never coming back to this chun wah kam ever! my bf & I go in to buy food and this waitress was helping us but there was other people ordering and this other waitress lady was just laughing and being very unproffessional. she couldnt stop laughing while taking orders. and while we was ordering all i could smell was cleaning products. it was only 6:00& they close at 7:00, kind of too early to be cleaning. i hated my first experience there! never again

Omg I think I’m in love. Pros; 1. Crispy Gaugee 2. Ginger Chicken Fried Rice 3. Chow Fun 4. Pork Eggplant 5. Furikake Fried Rice 6. Spicy Shrimp 7. Mushroom Chicken Cons; 1. Pinacbet had a lot of bitter notes and the ocra is super slimy. 2. Roast Pork is super salty With those two sour notes aside, I can honestly say that this place rocks. They give generous portions, prices are reasonable and they have ginger chicken fried rice!!! Need I say more?!

Good portions, reasonably priced, relatively tasty but no spicy sauces I.e. Sriracha, chili, tobasco… NOTHING, not even soy sauce. Gigantic dining space but rarely occupied, hmm… Live and work right around the block but visit much less due to the fact.

I really like chun wah kam. It’s cheap, they give large portions(I can share a mini with a 2nd and maybe even a 3rd person), and it’s tasty. Only thing is, I don’t think they deliver. If they delivered, I’d order for work! I usually go to the location on Pensacola St. There’s a private lot that looks small, but there are a fair number of stalls. There’s a fast turnover of customers so there usually are stalls open. It’s usually crowded, but the line moves fast. You have to take a number then wait a few minutes for the next available person to help. You can also do pick up orders if you’re very familiar with the menu — there are a lot of choices! Yummm. My favorites are ginger chicken rice, mushroom chicken, mabo tofu, and spicy eggplant. Craving chun wah kam now…

I’m new to the island and searching for a location that can fulfill my cravings for greasy LA fast food Chinese. This is the closest I have come. They are quick with their service, happy to answer any questions, and have pretty large portions for a good price. I loved the variety of noodles and rice they offer.

First time at this location. Came around lunch time, not too bad of a crowd, place seemed cleaned and organized(with ticket numbers). The crispy kaugee is enough to give this place 5 stars. The girl behind the counter was nice as we picked our plate lunch. 4 small portions to choose from and 2 starches of rice and noodles. I choose the ginger chicken fried rice and fat noodles. The other portions I really don’t remember, nor do I have any evidence left over of what I ate, but it was good. Eat here…

A lot of people I know say the food is not that good, but in my experience, it was jus fine, especially for the price. I would most definitely come again and even say its one of the best deals in town. Cant speak for the other locations but pensacola was good.

SOSLOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!! TAKE A LESSONFROMPANDA! I WAITED10 minutes and only 3 people were served . No one wants to wait half an hour just to order. I was #61 and the slow employees were only on #28!!! Owners– you should go at lunch rush to see how inefficient your system is!!!

I’ve always heard about the place, tried their Manapua, but never tried their food until I moved back to Hawaii. Lucky, or should I say unluckily for my, it is in such close proximity to my house that I usually pick something up on the way home! What I have learned, it’s better to go for lunch than dinner, because by 5pm, most of the goodies are sold out! Some of the things I love are the fried udon, the garlic rice(only on some weekends) and the ginger chicken rice(so delicious!) Everything else is pretty standard with the type of food their serve, a lot of fried items and oily pan-fried foods. Delicious! But not something I should be eating regularly. haha.

I really only come here to get trays of the furikake fried rice and a couple different types of noodles. Great to bring to a potluck! I called in my order a few hours ahead of time and it was ready, neatly packaged, and piping hot when I arrived to pick it up. The furikake fried rice is so, so, so good that I could eat it every day, given the chance.

I love this place! The guy who made my plate piled my food up! He even asked me if it was good enough and I was like«whoa» lol! It was way more than enough! He was very attentive and efficient in helping me decide what to choose. Customer service is 100%!!! And so is the food. I’m super happy right now. For two regular plates, a large coke and 2 rice cakes; it came out to $ 25.18. Totally worth it! :) plus too, the place is always clean!

1 stars for the udon with bacon. The only real reason I go. They close at 7 which isn’t real convenient but be warned if you go after 6, the food quality suffers. You basically get what’s left over and lots of times they’ll consolidate the pans in one area so they can clean the other areas. So what you get are some entries aren’t kept on heat and the others, well, they get dried out and chewy. Visited about 615 the other day and the dining room was closed. From the odor of the place, it was apparent they cleaned up. Notice the trend, hurry up and clean so we can dig right at 7. The inmates are running the asylum here. Someone should step in and teach these peeps some customer service, yes I would like to eat in your store, yes I do wish you smiled, and yes I do wish you’d thank me for visiting instead of shooing me out the door. Ps. Wouldn’t be bad if you labeled your dishes. Maybe that’s why employee morale seems low, seems every customer asks… What’s that? Pss. The pull a number thing. Why not just queue people in line. I see it over and over, people unaware of the system, meanwhile 10 people have pulled numbers after they’ve arrived

The food here is decent and they give huge portions. If you get the regular size plate, you can get 2 starches and 4 items of your choice. We got here around 5pm and they were already out of a lot of things. My favorite thing to get from here is the green onion and ginger chicken fried rice. This is the best fried rice ever. It’s a little oily and a little salty from the green onion and ginger sauce but it hits the spot. There weren’t too many choices left, so I decided on the minute chicken, lemon chicken, sweet and sour spareribs, and sweet and sour fried fish. Both of the chicken dishes were ok. The sweet and sour fish was ok, as well. They were drenched in sauce and just sitting there, so of course it was soggy. Soggy is not my thing. The sweet and sour spareribs was by far my favorite of the day. There was a nice balance in the sweet and vinegary marinade. The meat was tender. They close at 7pm but by 5:20pm all the chairs were already up, except for the 3 tables that were being occupied. A group of 4 guys came in afterward and had to take the chairs down to sit. If you’re a customer, you should not have to take down chairs to sit down. Also, there was this local girl that worked there who called out to her co-worker, calling him«NIGGA,» in front of all the customers and my African-American husband. Her co-worker wasn’t even Black, he was Asian. Epic Fail !!! :(

Usually, I go to their Kapolei location since I’m typically on that side. But today, I was in town so I made the trip to go here in the morning around 930am. The food is always good from Chun Wa Kam so I wasn’t really disappointed with it. Just the pork adobo was kind of dry and it’s not like I came later in the day or anything where it might’ve been out for awhile. Ginger rice, orange chicken and roast pork were definitely good though. Customer service on the other hand, was bad. The workers at this location aren’t as friendly or as welcoming as the workers in Kapolei who always do as much as they can. There was an older couple ahead of me and the guy that was assisting them had somewhat better customer service then the girl who helped me. It’s just my opinion but good customer service can go along way and usually people would come back just for that. I think I’ll just stick with the Kapolei location.

Today’s visit is not as good as my last. I ordered the char siu pork and sweet sour fish. I did come in later in the day so that could mitigate some of my reasons for marking them down a little. The char siu pork was on the tough side. That could’ve because it was sitting in the tray for a long time. The sweet sour fish was okay. The thick noodles were like the char siu, seemingly stale from sitting a long time. The thin noodles were good, though. I’d order that again. The service seemed not so friendly though. There was no warm friendly service to welcome you. It was just tell me what you want and pay. Is it me or am I just old fashioned? A smile would have gone a long way to me feel invited. Otherwise the food was okay and they did give ample serving.

Mediocre manapuas… limited review. I picked up manapuas to go one afternoon recently. They were out of many of the manapuas but did have some char siu, shoyu chicken, and curry chicken. The manapuas were probably old, but they also weren’t that good. The bread was a bit dry and the filling was not very flavorful. The service there was awesome though and made up for the food. The cashier was very accommodating and even gave me a manapua for on the road.

We’ve been meaning to try Chun Wah Kam Noodle Factory’s Pensacola Street location for quite some time, as we always pass it on our way to Ala Moana Shopping Center as well as Ala Moana Beach Park. This location has lots of parking(more than their Kalihi location) as well as a large dining room with modern décor for sit down/dine in option(again, versus their Kalihi location which is solely take-out). Plate lunch(2 entrée or 4 entrée) option. Ala carte(pint, quart, family size) option. Variety of manapuas, rice cakes, egg tarts/custards, pork hash, etc. Lots of choices: 4 or 5 types of noodles(chow mien, chow fun, fried udon, cake noodle, etc.) and 4 or 5 types of fried rice. Some of their meat items were a bit fattier and chewier than I’d like, but the flavors were great. We like the orange chicken, minute chicken, kung pao chicken, spicy garlic chicken, eggplant with tofu, etc. Casual atmosphere(water in the dining room is served from a Gatorade jug) but we like it. Great place for lunch after a morning at the beach.

Chun Wah Kam is my go to place to feed a crowd on a budget. They have saved me more than once when I needed something fast and easy. There are over 40 options to choose from, here are my picks: For a starch, the Ginger Chicken Fried Rice is unique and tasty, just about everyone likes this one. For vegetarians or just to up the veggie content, the Tofu, Mushroom, and Choy Sum is a good choice so is the Garlic Green Beans. For entrées, the Mapo Tofu or Pork Eggplant aren’t spicy and have lots of gravy and ground pork. Some lighter options are the Chinese Chicken Salad and the Chicken and Vegetables – chicken stir-fried with zucchini, mushrooms, and onion. Make it a party by adding Gau Gee or Manapua. Call ahead and your order will be ready when you get there. They will also let you make split/mixed pans and plates so you can get even more variety in each order. It isn’t traditional Chinese, this is local to da max, and the servings are HUGE so be conservative when you order.

I’ve been going to CWK Noodle Factory’s second location ever since they opened near the Ward theater complex. It is an great place for Chinese food take-out or you can eat at the self-service tables. There are so many goodies at CWK and their food is usually consistent, full of flavors, cheap and portions are humongous! Panda Express has nothing on CWKNF. Once you walked into the place, you’ll see so many choices available behind the glass counters. Everything looked so good! The first thing to do is pull a number and you can start ordering when they call your number. While some patrons order their dim-sum items to go, I prefer to enjoy their mini or regular plates. Even when I order a mini plate, I still end up taking leftovers home. I always get their fried udon noodles as one of my starch choice. When it comes to the main dish item, I usually like to get the savory mapo-tofu or eggplant. It is tasty, satisfying and I like to chase it down with a healthy cup of iced water, compliments of the house. On occasions when I make it there before 3PM, I always asked for their hot noodle soup choices. The cook leaves by 3 o’clock so they stopped serving noodle soup for the day. Absolutely loved their fresh made thin Chinese noodles or udon soup! They soup comes in a gigantic bowl and the broth is steaming hot(just the way I like my soup)! I like how they add choi-sum, carrots and broccoli vegetables in the soup to round out the starch. This eatery is clean, modern and comfortable. I love how the place is not plastered in bright red colors nor overly ornate(so common in many Chinese restaurants). Ambiance is casual and low-keyed. That changes during the lunch hour rush though; it gets real busy but the staff is pretty efficient. CWK Noodle Factory is one of my top comfort-food places I frequent when I’m in the area. It’s just so easy getting there. Parking is ample and the service is friendly. CWKNF has all the ingredients of what it takes to be a longstanding restaurant in the neighborhood. Only gripe I have is that they close early. It would be nice if they could extend their hours beyond 7PM.
