History

Established in 2011.

Carval Café opened in 2011 at Waterfront Plaza (formerly Restaurant Row). Carl & Valerie Hamada, owners of the successful «The Lunch Bunch», a nutritional school lunch program and Carval Catering, a gourmet, boutique event caterer, needed a kitchen for their expanding operations. In 2011, Carl & Val moved their kitchen operations from Moilili to a quiet location near the Ewa side of Waterfront Plaza.

Meet the Business Owner

Valerie H.

Business Owner

Valerie Hamada opened the Lunch Bunch in 1989, with Dr. Sanford Saito. The purpose of establishing this company was to provide nutritional school lunches to preschools. Soon after, their accounts grew quickly, as there was a growing need for catered school lunches. In May of 2011, Valerie Hamada established Carval Café at Restaurant Row. The café provided the kitchen to prepare the school lunches as well as the first opportunity to provide quality gourmet lunches to the public.
