After living in the bay area for a very long time, I’ve been craving«real» Mexican food ever since i moved back home to Hawaii. BC Burrito on Waialae is as close to the bay area style Mexican that I’ve grown to love. They have a good variety of tortilla choices, but I’m a purist and like to stick with basic flour. They have the standard meat(steak or chicken or pork)/beans(black or pinto)/salsa(hot, medium, mild) choices that you’ll find at most Mexican spots. The huge self-serve hot sauce bar next to the soda machine is pretty cool. I would give it more stars if it weren’t so damn expensive for what it is.

Went to BC Burrito to get my burrito on. Good location, even though everywhere in that area you have to pay for parking. Went in and the Burrito-rista dude was nice and friendly. He helped me pick out the ingredients, many of them that will help keep me not thin. None the less, a super burrito was made and the Burrito-rista served me quickly as if I was robbing the store, but instead of money, I was stealing all their burritos. Damn burrito was tasty and it didn’t make a mess. I was clean and satisfied. Great place to go for Mexican. I didn’t see a real Mexican in the kitchen, but don’t let that deter you folks. Just like when you eat italian food in hawaii and get Vietnamese cooks, the food still good!

Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy Why are you closed at 3 pm, BC Burrito? I thought of you all the way home in rush hour traffic today. You were going to be my after work but before babysitting indulgence. Driving up Waialae I got an awesome parking spot — things were looking up! Your door was closed. I stared at the sign(open until 3 pm) but didn’t comprehend. No dinner!!! Sadness. Anger. Hunger. We might make up tomorrow morning…

2.5 stars. Pretty edible. Im spoiled so it comes down to how much of a brat do i wanna be? Theoretically I could give it 3 stars, cuz the Potato burrito is good and the Breakfast burrito is good, but that would sap my integrity in general. I was curious about the carne asada, BUTITLOOKEDLIKEDIARRHEA, so I had the carnitas. It was okay, the meat was decent, but for some reason the combination of ingredients and flavors just didn’t mix well. Why? Probably cuz its hawaii and no one here could make a burrito to save their life. Tortilla was junk, but edible. From now on i am only getting the breakfast burrito, which is what i came for but they stop serving it at 12. I think i liked this place better when it was papa johns. ps — you go to san francisco, pick ANY taqueria at random, for real, throw darts at a map or something, then come back and tell me that youre okay with eating this crap

They don’t pretend to be authentic to any particular food locale as far as I know, but they don’t need to – their inventive tasty burrito-y goodness stands alone! Choose your tortilla wrap(tomato, spinach, jalepeno, etc), choose a delectable meat(chile verde mmm), your choice of salsa, and they roll it all up into a burrito that is so huge you need two hands to hold it! I highly recommend the potato burrito. It’s full of diced potatoes seasoned with joy, chipotle ranch sauce that makes your tastebuds tingle and tango, and cheese that melts in your mouth. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. And you can also add meat to your potato burrito, making it extra delicioso. The super is big enough that I couldn’t even finish it in one go, I had to take a break, walk away for a few hours, and come back to finish it off. Oops, I think I’m drooling. *wipes chin* Shh, you didn’t see that.

It’s tough to relocate back home to Hawaii after having tasted Mexican food from Southern California and Mexico… I still dream of the day that I can find some solid Mexican food here in Hawaii unfortunately… I ordered the carne asada burrito, and what was called«carne asada» did not agree with my previous concept of carne asada which is supposed to be juicy steak. Instead it was dry, tough and salty — kind of like beef jerky. At least they had a spinach tortilla… and at least it was fast… The service was okay, the interior was alternative/laid back, and not very clean… But hey, what kind of Mexican food can you expect to get for less than $ 7 here in Hawaii?

Pretty good burritos although size of burrito varies by person preparing it. Sometimes too drippy but most times just right. Sometimes a bit dry, sometimes perfect. Love, Love, Love the enormous selection of hot sauces although the only sauces hot enough for me are in the little wooden box attached to wall– sauces hot enough to make you smack your mama! Fun things: Horchata, my favorite Odwalla green machine juice, locally made sherbets. Good special on Tuesdays — potato burrito with drink. Lots of students with dorm atmosphere.

Okay. I like the workers. They’re awesome. I like the choice of tortilla wraps. I tried the red tomato one. I like the filling choices. HELLYES I CHOOSE potatoes & melted cheese(duh). Those potatoes are delicious. I haven’t been able to find anyone that makes potatoes like this.(Pretty much home fries status.) anyways. you really shouldn’t give people that many options. I’m so use to the taco trucks back in SF where you get your meat, your beans, the guac/sourcream, hot or mild and how big of a freaking burrito do you want? Here. so many choices. Thanks for letting me personalize my burrito. 1 star because prices are pretty ridiculous. But I am in Hawaii and how many burrito joints are out here? Now I want a burrito :(

This place is pretty good, I’ve ordered the burritos, quesadillas(they take a little longer), and potato burrito(my favorite). They have a good selection of tortilla shells and meat. It might not be authentic mexican, but the food is very good and keeps me satisfied. On Tuesdays they have a $ 2 taco deal, so you can use that opportunity to try out different favors. They also have a huge selection of hot sauces, so you don’t have to worry about just using bland tobasco sauce. Also they have small contains of ice cream and horchata. You have to try the horchata. Overall, I like coming to this place and it always satisfies me.

The Burritos are really good. Outstanding special Hot Sauce. BC Burritos delivers some good cheap food. I’m coming back for more. Even better, I have an idea that I’m working on. My burrito was a solid 4 stars. The special hot sauce turned this into a 5 Star day to remember! Data: 12″ Wheat tortilla, grilled veggies with no cheese, Spanish rice, Whole Black Beans, Regular salsa but«Spicy» hot sauce and Guacamole. Extra Special hot sauce from a squeeze bottle. Sauce: There were lots of sauces to choose from that were in labeled bottles. Then there was a large squeeze bottle of red sauce that was not labeled. Spicy and flavorful! Hot with full red chili flavor, it made my lips tingle. Not sure what it was. But, I was very happy. Turned a good monster burrito into an extra special experience.( ) The vibe: This is «college campus hole in the wall» décor. It is what it is. I think they got their furniture from the same Tijuana dive bar that Maria Bonita’s did. See my review of Maria Bonita in Kaneohe.( ) Anyway, here is my idea. It would be really nice if BC opened a little shop over here in the 96744. If that doesn’t happen… I may just need to have a little meeting with the guys at Maria Bonita’s. Perhaps I need to bring them to lunch at BC Burrito to show them what I’m talking about… Now if «Soul» and Café Laufer and Himalayan Kitchen also came over here to Kaneohe… I might never have to drive all the way to Kaimuki ever again. See what I’m saying. Until my master plan materializes I can strongly recommend BC Burrito in Kaimuki. P. S. Very vegetarian and vegan friendly. There is a spicy sautéed tofu selection available but did not try it yet.

There are two reasons why I really like this place: the $ 2 fluffy taco Tuesday special and the friendly staff. I used to come by every Tuesday this past summer when there was a smaller crowd. During the school year there are a lot more college students that come in for a good, cheap meal. The fact that you can bring in your own alcohol is a plus for me too, since I like to go by after work with my friends. There’s a large selection of hot sauces you can try including some less traditional herb based sauces that I really liked and some extremely hot one in the tiny cabinet on the wall. In short, it’s cheap, it’s good, the staff is friendly, and you can bring your own beer!

Okay, I think they’ve earned it. Five. Why? Best burritos in town. I mean, friggin’ good. Walking out of there today, I was so immensely satisfied, I was tempted to high-five my girlfriend. I should have, she’s cool like that. But I think that’s a sign. If they don’t foul up with service, cleanliness or prices, they’ve stepped it up. Prices? They were cheap several years ago. and they still are! Unlike some places. We got two potato burritos(still my super-ultimate-undisputed fave) regular and kids sizes, and a medium drink. Came out to just 12 bucks and some change. Service, was. good! And it has been the past few times I’ve been there. In the past it’s been questionable, however I have not seen the unfriendly or straight up grumpy employees in some time. Maybe they’ve been replace. Whatever the case, the fellows there today were totally friendly. We were greeted as we walked in the door and it was a pleasant experience all the way. Cleanliness is good. Clean tables, clean hot sauce bar, and the food area looked good. Right on. They also had this printout on their fountain drink machine that says«BCBURRITO Presents Our ‘Green’ Burrito» I’ll post the picture. It’s really awesome! Here are the bullet points and shortened, paraphrased descriptions: Buying Local– They do it, and they tell which veggies are locally bought. Packaging– Biodegradable. Gardening– They grow their own peppers. Composting– They compost their veggie waste. Feeding the Hungry– They donate food to feed the hungry in Hawaii, daily. Waste Oil Recycling– They recycle their oil. Bottle and Can Recycling– And cans and bottles. :) That doesn’t do it justice, maybe I should type it out. or you can see the picture I took. Anyway, count me impressed. And full.

I wanted to come to this place after reading fellow Unilocalers gave rave reviews of this place. I hadn’t thought of this place as awesome, but once I stopped in this place in between my Phở journey, I realize this may just be the change of pace I needed. It was kind of interesting, where you can design your own burrito down to the ingredients and the tortilla flavor. Just what the doctor ordered. I have been craving spicy for a long time and the potato burrito seemed to be the best choice among fellow Unilocalers. So I got mine with extra spicy salsa and black beens. The filling choices would be Beef Carnitas with extra shrimp. I live really near by so, parking is not really a problem. If you do drive, there is a parking lot in the back, that feeds into the Kaimuki business area, next to Hale Vietnam area. I didn’t know about the BYOB, but then again, I brought mine home and had it for dinner one night and didn’t think about dining in. Good thinking though. I might come back, since the burrito itself is a meal in itself — and then some. If you love spicy and mexican, this is the place for you. Although this place is basically burrito haven, you might want to go to a authentic mexican place or Taco Bell if your Mexican palate needs more venue and variety. Prices are good for the amount of food you are getting. A+

ORDERING I was walked through the«how to order» process by one of the awesome BC Burrito workers, so I’ll share.(It isn’t too complicated, but there’s a lot of steps!) 1 — What size?(kids-10″, regular-10″, super-12″, gutbuster-2−12″ overlapping). The super is perfect for me. 2 — Pick a tortilla flavor. Choose from: flour, wheat, tomato chile(red), jalapeño cheddar(yellow/orange), spinach(green). 3 — Choose yer beans: black or pinto 4 — Filling. Filling choices include Chicken Mole(chicken in red sauce), Carnitas, Chile Verde(pork in green sauce), Beef Carne Asada, Shrimp, and more. 5 — Salsa. Hot for me please! 6 — Extras. I like to add sour cream & guacamole. 7 — Pay & enjoy! SUPERBURRITO 12″ tortilla filled with melted cheese, black or pinto beans, spanish rice, your choice of salsa(mild, medium, hot), and a ton of filling for $ 7.29. That’s why with added sour cream and guacamole, this burrito is my fave. HOTSAUCESGALORE Check out the«hot sauce pyramid» for some added spice! I LOVEBC’s variety; they’ve got a nice assortment of mild, medium, hot, and flaming hot sauces. Here are some of my more favorite sauces they carry: Bull Snort Fire in the Hole Habanero Hot Sauce — I love the heat and the tang. Dave’s Insanity — Yes, the infamous Dave’s Insanity Hot Sauce. If you love«hot,» you gotta try it. Tabasco(of course) — A vinegary favorite. Hula Girl Chipotle Habanero — Nice and smokey flavor. Trappey’s Red Devil Cayenne Pepper Sauce — To me, there’s no spice at all, but I LOVE the tang.(This sauce is very good on Mac Salad, especially Rainbow’s Mac.) *BC Burrito also sells certain hot sauces for $ 6(even Dave’s Insanity Sauce). IMPORTANTDEETS –BC Burrito is located on Waialae Ave. near Azteca and Salt. –They are open 7 days a weeks!(YES!!) 8am-8pm, or something like that. –Parking is located in the nearby pay-lot, as well as on the street(if you’re lucky). –They also do catering. –Don’t forget: BYOB! I want to give them a 3.5 stars. Their burritos are pretty good. I like that you can choose what kind of beans, meat, and salsa. I usually get the carne asada as my choice of meat. The chicken mole wasn’t spicy and lacked flavor. Their burritos can be huge, so I if I’m there for lunch and don’t want to go back to work in a food coma, I share it with a co-worker. Their breakfast burritos are also large, and is a good deal in my opinion. My favorite deal from BC Burrito is $ 2 Puffy Taco Tuesdays! It’s a small tortilla that is deep fried and filled with your favorite ingredients, like the burrito. For $ 2 it is quite satisfying, but I always add sour cream! If I’m really hungry I get 2. The staff has always been friendly to me so that is the plus .5 star. I also love sampling different hot sauces for my taco or burrito! Gotta love the burn!

Let me tell you how excited I was to find this place shortly after moving to Oahu from Fort Collins, CO. Not that I don’t love trying new places(because I certainly do!), but I loved Big City Burrito back in Fort Collins, and I had high hopes for this one! My hubby and I were quite frequent customers of the one in Fort Collins. I was excited to hear that this BC Burrito was started up due to the original in Fort Collins! Living in Kapolei it is a bit of a drive for me to be quite as frequent of a customer to this one though(hint hint). I will say though — It was worth the drive and we were not disappointed. I LOVE the potato burrito! Just perfect! Honestly one of the best Mexican places so far on the island(to be fair, we have not really been to that many).

One of the best burritos on the island. Located on Waialae, parking isn’t bad — as long as you don’t mind paying a meter. Even so, it’s worth it. Small, casual place with a decent sized menu and large selection of hot sauces. Two things to try: 1. the Quesadia. So good and not what you’re expecting. 2. anything with the carne asada. No joke, it’s amazing:)

BC Burrito is like the burrito version of Subway. You choose what you want from the menu and then they make it according to your preferences and wrap it up to go! -(My) Kid’s Burrito: A 10-inch tortilla wheat tortilla with chicken mole filling, spanish rice, black beans, and medium jalapeño salsa You get to choose pretty much everything including the tortilla, filling, beans, salsa, and anything else for an extra charge. The kid’s burrito is actually filling enough to be more than 1 meal, but I always find a way to finish it all :) Plus, it’s super cheap at $ 3.99 with no extras. I get the chicken with the red sauce and a medium salsa because it has enough heat to be hot, but is still edible for my taste buds. Overall, it’s an extremely cheap meal with flavor and heat! However, one star was lost because they always seem to be trying to get extra $$ out of you by asking if you want cheese, guacamole, or sour cream as if it won’t cost extra in addition to the burrito.

I have been a fan of BC Burrito since he opened a few years back. This is the best burrito place in town. I’m definitely spoiled after living in Cali for a few years and being near great taquerias. Their chicken mole is great. They have a nice selection of tortillas. I recommend the black beans instead of the refried beans and try the corn salsa. Once you have your burrito, they have a wide range of sauces. But, go really easy on anything that has habaneros in it. And, definitely avoid the sauce in the special case unless you LOVE super spicy hot food. Also, come back sometime for a breakfast burrito.
