Egan’s Fit Body Bootcamp

I really like the trainers at Eagan’s on King St. For the most part they seem genuinely caring. I got great results from working out there when I was able to make it for at least four classes per week. Getting to that point took a good amount of encouragement from the other bootcampers, and from the trainers.
I hope the following will be helpful for some who are on the fence about joining.
I believe that it is always a bad sign when pricing isn’t provided in a transparent manner on a website. The cost of this training center, for the bootcamp class portion, ranges from $ 267 per month to $ 177 per month depending upon how much you can pay at once, or how long you are able to agree to pay in advance/​sign a contract for. For that price, you are not going to get very much personal on-​on-​one correction or observation, which I feel is risky unless you are already really fit and know your body. They will try to get you to come in for a fitness consult, probably to push a meal plan on you, but these are not nutritionists… be mindful people. Further, you aren’t carefully watched at the beginning, but simply encouraged to go at your own pace. I hurt myself once after being pushed by guy to do pull ups without a strap… even after I asked to use one… he insisted in a militant way that instead, my partner would hold my legs as I did them. She was half my size, both in weight and in height. My arm muscle was pulled and it put me back for a week or more. I can only imagine that she must have also sprained something trying to hold someone my size. In another instance, one of the trainers kept going on about pushing my boobs out to look better. It is a plus that working out makes us look better, but I’m interested in feeling better and being healthy not obsessing over how my boobs look. Is that appropriate for young women who work out in there, some as young as high-​school age? Sad.
Since the «training» center moved from Manoa to Moiliili (Honolulu), I have been more and more turned off to the place due to the overwhelming amount that they market their clients on additional promotions… even down to a special bikini I should think about wearing in order to take part in their beach bootcamp Olympics coming soon. Of course, most of the promos for extra $$ will definitely help you reach lofty fitness goals… more one-​on-​one time if you pay a lot extra to be a «life-​changer,» educational classes, healthy meal plans, etc. However, at the month-​to-​month base price of $ 267, one might expect to get some of that included… not the bikini of course.
Also, the «marketing» lets say, often has a lot to do with drumming up new business. So, each month one will experience a flood of really new people who are doing a promo or trail. The parking lot gets very CRAZY, and the classes are packed like the parking lot. Thus, it makes me wonder how some of the really young trainers at Egan’s can keep a good eye on everyone in a responsible way. The majority of the trainers I had were once clients of Egan’s, and so I’m not sure what kind of certification program, if any, is required to work there as a «trainer.» Also on this note, the space is small and the bodies are packed in there… fyi.
I really wish that the well-​being of each client would be considered more thoughtfully, and that rather than focusing so much on the need for new clients constantly, that they really focused on each of the ones who already committed to paying a high price up front. The constant marketing makes you feel like your $ 177-​$ 267 is not enough for them, but rather to really be in the loop with the trainers you must fork out an additional chunk of change.
I have gotten good results from this place; let me be very clear about that. They are in no way misrepresenting what they sell, and all of the five stare reviews are accurate. I felt the need to share this experience, and feel that if you are somewhat new to really high intensity training, don’t like huge crowds and/​or are turned off by heavy marketing and promo pushing, this is NOT the place for you. I have decided to opt out of the two and a half more months I have left on my contract, loosing money, because I am just over it. I hope this helps some of you who may be wondering!

I am a big girl. But I have joined a lot of gyms in the past, and have participated in a lot of workout programs, both at gyms and at home. So I have a pretty ok endurance. I was also certified as a Turbo Kick Instructor a few years ago, and that came in handy when I joined this bootcamp. The gym I attended prior to Egan’s did not motivate me. It was the same old workout every day. And I didn’t like the atmosphere. Basically, I was bored, lost interest, and hardly attended a full week of workouts.
Then one day, on social media, I saw a photo of a dear friend of mine, who is also my wedding planner! She looked INCREDIBLE! I found that through this Bootcamp, she had lost 50 pounds in 3 months! I immediately contacted her and wanted to know every move she made, how she ate, how she changed her thinking… and she directed me to Egan’s Fit Body Bootcamp.
I connected with another friend, Heather, who is also a trainer at the Waipio location. She is incredibly fit and fabulous, and I wanted to start drinking the ‘same water!’ Within a week, I joined. I started going 5 days a week, and now I am into my week 4 and have already lost 11 pounds!!!
When I joined, we were still at the Manoa location. This week is the first week at the NEW and FABULOUS location on King Street! It is stunning! It is MUCH larger than the old location; brand new mats and bags; there is a changing/​storage room for men and women. PLUS, we have a CAGE for MMA and other Jiu Jitsu classes! We often use the cage for our workouts because the classes right now are FULL! Lots of new members. So we jump in there to take advantage of the space. :) I’d say there are around 40 people in our 5am class at the moment but the space is still large enough for us to move around comfortably.
The instructors are so awesome. Kimi is very informative, and always full of ENERGY! Even at 5 in the morning! LOL. Her assistant, Sean is super encouraging, helpful, and personable. Egan usually leads the Monday classes and promises to pack that 30 minutes with some of the craziest circuits you’ve ever seen! LOL! Heather is the instructor at the Waipio location, and she takes NO EXCUSES! LOL. She is strong, active, and challenges you to challenge yourself! They are all SUPER supportive, and are always checking up on me to see how I’m doing. I LOVE THAT! They also provide nutrition information, informative email newsletters, and I even got a personalized card in the mail from them, telling me they support me and my journey! How cool is that? I am not just another member. They know my name, and my fitness journey. Awesome.
I love my 5 am crew! Everyone is very friendly and encouraging, and we push each other to DO MORE! The workouts vary every day, which makes it FUN and EXCITING! We use equipment like: punching bags, sand bags, shields, thai pads, medicine balls, sliders, ropes, bands… very well stocked!
Overall, I am so happy to have FINALLY found a workout home! They have met every expectation I have and more. The fees vary depending on what you are signing up for, and when you sign up. Currently, there are special deals to get started with Bootcamp. It is definitely WORTH every penny. Egan’s Fit Body Bootcamp is changing lives. I am so blessed to be a part of TEAM AWESOME!

I went to my first bootcamp class at Egan Inoue’s Fit Body Boot Camp NEW Location at 2700 South King St at 8:40am today and loved it! Very spacious and clean. Wonderfully air conditioned, new mats so you don’t need to wear shoes. Also a changing room with a place to put our belongings. The 30 minute class was awesome, and I was sweating within the first 10 minutes, so a sweat towel is a MUST! I am very happy with the new location because it’s convenient to take the King St exit (from East Oahu), it’s a couple driveways past Humane Society.
