History

Established in 2000.

John Baraquio has been working in the pest control industry since the early 1980’s with his parent’s business.

In 1996, he got his license and certification and helped his parents grow their company. In 2000, he branched off and started Able Pest Exterminators, Inc, now known as Able Pest Management LLC.

His passion for the industry and desire to help people and contribute to the community is what makes his business so successful.

John Baraquio is the fourth of 10 children. Born and raised in Hawaii, he knows, understands and loves the local culture. He graduated from Maryknoll High School and went on to get his Bachelors Degree in Communications at The University of Portland, OR.

He moved back after graduation and now lives with his beautiful wife, 2 children and 2 dogs.

John is strong in his faith and values and strives for excellence every day.

I think we have been a customer of Able Pest since the beginning (not the waaaay back beginning though) and have had them service both or our houses here in Kailua. Able always has a friendly and courteous staff. Whenever I have a concern or question, John never hesitates to give me a call. Our service technician, Jay, is knowledgeable, thorough and very friendly (although he hasn’t gotten used to our overly friendly dog, Kia). He is always there to answer my questions, arrange a time when he can come service inside the house, and gives me tips to keep those pesky rats away from my lanai. I can not recommend Able Pest enough!!! Fabulous!

Was contacted by this company through Home Advisors. They quoted some prices to me for spot treatment. After further consideration, I decided on a TIR. Initially I had some communication problems with the office and later found out that the inspector was on the mainland. Up to this point not going smoothly. The inspector called me this morning from the mainland and told me what day and time he could do the job. He also quoted a competitive price for the job so things are looking better at this point. Met with John the inspector at the unit. He arrived on time. He was cordial and professional. He was very thorough and explained every step to me. He quickly located the problem and will get the TIR to me shortly. I would recommend this company. Started off a little bumpy but it has been smooth sailing after that. Mahalo.

Able Pest Management is one of the best home services that you can invest in! The peace of mind that it brings is something that money can’t buy, but great service can bring that, both with their products and awesome care that they show. Jay took care of us in our condo that we lived in before and now in the house that we recently moved to. I rarely ever see anything alive and if I do, they’re not long for this world so there is no panic or mad rush to find something to kill it with. They take care of cockroaches, centipedes and ants, which are the 3 pests that I’ve grown up having to deal with and no longer have to (I know they take care of everything else, too). Thank you so much! We’re here to stay in Hawaii, which means they’ll have us as a life-​long client!

These guys are awesome. They are all very friendly and professional. They explain what they are doing and you can’t beat their 30 day warranty! When they do the pest control for my home, they always ask where my trouble spots are so they can pay extra attention there and they take care to ask if I have any questions so that I am comfortable that I’ll be taken care of. They may not be the biggest name out there but that’s kind of what I like too. That family feeling.

Good local company. Will call you and set up appointments efficienctly when you have quartely services set up. Only downfall is you have to walk around with the exterminator to make sure they get everything done correctly.

Fast service but I had a hard time getting a receipt which I needed for moving out. They gave me one for flea and tick control when I specifically asked for pest control. They gave me a hard time about getting the receipt changed to reflect pest control. I did eventually get a corrected receipt but only after begging. Already have the stress of moving on top of that had to beg for a correct receipt. They told me have my landlord contact them. Disappointing.

We had them come over to treat our condo for roaches, which we were seeing nightly.
They came and sprayed our unit (we thought he had done a good job to get everywhere) and advised that we may still see them for a couple of weeks as they will come out to eat and die. He said that we don’t have an infection, but thy are coming from other units in the building. After almost a month, we were still seeing them come out night and day and very well alive.
We called and they came a second time. This time he checked and confirmed no nesting, just coming. He put a roach trap (which he said is more powerful then the supermarket variety). After 2 more weeks, we are still seeing roaches living very happily it would seem.
We had treated our space when we first moved in from another exterminator and never had any problems for a year and a half. We are very clean people and keep our space as such. We cannot recommend their service.

This company was everything the reviews said they were. I had a flea infestation problem to the point where I couldn’t even go out on my balcony without ten fleas jumping on my legs in a minute’s time. After reading the reviews of this company and another company on Unilocal,I called the other company upon the recommendation of a friend. The other company shall remain nameless, but I will say their company name began with an «A». I left two messages, stating the urgency of the matter with company A. Up until today, I have never gotten a return call from them.
I then called Able Pest Exterminators and was put through to John, the owner of the company. After hearing my story, he told me Justin would be calling me with the possibility of him coming out the very same day if he could. Well, Justin did call, but it was late in the day, so he promised to come the next day at 8:30 or 9:00 in the morning. When I requested he come at an earlier time, without hesitation, he agreed to do so. Justin was not only early, he was pleasant, efficient and did his work quickly. I plan to recommend this company to all of my friends; not only do they give good service, but they also have «heart.»

Absolutely love them! They always call me up before my quarterly check to schedule my appointment and i never have to worry about ANY bugs in my house! They also use stuff that is pet and kid friendly — only harsh to bugs! I also love that they move a little bit of stuff against the walls to get as much base boards as they can. I always look forward to them coming!

I just had them in my home today, Brandon was very helpful and educated us on the entire process, he was on time and they are very affordable. I have little kids and indoor pets so I was grateful that this was not going to affect them.

This locally owned and operated business is great as they know the needs of kamaaina and our pesky pest problems. Because when you need to get rid of roaches and critters, you need them gone YESTERDAY. Having rentals, time is money and this factor alone is why my family chose and still uses Able.
We first called on them in Dec 2009 and not only were they the most affordable (called 2 other local companies and 1 national and Able was $ 100 cheaper than all of them), but they were also the most available. They came the day after we called for pricing, versus having to wait 3 days or even a week for the others to get the initial treatment.
Whats nice is that they stand behind their work with a generous 30 warranty. If after 10 days of initial treatment you see critters, give them a call and they’ll retreat with no charge.
But mainly too, the staff is super professional. They are quick to return calls and take the time to explain and cater to your specific needs. And the technicians go above and beyond just regular service. One came to treat only 1 unit, but a tenant asked the tech to come and spot treat hers as critters were reappearing (Able also treated that unit) and the guy did it with no charge, even though it was 4 months out of the warranty date. Nice! So to recap:
Pros:
–Very affordable and competitve pricing
–Local company that knows how to address local needs
–Professional, attentive and excellent customer service with office and field staff
Cons:
–Although they make every effort to address your needs as quickly as possible, they are busy. So I’d have to say scheduling. In «emergency» situations or initial treatments they take you right away. If it’s a respray or upkeep spraying/​treatment, you’re scheduled after the more urgent ones.
