Eggs ‘n Things – Ala Moana

First time here with my friend and I loved it! The wait wasn’t that long considering we were there by 11:45. The service was really good, the manager was our waiter. You HAVE to try the iced sweetened cappacuino it tastes SO DELICIOUS! The papaya bowl with yogurt and fruits were pretty good too.
Overall my experience here was really good. Potatoes were yummy which impressed me too :) ¹⁰⁄₁₀ recommend if you want breakfast at any time of the day! They also have lunch specials after 12pm and are open till 10!

This location is definitely better than their other one because:
1. There’s a huge parking lot with plenty of parking spaces.
2. The restaurant is bigger as well.
3. It doesn’t get too packed and it’s a shorter wait to get a table.
We arrived around 10am in the morning and got a parking right away and got seated right away! Nice!
Portuguese Sausage Omelette + Macadamia Pancakes
The omelette was a huge portion. Unfortunately the sausages were very soggy and flavorless in the omelette. Needed a lot of hot sauce for flavor. It was a very simple dish but I still feel like they could’ve done something better to give the omelette more flavor. But the macadamia pancakes were amaaaaazing. And I absolutely LOVED their Guava and Coconut syrups that are provided for you on each table. I could eat their pancakes and the syrups everyday if I could.
I also tried my boyfriend’s blueberry pancakes and they were delicious as well and they gave a huge amount of whipped cream.
YOU MUST eat your pancakes with whipped cream, guava sauce, and coconut sauce.
They are amazing.

After dropping off the parents at the airport we decided on finding an early morning breakfast place. We decided to go to Eggs N Things. This is the second location located by Ala Moana and Nijiya Market.
Usually the place is pretty busy in the morning with the flocks of Japanese tourists and you have to wait and wait for a table. The solution for this be crazy like us and get there when it first opens. We were the first ones to get seated and the only customers for a while so service was on point.
We ordered the special omelet which was bacon, mushrooms, green onions and cheese with potatoes and the strawberry macnut pancakes. The eggs were well cooked and there was an ample amount of filling. The potatoes were also crispy which I love. The pancakes were fluffy and I liked that they had different choices of syrup (coconut, guava and maple).
We will be back again because breakfast is my favorite meal of the day.

I waited about 20 years to eat at this place, first heard of them when they were in Waikiki only, and they had rave reviews. However I gotta be in the mood to eat breakfast for lunch so finally I was and went to the Piikoi outlet. It wasn’t busy, about ¼ full and when I got in, no one at the hostess stand.
I was confused so turned to the right and saw a slender girl behind the bar and said just one person. Not a word was said, and all she did was slide her eyes to my left indicating the stools around the bar. So I went to grab one but a waiter came up and said would you rather sit at a table, which I said yes. Never saw that girl again, seems the hostess was another asian girl with long black hair. The first one had colored hair and was asian appearing.
Service was prompt and I ordered pancakes, with potatoes and their spinach omelette. The pancakes were great and so was the omelette. But the potatoes, WTF. There in a horrible orange red coating and dried out and warm. Obliviously they’ve been sitting under a warmer lamp for gawd who knows how long? 1 hour? 2 hours? Tasted like SHEET!
I offered to my furred pigs (dogs) and a good indication that it’s sheet food is they both refused my leftovers at home. They love potatoes but even they wouldn’t eat this sheet. One sniff and they turned their head. Yea I know that feeling except their mommy was stupid enough to eat more than one, proving my dogs are smarter than me, sometimes.
The other reason why I hated this fricking place was that the two local boy waiters were talking across the room and station at each other… discussing what they were gonna do after work and that a «Marshall» was coming to work soon. Marshall must be the boss or coworker. Whatevah they discussed him and their personal lives loudly. So loud I could not hear my Kindle through earphones.
Come on dudes, I know you wanna party hardy pau hana but I don’t give a sheet about your personal lives. Really.
In spite of this Private Lives conversation, service was excellent, hence the 20%+ tip. I worked in a tipping industry and know it’s hard work.
With the rude eye sliding waitress to these yappy boys I had to give it a one-​star. Horrible. Only matched by my bad experience at Teddy’s Burgers Wahiawa.
When a place specializes in b r e a k f a s t and that’s their signature meal I expect everything to be near perfect. Omelette was great but nevah have taste, pancakes were great, but I wouldn’t go back for it. I spent $ 24 + incld. tip for this food. I rather have spent it for steak at another place. Eggs and pancakes are cheap to make! nope will never be back — if I want sub par food and a loud environment I’ll eat a high school cafeteria, thank you very much. oh, cashier nevah give me my receipt either… I just thought f* it and left.

So what does it mean when you take a grand-​baby to a restaurant and the server gives you a funny look and asks «wait, he’s not yours right? I see him with his parents all the time»? It means our family loves to eat, and obviously Thing #1 is unforgettable. So we sometimes like to eat breakfast on the weekends, and determine our dining location by what our plans are for the day. This past Sunday we wound up at Eggs n Things and it’s one of our go-to’s for breakfast.
Service is usually really friendly (did I mention our server recognized the little in attendance?) food is very consistent, and it is cost-​friendly. Hubs had the ham and eggs, I went with the benedict, and the kid got pancakes (no surprise there). I usually make the kid sit next to Papa whenever there is syrup involved, so Papa aka hubs, was on duty with the 2 year old who insisted on trying the different syrups available. Ultimately he decided he preferred the regular maple syrup.
I always ask for extra Hollandaise sauce, and am always happy when the server remembers it. (I hate repeating myself) Yay, server dude!
Be sure to go early to beat the line, which usually starts around 830 – 9 on the weekends. Or sit at the counter and pass the line… either way, don’t forget to check out there assorted sauces for sale.

I can’t visit Oahu without having the Mac Nut pancakes here at least once. Paradise on a plate!

I had the New York steak & eggs with their signature rub of garlic powder & salt ($ 17.95) with sautéed mushrooms & onions ($ 2.25) w/​upgraded Banana pancakes ($ 3.95) without the whipped cream ($ 2 more) & my wife had the corned beef hash & eggs.
The steak looked coming out, but was a bit bland; not enough flavoring. The banana pancakes was okay (Rocky’s is still better); and the c/​b hash was good.
Overall a bit overpriced for the quality of food we got; but it is still popular; especially with the tourist.
One good note — our waitress Joanne gave us great friendly service!
On another note, we noticed the foreigners did not get good service; generally were ignored. I’m not sure if it’s because reputation-​wise; Asian tourists don’t normally tip; but they do make comments on Trip Advisor.

Both the pancakes and the service here were great!
We walked in and were seated in less than 5 minutes. Our server Travis was kind enough to let us know that the pancakes were large enough to share so we ordered the STRAWBERRIES WHIPPED CREAM & MAC NUTS PANCAKES. They include five fluffy pancakes topped with strawberries, powdered sugar, macadamia nuts, and a huge pile of whipped cream. The pancakes are delicious by itself but I recommend pouring some of the coconut syrup that they have on the table! I’m not really a fan of coconut but the syrup was exceptionally good.
This chain is definitely popular among tourists, particularly among the Japanese. It’s a little overhyped but if you’re into those kinds of places and want to eat some yummy pancakes then this is a place you should go at least once if you’re in the area!

I only come here once in a while when I have friends outside of hawaii visit me and others, and I would take them here because whats really famous are their pancakes and ham chops also their acai bowls! Eggs benedict is also good!
This place really attracts tourists well, and my friends really liked it. Thankfully, I heard there’s now Eggs N Things in Guam. Congratulations! Sorry for the late review posts.

Fairly satisfied. Went in around lunchtime on a Sunday and there was a line outside, however the wait was only 15 minutes.
The staff was, overall, kind and helpful. They take your order using cell phones. At first I thought our waitress was texting while she was talking to us, and I thought it was very rude… then I noticed that’s just how they put in our orders. I think they should still stick to pen and paper, because our waitress hardly made eye contact with us while talking to us… or at least explain upfront why they are using a cell phone right in front of us.
I ordered the special omelette of the day, which was a bacon, mushroom, and green onion omelette, which comes with your choice of side (rice, potatoes, or pancakes). My fiancé ordered a bacon, spinach, and green onion omelette, and upgraded his meal to come with banana pancakes with whipped cream.
Aside from the cell phone use, the only problem we had was that my meal came out about 10 minutes later than my fiancé’s meal. I honestly think they forgot about my meal because they had to come out and verify that I did order an omelette. By the time my meal came out, my fiancé’s meal was cold, and the whipped cream on his pancakes were half melted, which was disappointing. But overall, the food was good and the staff was nice. In general, a decent experience.

I’ve never really understood the hype about this place, and to be honest, the only reason we keep coming here is because we live so close. Because the wait for a table during breakfast/​brunch is generally a nightmare on the weekends (and because I think there are much better breakfast/​brunch options), we usually come here at night if we are in the mood for breakfast for dinner.
Even when we come at night, the parking lot still tends to be quite crowded due to the Japanese grocery store, but since a significant portion of Oahu was probably out shopping, the parking lot was easy to navigate and snag a space.
As usual, it was no problem getting a table at night (I don’t think I’ve ever seen it full at night). The service can be hit or miss, but tonight I thought the service was good! On the other hand, the food was just okay — not bad, but nothing spectacular either. To be fair, I haven’t ever tried any of their specials, but it seems mostly like a lot of fluff (or in their case, whipped cream).

Worst experience ever. I normally love this place! But also I decided to chance it and try something new. I usually stick the pancakes with Mac nuts and whipped cream, with eggs and meat or something. Or stir-​fry tofu. But today I tried the crepes and the batter was nasty, it tasted undercooked, and soaked in something weird. The consistency was mushy. I doubt it’s from the pre-​frozen strawberries. My friend got their sweet bread french toast and I tried a piece. It tasted like it was dipped in eggs and that’s it. Sprinkled with powder sugar, trust me it did not mask the taste. It makes me even sadder since this was just another bad experience with a food place for my best friend who is visiting.
I’m giving them 3 stars in hopes it will improve their batters. Or maybe because it’s rush hour time. But you would think it shouldn’t matter and they would be used to it. I’ve been here at rush hour time and didn’t have this experience.
However their service is impeccable and I really liked the woman at the counter I think her name is Lolita? She was kind to us and took off the disgusting stuff from our menu. Maybe one day I will return and have an amazing experience again.

You know what’s sad, the food is good … but the service here is what is lacking …
Staff is not smiling … you are overstaffed … water is not brought till after 10 minutes of sitting down … coffee is served cold, no place settings on the table …
My grandmas meal comes with potato salad (ZERO TASTE BTW… at least it was decent mayo, not the nasty pasty cheap kind) WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU BRING JUST THE POTATO SALAD, BEFORE THE COFFEE or WATER IS EVEN SERVED?!
We come here a lot, this visit I’m super disappointed with the service, like I said — taste saves them …
My Kal-​bi and eggs is perfect after my lift sesh, my grandma loves the Ahi plate

So let’s start at the beginning. The bathroom for the ladies is unsanitary for 2 reasons. 1. It stinks and smells like poop. So you can imagine what you are breathing in. Doesn’t take much to get an air freshener to go off every 30−60secs. 2. The faucet is a joke. It’s like the ones in the 80s where u have to use 1 hand t turn it to hold the water and rinse ur other hand. How do people with use of one hand use these? I had a hard time turning it and can imagine how bacteria ridden it is.
3. For two people they seat us next to a joined table for another 2 people. It’s like a table for 4. We couldn’t have a conversation because we were sitting with strangers inches away and can’t hear each other talk. There was other tables available but nope they sit strangers with us. Our tables are less than 1 inch apart.
4. Cream/​milk is sitting in little cups at all of the tables. And it’s not cold.
4. Let’s see how the food is and I’ll update. So far this place fails.
5. Ok so it kept getting worse. I had to chase down for refills on my coffee. The food came out — we had the French toast Mandarin orange special and eggs, potatoes and bacon. The bacon was not crisp as ordered and had translucent fat visible and was limp. The French toast was worse. The toast was not seasoned — just egg flavor on bread. The Mandarin oranges were 7 pieces from a can. It didn’t add any flavor or sweetness. The whole thing was smothered in too much whip cream.
6. The people next to us kept complaining about their loco mocos being terrible and just got up to go pay at the cashier because the waiter didn’t bring their check.
7. Again I had to chase down the waiter for our check and then went to stand in line to pay.
The entire system is in need of an overhaul. The food and bad service ensure I will Never go here again.
Can I give negative stars?
The server was Jose and the guy that dropped off the silverware with the major attitude was Eryk. They are both terrible and need an overhaul in customer service. Don’t like your job? Then quit. The owners need to rehaul the food, staff and bathrooms. This place is not for locals.

Craving breakfast late at night? Eggs n things is me and my boyfriends go-​to place :) it’s open until midnight, and the menu has a big selection. My boyfriend always gets the corned beef hash and eggs with potatoes. Some things I usually get is the banana pancakes, eggs Benedict, and tonight I tried the sour cream and strawberry crêpe for the first time. The eggs benedicts and pancakes are always really good. They have 3 syrups that accompany your pancakes or waffles or French toast: coconut, original, or guava. All 3 are good in my opinion.
The crepes are pretty good, but if you are looking for a basic sweet crêpe, I would get something else. The sour cream balances out the sweetness so the crêpe isn’t super sweet. For a unique treat, I’d still say it’s worth trying.
Service here is always consistent (when we usually go at night after I end work). Our server Lawrence (I think) was friendly, and we were surprised he remembered us after going there just once.
While this is not the cheapest place to get breakfast food, this place is definitely worth trying or getting a late-​night breakfast meal :)

Totally overhyped. We went a little after 1pm and it was busy, but we were seated right away. We only saw Japanese tourists in there, ordering the requisite pancakes or waffles piled high with whipped cream. I ordered the eggs Benedict with 3 buttermilk pancakes and my dad got the spinach, bacon, and cheddar cheese omelet with fried potatoes. The omelet was slightly better than my eggs Benedict. The only really yummy thing there was the coffee. We must’ve gotten 4 refills. I tried the guava syrup on my pancakes, but didn’t care too much for it; it was sickly sweet. The original syrup was better. My dad liked the coconut one, but he likes all things coconut.
Service was friendly and prompt. Food really wasn’t anything to write home about. Prices were decent considering the amount of food you get.

The island eggs and Portuguese breakfast plate was delicious. And for someone watching carb intake, this is a good choice. The sausage has well charred. The scrambled eggs has the perfect texture. The amount of food is just right. Coffee is good.
However, it comes to 3 pancakes. And their pancakes are so good! It is the right size, more texture, and there are coconut and grave syrup to enjoy with.
Service is great. Servers are nice and friendly. Thursday mornings are quite busy. We came at 8:30am and it was full, and was seated 10 minutes later.
Environment is clean and new. The restrooms are clean.
This is an update review for night service. We went for the Thursday night 20% off after 4 pm deal. The night service has less servers, which makes seating customers and taking orders much slower.
The oxtail was not good. It had too much five spice power all over the soup. All I can smell is the power. It was not appetizing at all.
The pork Adobe fried rice was good and tasty.
The spinach and artichoke dip was ok.
The Portuguese sausage was always very good.

I enjoy eating out at this location as it is my first time being here, we were seated pretty fast and customer service was very friendly and the food also came out fast! Food was delicious
I would sure come back.

As the end of our trip got closer, we began to cross off places on our must-​try list. Egg & Things apparently has a wait as early as 6:30 or 7am, & after a long day on the North Shore we decided to switch things up & have breakfast for dinner. The upside was that there was no wait.
I’m giving 3 stars because the scrambled eggs & Portuguese sausage is a competently-​prepared meal, but it’s not my favorite rendition. Honestly, I would have loved a piece of toast or an English muffin as well, but the egg breakfasts don’t include that. However, a nice bonus was that kids meals on Sunday are free. Final thought: Eggs & Things might be a little like Matsumoto shaved ice for me. Seems to be locally beloved, but I walked away with the «it’s OK» feeling.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed. With all the popularity I guess maybe I had my hopes too high. My experience was nothing more than mediocre.
I had their plantation iced tea to drink and perhaps I should just give up ordering it but it was very watered down to me. I didn’t like it and ended up not finishing it.
For my food I ordered the veggie omelet, which according to their menu was one of their popular items. It was bland and had no taste. I had to smother it in ketchup in order to taste anything. Disappointing.
I ordered it with a side of their also popular strawberry pancakes for extra. It was three pancakes with a mound of whipped cream sprinkled with macnuts. It must’ve been about half a foot high… I’m not a fan of whipped cream so I ended up discarding most of it. The pancakes themselves were okay. Nothing to die for.
The only plus was I really liked their coconut syrup. The guava one was so so. Id probably use regular syrup over the guava.
Service was also mediocre. You order at your table and pay at the front. Apparently there’s a kamaaina discount? I could be mistaken. I didn’t use it though because I had an ID card (10% off before 4, 20% off after 4).
Would I come back? Maybe for their dinner menu. But for breakfast? Most likely not. There’s a lot of other options in the area for nearly half the price.
