Black Diamond Nite Club

I like this place because it’s empty all the time. That means I can get to the bar without a hassle and practice my dance moves with a lot of space around me.

so this place used to be FASHION45 nightclub, according to my masseuse, and had just undergone its changeover. rather unsuccessful. tara put up the picture of me pointing at the sign, but be aware that the special smile was prior to entrance and is in no way an accurate reflection of that place. they tried, but it wasn’t working.

I’m being generous with my rating only because I saw potential. I went here with a couple girlfriends on Fri ⁶⁄₁₂ after I heard radio commercials about its grand opening and drink specials. There was nothing about it online yet, and there still isn’t actually. But whatever– I was on vacation and wanted to be adventurous and try the new club spot. The line for Zanzibar was obscenely long and way ghetto, but there was no one waiting for Black Diamond just upstairs (bad sign). Still, we gave it a try. $ 5 cover but you got a free drink with that. We went in. There were about 10 people total in there, plus the bar staff. It had a good amount of space, with lots of tables. The dancefloor was rather small but I suppose it would have been adequate. If you had a crowd to dance, that is. The go-​go dancers on their cubes were dancing their little hearts out and at least they were pretty hot and wearing schoolgirl uniforms– a somewhat overdone look, but still effective. There were two bar areas with the requisite silicon bartenders (anyone else notice that? In Honolulu, ALL the female bartenders I saw had implants. Hell, even in LA you still see natural breasts at the bars! But I digress…). The crazy thing was that nobody seemed to have to told the bar staff about the cover/​drink promotion so we were going back and forth between the bars while they figured it out. One bartender made my well drink, then found out it wasn’t covered by the free drink promo, so she tried to charge me. I turned her down, because at that point we were planning to bounce after one drink and go elsewhere. So rather than waste it, she just gave it to me (hello, couldn’t you just do that to begin with?). The free drinks were actually supposed to be made with this new lychee flavored liqueur, but they were awful! So after a total of about 20 minutes and gulping down our crappy drinks, we left. I felt a little bad because they seemed so sad that people were leaving, but what can you do? I’m being nice by giving 3 stars because I think it would be a decent club if they got their act together and there were actual people there.
