Applied Movement Center

My mom and I have both been training with Brad for over a year now at various gyms, and my mom goes to Karen for weekly yoga. I now train here at AMC, and I like it much better than training at a gym. I definitely get more time for the money, and Brad’s equipment is all top-​notch, so he can customize a fun and unique workout for you without you having to use equipment or mats soaked with other people’s sweat. As always, I enjoy my sessions, which focus on functional movement, and I feel that they are helping me stay in shape and happy with my body. Workouts are also therapy sessions for me! If you are looking for a trainer, I would definitely recommend Brad.

I’ve been training with Brad at Applied Movement for two years this month. I have had several trainers throughout my lifetime but have never stuck with the same trainer for this length of time. There are so many things about Brad’s perspective on training that resonate for me, including his knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and kinetics. He does everything possible to ensure injury avoidance while listening to what it is that I want to achieve. The emphasis in our training is on sustainability and function for the long haul.
So often, people are looking for quick results when they hire a trainer. I know because I’ve done that before. But what Brad has taught me is that persistence and progression is really the way to go. Two years ago, I couldn’t run because my knee would swell up like a balloon. Since I began training with Brad, I’ve completed two Great Aloha Runs, numerous 5K’s, and my muscle development and self-​confidence have really grown. I haven’t worn a knee brace in about 1 ½ years and I attribute that to slow and steady training. I would recommend Brad to anyone looking for a highly educated, informed trainer. Workouts are fun, varied, and challenging and I can’t imagine not working with him.

I’ve been working out with Brad, one of the owners of AMC, for a few years. His training methods and philosophy have taught me a lot during this time. I appreciate the fact that Brad not only talks about fitness, but practices what he preaches. He is also knowledgable in physiology, anatomy, and bio-​mechanics. AMC is not your standard weightlifting/​bodybuilding gym. It is a workout center that focuses on real world strength, fitness and flexibility. Brad is an excellent trainer who focuses on challenging your abilities and limits, while addressing your weaknesses and deficiencies in a productive manner. I would highly recommend Brad for anyone looking for functional or competitive sport fitness training.

At a random BBQ, I met Brad and Karen — the founders of applied movement. They were telling me about their recent new business venture and I was quickly in awe on how they were living their dream. With their passion for teaching others coupled with their love for fitness and coaching, they make the ideal trainers. I told them I would check out their studio when they add a zumba class and voila! They did!
Today was my first day of Zumba and I definitely burned off my Thanksgiving dinners and leftovers! The instructor, Suse, is Brazilian, recently certified in CA as a Zumba instructor, friendly, and did I say Brazilian! Damn, that woman definitely makes you shake your bootie! I typically don’t sweat buckets but after a Zumba class, there’s no stopping. Warning — stretch before you come because warm-​up and cool down is only thru one song. Her workout may be considered intense. So you pretty much are in high speed for an hour. If you forgot water, don’t worry, they have a fountain. What I love about this class is that it’s done in an intimate setting so no huge crowds.
So if you have been wanting to try Zumba or don’t want to deal with large class sizes, come check out Applied Movement, located in town (by Walmart). Zumba classes are offered Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Free parking during the evenings and weekends. For newcomers, your first week is FREE!
