greeted at the door and ushered in. It’s a small office, but well-kept…bright, efficient and neat. That scores in my book as it usually is a reflection of the way the business is run.
Moshe is the owner. Attentive, articulate and knowledgeable. He was easy to talk to and explained the services he’d provide. I brought a mish-​mash of stuff and he carefully sorted through the items. He told me what the replacement value of the items were and also how much he would give me for those items — know that those are two very different things! Moshe looked at my items with an eye for resale — like a true estate/​jewelry buyer. As I wasn’t attached to any of the valuables I brought, I opted to conclude the transaction with a sale! All in less than an hour.
So now, I have some spare $$ to do improvements to my condo PLUS I know of a great place to bring valuables that deserve to be treated with TLC. Mahalo!

Moshe and the team at HIEJB are excellent to work with. The staff members are extremely friendly and customer oriented. We were offered refreshments while waiting for our appointment.
While getting our items appraised for sale, Moshe took the time to talk us through the current market of our different items and what solutions would work best for our family.

Came to find this place through other positive Unilocal reviews. Moshe was friendly and professional. He wasn’t pushy and he recommended the best way I would be able to sell my old jewelry for the most profit. I needed the cash fast so instead I took his offer. I appreciated that the office smelled really nice.

I came here to unload some jewelry of a friend’s grandmother. I had no idea was to expect, but Moshe made me feel very comfortable as he explained everything very well. He first went through everything I had and separated the costume jewelry from the items that had value. Then he analyzed the items with value a bit more and explained what made them valuable and how much it would cost to repair any of them. By the time we agreed on a price I felt like I was getting a fair deal. Like everyone else here on Unilocal I was very pleased with my experience and if I need any more jewelry appraised in the future I will definitely come back here!

Wanting to potentially sell a piece of jewelry, I came across this business thru a Unilocal search. Initially not knowing much of anything about diamonds and jewelry for that matter this place seemed like the best place to inquire with. I was pleasantly suprised being contacted directly by Moshe (owner), to come in for an full evaluation and appraisal. I was more than satisfied with the service I received. Although I did not sell my item I learned a lot of things about my piece from him and what options were best for me. Moshe more than obviously has a passion for his job, which allows him to offer such great service with his vast knowledge and professionalism. I highly reccomend this business and would certainly return either it be to buy or inquire on selling.

I came to Moshe to sell some of my late grandmother’s jewelry that has just been sitting in my safety deposit box. It was hard to take the plunge because 1) I wasn’t sure how much the items were really worth and whether I would be getting a fair deal and 2) it was unsettling that I was parting ways with something that meant a lot to my grandmother.
Despite my concerns and hesitations, I felt really comfortable coming to Moshe. You can tell he takes pride in his work and he is very knowledgeable about jewelry. Moshe’s patient, professional, and friendly demeanor helped me to reach the decision I needed to about my pieces, and I was happy in the end.

Very pleased to have brought our jewelry here to be appraised. We had several items left over from previous relationships that were no longer wanted. Rather than sell the items for scrap Moshe took the time to explain the process and why he was valuing the items as he did. I had a piece of jewelry I wanted to sell and had checked around to different places when I came across Moshe.
When I called they were very professional on the phone and scheduled me an appointment. When we arrived, there were two girls working in the front that were very friendly and professional. They offered us drinks while we waited.
The office was very clean and bright– and me being an Apple employee — there was Apple everywhere! It definitely gave it a clean and sleek look.
When we got in to see Moshe — the diamondguy– he was friendly and very knowledgeable. He told me more about my piece than anyone else. He had the tools to be able to give me the right offer for my item. He did not pressure and in no way at all did I feel I was being ripped off. It’s always a nervous feeling knowing you are putting your expensive item in a strangers hands but Moshe made me feel at ease the whole time.

HOW TO SELL-​Our selling experience
STEP 1 –Contact them by phone 8 087 296 000.
The woman on the phone was very polite. She explained to us the process.
STEP 2-​Questions about your item
My husband took a picture of the diamond earrings we wanted to sell and text messaged the picture. The woman on the phone asked a few questions about our item.
STEP 3-​Setting up an appointment
APPOINTMENTS ONLY. My husband and I were fortunate enough to see Moshe that day. Appointments are available Monday through Friday.

STEP 4-​Inspection
Moshe inspected our jewelry and was very informative.
STEP 5-​Offer
He explained how much the jewelry is worth. Then he made an offer. We didn’t feel pressured or obligated at all.

STEP 6-​Pay out
My husband and I agreed to their terms and conditions and they provided us with a check immediately.
OVERALL:
We went to four different jewelry business to take a look at our diamond earrings. Moshe and his staff gave us the best service and offered the best price for our item.

We just moved into our first home and decided that we needed some extra cash to pay for some things around the house. We had a set of diamond earrings and went to four different places to get it assessed for its value. The first jewelry shop was nice and courteous. She advised us to sell it as a jewelry piece to get its maximum value. She even suggested turning to Craiglist and eBay.
The 2^nd shop was a total waste of time. The 3^rd shop was willing to buy it but a low baller price. From the moment I contacted Hawaii Estate & Jewelry Buyers the customer service was exceptional. The woman on the phone was able to explain the buying process to me. I was able to text a picture to her so they could take a look at the earrings beforehand. I was lucky enough to set an appointment the very same day.
It is near Hawaii Pacific University and next to Our Lady of Peace Church. There is free validated parking underneath the structure.
At first I didn’t understand why I needed to make an appointment but after experiencing the customer service that was given to me I understood why. Right when I walked through the door I felt like I was being welcomed into someone’s home. We spent the most time in his (Moshe the owner and gemologist) establishment then in all of the other businesses we visited combined.
He went into great detail about the piece and searched the internet to show us the true value. He had special tools that the other jewelers did not have to show the intricate detail that we could not see and did not know that was there. These small details that were overlooked by others created important value to the piece that we had.
I trust Moshe and I believe he gave me the top dollar amount for my piece of jewelry. As a first time seller I’m appreciative that Unilocal has lead me to a great business and I’ll definitely recommend him to family and friends.

I met Moshe for the first time when we came home to HI to visit. He is a very humble and professional businessman. We got to know him a little bit when we sat down and he is a man of his words. My fiancé dealt with him over the phone and conducted business prior to even meeting him in person. He is a man that you can trust and always pulls through. I’m not sure if he knows, but we’ve named him our «jeweler». We go to Moshe when we are looking for a certain piece. SHINY, SHINY
Investing in fine metals and precious stones is one of the best ways to diversify one’s portfolio… plus you can flaunt it… It would just look retarded if I held a sign up that said… Hey girl, check out my stocks… its on the rise…
I wanted to sell some jewelry that I felt was out of style… I visited Moshe to get them appraised. Moshe looked over it with precision and care. He gave me the current value of each item and the reasoning behind it. He told me what was junk and what may have better long term value as an investment such as gold coins. He told me I should hold onto it and sell it when the value goes back up. NICE!
Jewelry is a confusing topic for me but the visit was very educational. While some jewelry may be the current hot trend. That’s all it is, a trend… like baggy jeans… or Fo-​hawks. While it may be popular, it doesn’t really defines riches. Moshe explained to me the historical values of certain jewelry and how they maintain their value better than others because they are timeless and elegant, and basically a rarer gem to begin with.
The payment was immediate once we decided on a fair price. Keep in mind, the actual value and the payment you get may be slightly lower because they need to resell it. Think of it as buying and trading stocks with a broker.
I felt way more knowledgable about the subject after visiting. I will definitely be back to say «Moshi Moshi Moshe!»
