We are a full-​service General Optometry practice doing eye examinations for general eye health, contacts, or glasses. We do sell most types of contact lenses, and do fill glasses prescriptions in our office.

We also deal with offering medical office visits for people with early eye infections and are able to prescribe ocular medications for treatment.

If you are interested in LASIK or refractive surgery, or may be in need of cataract surgery, or early glaucoma management, we can offer professional office visits in conjunction with ophthalmologists, who may do the appropriate surgery treatment portion.

History

Established in 1985.

We have been in business at this location since April 1985, and took over ownership of this location in 1989, and have remained open ever since.

We generally accept most types of vision insurance plans that are available to large companies, including HMSA and HMSA Quest, Vision Service Plan, Eyemed, United Health Care, Superior Vision, Evercare, Advantica, Ohana Health Plan, Medicare, HMA, UHA, HMAA, and the Carpenters and Laborers Union plans. Many insurance plans have multiple programs that their company offers, so you could call us up to check if we accept that particular plan or not.

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

Dr. Young was born and raised in Hilo, Hawaii. He attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa and received a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology. Next he attended the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia and obtained his Doctor of Optometry degree, and has been practicing Optometry since April 1985.

Dr. Young’s outside activities worth mentioning include having served as a president for the Hawaii Optometric

Association, Great Western Council of Optometry, Kiwanis Club of Honolulu, and a past Honolulu Jaycees 50^th State Fair chairman.

We do LASIK and cataract surgery co-​management, and do treat minor eye infections, dry eye, and early glaucoma patient management.
