I went to take out the trash of my apartment and I was locked out because something broke on my entry door knob where it couldn’t be opened on either side. The first company I called said they didn’t have the tools to get my door open. Thankfully I found these guys through Unilocal.I dealt with Bill who was nice and the price he quoted me was much cheaper than I expected. He arrived about 10 minutes after I called. He was able to get my door open and fix my knob within less than an hour. If ever I get locked out again or have an issue with my lock, I will definitely call him again.

Used Gem Key for a 2^nd time and Mr. Kong came to my home in Kailua and is a very short time he cut and programmed my key for a 2003 Honda Civic. Mr. Kong is so knowledgeable and professional. If you are looking for a good locksmith, I would always call Gem Key & Locksmith Service first. My apartment inside front door handle was sagging and not working properly. When I opened the door from the inside, the door handle would not spring back into normal position. I suspected a spring might be damaged, but because it is a mortise lock, I was not sure. I got multiple quotes to fix my door handle lock, and it was between $ 500 and $ 700, depending on the model of the lock.
The other locksmiths wanted to do a «R & R» of the damaged lock. «R & R» means — remove and replace. This is something that many locksmiths, mechanics, etc… do when they do not want to diagnose the real problem and want to fix it fast. The problem for the customer is that it could be very costly for the customer, especially if the wrong part is replaced and the part is expensive. In my case, the latch box part alone could cost at least $ 450.
That is why I am so glad that I had Mr. Kong do the job. He diagnosed that only the spring was broken, and the rest of the other parts to the lock was fine. It would cost only about $ 25 to $ 50 to get a replacement spring. The lock was an older model, but he was able to track down the spring, and the TOTAL cost was only $ 150 for the whole repair. This saved me between $ 350 to $ 550 from the quotes given to me by the other locksmiths. That is a lot of plate lunches for me!

I needed to have duplicate keys made and found this business on Unilocal!What impressed me was all the five star ratings attributed to this company. I then called the phone number listed and was told that this was a mobile service rather than a walk in like City Mill where I could go to have my keys made.
I was just about to hang up when the owner said if I met him near his residence he would do my keys for me. Ten minutes later, I met Bill, the proprietor who took my keys and proceeded to duplicate them. However, he refused to take any money for his work. He said he usually goes to peoples homes to change their locks and can also make sure that all the keys are working. In my case, since he had no way of checking for sure, he didn’t want to charge me. Bill was very thorough and checked and rechecked the keys before handing them to me. And you know what? The keys fit perfectly in their locks!

Was looking for someplace to cut a duplicate key for my car. City Mill would not cut my blank key. I gave Uncle a call and he said he was at Keeaumoku Walmart so I drove to meet him. My car key had a slight bend and would start my car but not open my doors. Uncle cut my key but at first it was a bit rough. He gave it a second look and worked his magic. I tried it, worked better than the copies I’d gotten from the previous owner! Great service! Friendly! Definitely will call him for my locksmith needs.

This guy is amazing! I’m quite the pro at locking myself out of the house and the car! I’ve been on a streak and haven’t locked myself out for quite some time! Then I just go and lock my keys in my car! I called and he was here in less than 10 minutes! Quick and painless! Amazing customer service! Strongly recommend them! Very amazing and I would most deff recommend for anyone. Called and he answered right away. Quoted me an amazing price to have two keys cut for my car. Once we met up it took him no longer than 15 mins to cut both keys. He was very professional and helping. I would go back to him any day of the week.

This guy is amazing. I went to city mill. They didn’t have a blank for my key. They told me go to the Toyota dealership. This guy made me two keys in less than ten minutes for twenty dollars. I gave him twenty five dollars. Dealership would have charged a few hundred. He’s good. Give him a call !!! FYI It was for a hard to find key for a 1977 Toyota Land Cruiser

I locked myself out of the office. Used Unilocal to find the nearest locksmith around me. Bill answered and showed up to my location 15 minutes early! Called to get a quote to programme my new key fob, he was nearby so offered to swing by and do it within 15 minutes. Since his price was considerably better than what the dealership had offered, I gladly agreed. He turned up shortly after, programmed my fob and even cut me a spare key. Really great experience, I will gladly use his services again.

Called to have the locks changed out on a new house, gem key was almost half the cost of other locksmiths that I called, also offered to come out right away when I called for the estimate. Showed up early for our appointment, performed the job within half an hour. Wonderful job! Definitely would call again!

CALL THEM FIRST! Bill is an awesome guy. I broke the end of my key into my trunk lock. He quoted me for a key extraction. Under $ 50. Other places I called first were quoting around $ 150.00. No way.
It turned out to not be a simple extraction so Bill had to pull the lock apart to get the piece out. He was so patient during this process that was suppose to be a quick fix. (I have met some pretty rude employees when things do not go as planned). I know it took way more work than just an extraction but he accepted my quoted payment since thats all I had in cash. He didnt demand more and told me he quoted me a price and will stick to it. That reasoning alone is why I would always use this company.
I really enjoyed that Bill text me information since there is a slight language barrier. He was very professional and friendly with me and my daughters.

I locked myself out of my car at work and dreaded having to tell my husband to drive all the way to town with the spare key and then both of us having to drive home through traffic.
I called Bill and said he could be at my workplace in an hour since he was at another job at the moment. I said sure since I still had two hours of work left. He was working on my car in less than an hour, and it only took him a couple minutes to unlock my door. I’m saved! I didn’t have any cash on hand but was able to pay with my credit card. He was also very nice to give me a discount since I was willing to wait for his services. Now I know who to call if I or someone unfortunately gets locked out.

Bill and his company were one of the best customer experiences I’ve had with any business in a long time. I needed a fob key replaced but didn’t have the proper codes needed on the first visit. He was super orient in explaining my options, diagnosed a separate alarm issue I wasn’t aware of (he didn’t make money of this, but was just being helpful) and didn’t charge me at all until a second visit when I had everything ready.

behold! my elation from gem’s little act of kindness! As the former owner of The Key Guy, I KNEW I wanted a real locksmith to duplicate my key. No untrained cashier was going to do it if I wasn’t going to do it myself! I know the value of a skilled trades man and I knew I needed it done at 630pm.
I called. Bull answered. And lo! 1 block from my haunt, I was getting a key duplicated with all the patient kindness of someone who loved his job. He was about to go so far as to re key a cylinder just to see that the duplicate worked! 69 million lightyears above and beyond the call of duty! I kept asking him how much, and he kept not charging me! Was isn’t because I look Chinese? I feel like I should have been forcing money into his hand, like a dear old friend.
