News coverage about a crime at the bar piqued my curiosity. I am not going to write about it but you can Google it if you want. From the outside the bar is sketchy looking with no windows and a shared parking lot with an adult movie place. I sat at the bar and chatted with another customer at the bar who said he is a regular. The menu was originally written in Korean and translated to English, resulting in some oddities like one item is just listed as «sandwich» another entrée was«pop corn.» I ended up ordering a Fantasia(orange vodka, orange schnapps, and orange soda) but they did not have any orange schnapps, so I had a $ 2 beer instead and chicken gizzards to eat. The bartender was surprised that I wanted chicken gizzards, so I explained that I used to eat them with my dad. While I was waiting the 20 minutes for the gizzards, I ended up chatting with the regular customer. We talked quietly about the news story, because the victim was working in another part of the bar. The regular said that he would not visit the bar late at night because of the environs. One oddity about the bar is that the staff sits and chats with customers when they are not working. the regular talked with the staff because he was well-known, the staff was not unfriendly to me it was just I was less familiar so we did not chat as much. The bartender sat with a couple at a booth when he was not pouring drinks. The gizzards were very dry – almost crunchy. After the regular left, the topic of the bar became Korean unification and its impact on the Olympics – Only in Hawaii would that be the bar chat! As I left one of the servers joked that she’d «see me tomorrow.»

Ellie’s is synonymous with poor service. It seems like the only«servers» are the girls themselves, so good luck on getting a drink if you’re a girl /refuse to sit with an Ellie’s girl.(I’m sure the bartenders serve indiscriminately, but
