These are fruits that have been dehydrated, cooked in a broth of licorice herb extract and salt and sugar, and then they are dried or may be left wet.
History
Established in 1979.
Crack seed is a very interesting and very old snack food.
It is sweet and it is sour and it is salty at the same time and yet you can taste each flavor separately. That makes crack seed very interesting and very complex flavor.
It was conceive in China for the travelers. The fruits are preserved in salt so that the fruit could be carried on long journeys.
When they came to Hawaii as sugar cane worker, they brought the their preserves with them.
