A big reason as to why I decided to try Angell’s for my alterations is because she has the cutest dog in her store everyday! Taking in a pair of pants would ensure my getting to know her furry pal… Angell is very sweet! As soon as I walk in she’s ready to hem my clothes and have me on my way. Turn-around is super fast — 3 – 4 days in most occasions — and her prices are cheap! $ 7.80 per basic pant hem… can’t beat it!

I used to visit Sears in Ala Moana Center for all of my alteration needs, but since that Sears is now literally a pile of rubble, I needed to find another place. My coworker mentioned Angell’s Store to me and said it was right in Downtown, fast, and reasonably priced with great results. Seriously… how could I go wrong?! On a Thursday, I took a pair of slacks and a pair of jeans to get hemmed and picked my finished items the following Tuesday. Awesome! She charged me $ 7.50 for each item, which included cutting the jeans and finishing the edges. Such a deal! I am definitely going back to Angell’s!

I brought a pair of slacks here to be dry cleaned. For $ 5.25 I got them back looking great. I plan on bringing more of my dry clean-only clothing here. From looking at the tailoring comments, I will probably bring my nicer slacks here to be altered as I continue to lose weight :-)

Angell’s has moved a few steps from Bethel Street to 41 S. Hotel, at the corner of Bethel and Hotel. I use Angell’s for tailoring, mostly hemming and taking in seams to get the perfect fit. You’ll find Angell’s quick and affordable. The store is filled to the gills with clothing, and at first glance you may not realize she offers alterations, but it’s a large part of her business. You’ll need to squeeze thru the racks to get to the counter or dressing room, where Angell will work with you to figure out how to alter your clothing. You pay in advance and pick up a few days later, unless you have a rush job. Angell tends to trim seams quite closely. So my one suggestion is to ask her to leave a little material if you think you might have second thoughts about the length or fit or think picking up a few pounds would matter. A nice find if you live or work Downtown, or visit on the weekends to get your fill of Chinatown eats.
