DoubleTree by Hilton Alana-Waikiki Beach

It’s ok. Valet guys and desk staff are very nice. Gym is small, but modern. Location right across the street from Ft Derrusey and a block down from Hilton.

The hotel conveniently located in the middle of everything. It worked out perfectly for us since we decided to rent bicycles to explore the area. They also have designated places to park your bicycles right in front of the hotel.
We got a King suite with a private bedroom and a pulled out sofa bed enough to sleep 4 people. The room came with a nice little balcony overlooking the city. My friend booked the hotel, and didn’t tell us much about the details. We arrived after them, not knowing any better, went to the front desk to check in and was told to pay about $ 100 extra. Being a cheap Asian that I am, I made up an excuse not to check in and called my friend to meet up with them in the room instead. They do offer free cookies, so that made up for the overprice charge. (which we didn’t pay of course lol)

My family was booked here for our vacation for 9 days, we had a great stay here! The staff was so welcoming and helpful, we were greeted with warm cookies upon checking in; and they were delicious! The room was clean and beautiful, spacious room with air conditioning; clean beds, a hide away bed with memory foam & a lani with chairs and a small table. They have only valet parking which is 31.95 a day but worth it since there is no parking near by! They have a heated pool & you don’t need to bring towels, you get to floor M where the pool is located and there are big green pool towels available for you! For some reason my room card didn’t work and they fixed it quickly at the front desk after I showed them my ID, they gave us complementary warm cookies for our trouble! Our family enjoyed our stay here!

I had a wonderful time and the folks at the front desk were so nice and helpful. Located very conveniently and everything is within walking distance. This hotel was priced very reasonable and within my budget.

A 1 star rating based on expectations from a double tree. Mediocre place at best.
Elevator was out, then another one was out. Now there is one left. It seems like no one is panicking. What if someone was having an emergency like a heart attack and they’re on a high floor? They would die because DT didn’t care to fix the other elevators.
They missed cleaning our hotel room a few times and I had to remind them.
300 dollars a night will get you a mid level floor with «partial ocean view,» which in layman terms is a sliver of ocean 4 blocks away that is visible between 2 high rises.
I agree with other posts, no A/​C in hallways. But I think that’s a thing here in mid level high rises and hotels.
Shady pool, weak gym and no perks.
Wouldn’t recommend anyone to stay here.

So, I’m a huge Hilton-​phile. I’ve been various statuses including Hilton Diamond over the years. I tend to enjoy the Doubletree properties on vacation (and the core Hilton some times). They tend to offer a mid-​range product at a fair price.
This location is run-​down, and the service was mediocre. The staff were all very pleasant, but it still was not the best experience Hilton could give. Our view included some very run-​down parts of town (called the mountain view) and when you walked in to the hallway you may as well be outside because on both ends (high floor) the windows are open and it’s sticky.
This, of course, weakens the effect of the AC in your room as well. If found I was pretty warm at night and did not sleep as well as I normally would (even accounting for the time change).
All, in all, if you can only find this place or it fits your budget, go for it. However, for me I will be selecting a different Hilton property next time… in fact we are leaving this one to switch early.

Good location & fair price for Waikiki.
Front desk did not have my Hilton honors number when checking in & asked that I call the number down to them once I got to my room? Lack of customer service to simply find my number via the hhonors website.
They placed me in a room next to the hotel housekeeping staff on the 5^th floor due to this which happened to be located next to the housekeeping staffs closet/​workroom.
This resulted in the door being slammed numerous times in early morning hours along with loud chatter. The hotel elevator shook several times while on elevator number 1. The hotel hallways are not air conditioned. Upon check in the front desk agent stated we had a «mountain view «
which is not truthful. The view was of other buildings. Unless this is the only hotel on Waikiki with available rooms I will not stay here again.

Stayed here for 5 nights, got a great rate of 151/​per night. The hotel seems older, but they are obviously updating it with the renovation of the front entrance which is barricaded off making it a little difficult if you have a vehicle. First and foremost all of the staff I encountered were incredibly friendly and hospitable. I had a room facing inland. It was clean, comfortable and the sleep quality good. Each room has a small balcony. The bathroom was pretty spacious for a regular room which I really liked. What I did not like was the AC in the room, while cool… did not allow you to go below 68 – 69. I like it cooler at night so that was a con. The hallways were über hot, no air flow at all including in the elevators which would not have been an issue had it not been 90 degrees plus. I did order room service one evening, and it was pretty decent food.
All and all it was a comfortable stay… nothing more nothing less. While I would probably stay here again if I was able to get such a good rate again, I did find the beachfront properties more enticing. My colleagues were staying at the Hilton Hawaiian Village for maybe 15 bucks more a night than here and they were given meal/​food vouchers and the property was chock full of services.

I LOVE this place! Haven’t been back since my wedding day so it was really nice to take the kids for a little staycation. Rooms are beautiful! Cookie are yummy as always.
Deducted one star because of the construction that made it confusing to get in. And the fact that we had to park across the street even though it’s free having 4 kids with you and a baby with a stroller is not easy trying to go in and out of the hotel!

Here on a staycation w/​the family. Pulled in and the valet guys were very friendly and service amazing. Due to renovations we had to park across the street but that wasn’t a big deal, just a chance to check out what was next to the hotel.
Check-​in process was really easy and of course the kids really enjoyed the cookies Room very clean and updated It’s been so hot so coming into a nice cool room was very nice. Impressed w/​the very clean and modern looking bathroom and amenities in the room. Lighting great and we loved our radio and TV in our room as everything was working properly.
The pool was great and opens until 10pm They have great views from the pool deck. I really enjoyed being able to see the pool from the gym being a gym goer I did really appreciate their clean and well stocked gym they pretty much have everything and more for a great workout. Elevators were nice and clean and everything from the lobby to the hall ways seem very updated and I enjoyed the clean smell and am very impressed with this place so far. It’s only the first night so I can’t wait to experience breakfast.

This is specifically for the call center. I made a reservation– and then had to cancel it within the timeframe that they specified I needed to cancel and not be charged a fee.
When I called to cancel the reservation, they tried to hit me with a $ 400 cancellation fee. I had to yell and scream and get escalated to a manager before they agreed to cancel the entire reservation without a fee. I will not be returning to book a hotel room at this company.

We recently stayed here for a holiday weekend and I would say that overall, this is not a bad hotel to stay at. With that said, I wouldn’t say that there is really anything special about this hotel either. It’s a simple hotel that provides the basic necessities – so if all you need is a relatively comfy place to stay at, I believe that this hotel would work for you.
PROS: The staff are all extremely friendly, especially the reception desk. There is a gym area so if you want to catch a workout you are able to do so (free of charge). Aside from that there is also a tiny pool and a restaurant that you can eat at, just in case you don’t want to go anywhere far to be able to eat. Also it is close to other surrounding hotels, shopping areas, and 5 – 10 minute walk from the beach front. To top it off, they give you free cookies, which was delicious.
CONS: The primary con is really the parking situation. This hotel only offers vallet parking, which costs $ 30 a night. We had stayed a total of 6 days for our trip, so at max this equates to $ 180. I think this is pretty ridiculous for parking alone. The only other con that they had during our trip was that they were under renovation in the main entrance of the hotel so it looked a little run down.

I’ve stayed here several times and the front desk staff is always friendly and the room is nicely appointed.
Common areas could use a makeover.
Restaurant is terrible. Awful place to grab dinner.
The breakfast buffet is less than mediocre.
No flexibility. Had 2 breakfast coupons and wanted to upgrade to the hot buffet, but they wouldn’t let me. I have 2 coupons I’ll give them both up for you!!!
As a Hilton Diamond member I’m surprised they never seem to be able to upgrade my room.
You get what you pay for.
I’d like to pay for a decent dinner!

Top notched service! First visit in Hawaii for my sisters wedding. We were able to stay at this hotel using travel points. This made our stay here $ 37/​night. Sweeeet!!! Hotel is located where all the action for tourist was at! It was an AmaZing view!!!

Came here for a seminar — little did I know it would be to my displeasure.
My biggest gripe is that they need to work on their signage game. There was some construction so I didn’t see the driveway right away (Sign #1). Then, I was about to roll up the parking structure when the valets started yelling at me because it’s valet only (Sign #2).
Then I had to go up to floor M to find the seminar, and I’m certain that if I didn’t have people to follow who’d already found the room, I would’ve been lost (Sign #3). And then at the end of the day, no one told us to go to the front desk to pay so I waited in the valet line for 15 minutes and another 15 minutes at the front desk (Sign #4).
Another thing to boot is their customer service — yes, you are stressed out. I think if you had better and just more signs in general, lines wouldn’t accumulate like they did the day I went.
Wouldn’t recommend this place as an event venue at all. Valet parking only is no bueno. As a hotel, location seems good but the customer service seems a bit wishy washy.

We have stayed here many times and this is our favorite Waikiki hotel. Has a great location and always very friendly staff. Its location makes an easy walk to all our favorite places and it’s far enough away from the craziness of downtown Waikiki to be relaxing. Good place to stay.

Pros: this is where my fiancé stays during his business trips. The location is perfect because it’s far enough from the beach to avoid crowds and tourists. However, it’s also within reasonable walking distance (less than 5 min) from the beach. It’s far enough from the tourists that the hotel has this nice calm/​peaceful feel. Close enough to tourist areas to take advantage of a variety of activities and dining options. Our room, I loved it. Corner penthouse suite had an amazing bathroom. Will remodel our bathroom at home to resemble this one. Of course the view was amazing (mountain and ocean views).
Cons: no self parking, only valet

I can sit here and nitpick all the stuff I liked and didn’t like about the room, but I’m gonna skip all of that and talk about the more important stuff: customer service and over all experience here!
On our last night, my family and I returned to our room around 1 a. m only to discover that our door lock’s battery is dead and we were locked out of our hotel room… The lady at the front desk asked me to patiently wait for someone to fix the door. A few minutes later a gentleman (Jacob Preston) met us outside our room and tried to unlock it with some device. After several tries, it didn’t work and that’s when he turned to me and offered a temporary room for the night until the door is fixed. Before agreeing to a new room, I voiced my concerns since my dad’s medication was inside the room. Jacob (who by the way is also a manager at this hotel), was pretty much irritated with what I had to say. He made us feel like we were an inconvenience to him and his establishment and acted like it was our fault the room battery died! He also rudely said «Either take the new room or stay out here and wait for the door to get fixed». His approach to the whole situation was rude and definitely not the kind of service Hawaiian hospitality is known for! He even accused me of yelling at him when in reality my voice in the quite halls just echoed at one in the morning, lol!
At this point, we followed him to the new room and we were left there without any room keys. I went downstairs to ask for keys and spoke to the front desk representative and complained about their manager’s behavior while he stood there still pointing fingers and he acted as if he was victim with the whole situation… When my parents were already asleep in the temporary room he offered I received a call around 3:30 in the morning notifying me that the room has been fixed. It was such an inconvenience considering we were so tired from a night out with our family that lives on the other side of the island!
That whole experience ruined our night, but I will give credit where credit is due. Upon check out, the nice lady at the front desk asked me to wait a little longer because their «manager» wanted to speak to me. I didn’t want to wait since I thought it was going to be Jacob, but that’s when Mr. Clinton Yamashita politely walked out of his office and talked to me about the situation from the night before. Clinton can definitely teach Jacob a thing or two about good customer service and how a manager should deal with certain situations! Clinton was very sympathetic about the unfortunate event and also took care of a few things to compensate for the trouble the locked door cause us on our stay! His approach and his willingness to talk to me definitely made me feel better.
Overall, I would recommend this place for it’s location. As long as you don’t have to deal with Jacob’s arrogance, you’d have a nice stay here!

Pretty average hotel overall. We had a two queen bed suite with a city view, which basically amounted to an oddly designed room overlooking the parking lot. The two beds in the suite are in a kinda-​sorta separate room overlooking a couch and living room sort of arrangement with a TV on the wall that the couch is facing. This means, if you’re into watching TV in bed, you’ve got to be sitting totally upright to clear the top of the couch and see the TV. Additionally, this is yet another hotel I’ve stayed at recently where the bathroom door facing the bedroom is frosted glass… So when you get up to pee in the middle of the night you’re forced to choose between either doing it by the light of your iPhone screen or waking everyone else in the room up with how bright it makes the bedroom area.
Also, their whole cookie gimmick seems real weird. Everywhere they’re boasting about how you get a free warm cookie when you check in. Maybe I’ve been watching too much Kitchen Nightmares, but this kind of thing just reeks of someone like Gordon Ramsay being like «You need something to get people in the door, what if you made the best home baked chocolate chip cookie in Waikiki and served it warm to your guests?» It’s not that the cookie was bad, it just seems like a weird thing to have so much of your branding revolve around.
Other than that, the location were good, beds were soft, linens were nice, WiFi was $ 10 a day and so slow you might as well not even bother. For the price, this is probably the best you’re going to get within walking distance of everything cool in Waikiki.

I like this place. At first glance it’s a nicely remodeled older hotel.
The staff is super friendly and the rates are better than most places you’d want to stay at in Waikiki.
Big shout out to the front desk for upgrading us to an upper level corner ocean view room with 2 separate balconies. One of the perks of being a Hilton Diamond member.
Pluses you’re in Hawaii, the air conditioning in the room kicks ass, nice linen /​comfy pillows and it’s very organized and clean.
The only things you want to be aware of its about 3 blocks from the beach, the pool is smaller and full of Japanese children doing cannon balls, screaming at the top their lungs in their native tongue, so you will get splashed and have no way of telling them to «knock it off» (any Unilocaler out there feel free to send me a message on how say «knock it off» in Japanese). None of the above mentioned is a deal breaker for me.
The crappy thing but you going to find a lot of the same at all the resorts is the $ 30 a day for valet only parking. I think this sucks but whatcha gonna do?
If you’re cool not being on the beach but walking a short distance, I will highly recommend this place.
4 stars could have been 5 stars but that $ 30 a day parking fee is costing them 1 star.
