For the last 8 years I’ve been on the routinely Arnold Schwarzenegger strength training and the same cardio sessions here and there, and there is nothing wrong with this. So I decided to check out a few free sessions from other Crossfit gyms. In the end, Aloha Barbell has changed the game for me… dramatically. Although it seems like a long drive from Hawaii Kai, this gives me time to listen to my workout playlist and get into my zone. Because of my school and work schedule, I have the choice to attend the 1 of the evening sessions that begin at 430p, 530p, or 630p. Coach Erik begins routine with a warm-up, then focus on some strength training(especially form for newbies like me), and finally hit it hard with the Workout of the Day(WOD). Although it seems busy and fast pace with others that are training, Erik does look at each individual and gives feedback in their performance. Always providing a few tweaks to have you practice each exercise the right way. You can tell that most of the team here have been doing Crossfit for a while and most are beasts! But don’t let them intimidate you because, since day 1, they have been a welcoming team and this box shows a lot of encouragement and passion for the sport. Besides like most people that just want to get fit, the only competition you have is with yourself. Almost every WOD has shown me some areas I excel, but as well as where I am weak. I know when I’m heaving, drenching in sweat, and feel like quitting in the middle of the WOD, it is exactly where I need to improve my fitness level. This is what I needed, to change the pace in my workout régime. Because of Erik and the team at Aloha Barbell, every session I can always take away something to keep under my belt. This is the perfect place to learn for noobs, or for experienced crossfitters to come execute a couple of WODs and even practice on their own. I am glad to be part of the team and can’t wait till the next session! Ammenities — Parking — Restroom — Refreshments — Chalk — Breezy Hawaiian A/C — Numerous workout equipment — Throw up bucket

I love this place! I’m new to crossfit, but all the members are so supportive and awesome… not to mention INSPIRING. The comraderie here is felt the moment you walk in… nothing but positive vibes. The coaches are all great and very focused on correct technique, as well as exceeding your personal goals throughout each workout. Worth it all!
