We used to LOVELOVELOVE this place. Then they changed hands or management. Menu is different, food is no longer the same, but the prices sure are. My $ 32 filet was very chewy and my daughters game hen was so salty it was inedible. When I told our server, that was as far as it went. I paid my bill, full prices and will never go back. Such a shame, it was a wonderful find a few years ago.

I felt a little underdressed for Do Di Yo’s in a tshirt but no one seemed to mind. My hostess brought me to a comfortable table and my waiter took my drink order. I opted for the lamb kebob with rice and brussels sprouts. What arrived was a tasty platter or delicious looking and tasting dinner. A reasonable portion of lamb with a big portion of rice and grilled veggies. I cleared it and enjoyed every bite. Solo guitarist playing in the bar area was a nice touch. Parking here is a challenge, but if you can find the entrance to the parking deck, you’ll find much more opportunity. Just remember where you left your car!

Great food, good variety of choice, and service was exceptional. We have dined at this restaurant many times since its opening, and never been disappointed.

Between the gyros and the hummus, there’s a lot of food here to send you to the bathroom pretty quick, and clearly the owners know it. They took a spare no expense approach and loaded the bathroom with anything you thought you needed, and even things you didn’t. I’m impressed by the design, the mirrors, high quality faucets, and comfortable seating, but the thing that got my attention the most: the mouthwash dispenser. Call it a trivial novelty all you want, but clearly the owners know what happens when you eat meat that’s been marinating alongside onions all day long. I’ve long been a fan of their innovative approach to food, and am now a fan to their rethinking of what a public restroom has to offer.

I wish I could give this place more stars, but the service wasn’t very good or friendly… ANDITWAS A MANAGERWAITINGONUS. (Tall, bald, blue shirt sleeve shirt) It was four of us. 2 adults and 2 kids. The kids food looked great(chicken kabob and fried shrimp) The shrimp for the kids meal looked huge! My boyfriend and I split the Moussaka. Delicious! Live music was great. The atmosphere is elegant and modern. I agree with a previous review that it’s mostly Italian food and little Greek from the looks of the menu. The owners(I think they were the owners) walk around and check on you :) Now the service, it took forever to be greeted once we were sat. 10 minutes! I had to get the host to find our server. We were greeted nicely and he left for a while again. I had to walk to the host stand to get a kids menu. Then he came back right after so I rushed to order the kids their food before he vanished again. He was MIA most of the night. Barely checked on us. Had to ask the waiter who dropped off our food for table bread and oil. When the Moussaka came out, we asked for more bread and beer… Other than the initial polite greeting, he responded with short answers, pierced lips, and irritated body language. It was unpleasant to say the least. And get this… HEWASTHEMANAGERONDUTY! There was a young man who had the section next to us, Grahm(spelling?) who brought our food, asked if we needed refills at the end(since we had empty glasses for a while) and was so nice. We will ask for him next time. All in all, the food and music were GREAT!!!

I would not recommend coming here for brunch. Everything we got in the buffet was cold. The powdered eggs were warm but I guess you would have to like fake, powdered eggs. I felt like I was back in college eating at the dorm cafeteria. I’ve been here for dinner and enjoyed it. Never coming back for brunch.

Fill up on the bread and cheese dip. Avoid entrees. They tend to be overpriced and overseasoned. Wine selection is almost non existent. Service is slow.

Fantastic. The salads were fresh and the seafood symphony — seafood and pasta — was the best I’ve had. Grouper was excellent as was the rest of our meal. I will definately come back here.

I’ve been here a couple times on business dinners… portions are always large and very flavorful. I’ve had their greek salad and hummus starters, and their fish and pasta entrees… all are very tasty. I have not been as big of a fan of their baklava desserts– I probably would prefer a simple lemon sorbet instead. DoDiYo’s has a massive sized bar in the middle of the restaurant, and some little alcoves for mid-size parties. Since I was here for business functions, we were put at long tables in the middle of the room, and once in a strange little room where we had to sit at small individual tables(which I didn’t like since we weren’t able to mingle). Service is usually prompt and efficient… I don’t remember having to wait to long, and since there was a prix fixe menu(that the restaurant was very accommodating to work with us on), it made ordering very easy.

This place looks like you would need to pay a lot more for your meal. It’s stylish inside and the food is above average. I had a brisket in a well-seasoned gravy with lemon potatoes. Other dishes looked good. Our server explained the dishes well. But the wait was very long for a lunch. I won’t be back there most likely unless I can spend a complete hour.

This is a very nice looking restaurant. It’s big and modern, with a large bar and a lot of seating. It seems like a good place for a special occasion, as the space allows you breathing room to relax and hear the folks around you. Our server was a funny little pothead looking guy. He was very polite, to almost an amusing degree. He wasn’t pushy but was willing to share which items seemed to be the most popular, and he was very encouraging when we ordered. We started with fried lobster bites, which were heavenly. They didn’t need the honey mustard that came with them(which is, in my mind, a strange choice for lobster — maybe just some melted butter would be better?). They were light and flaky, perfectly juicy on the inside. A five star appetizer for sure. I decided to have the veal piccata, and while it was fine, it wasn’t the best I’ve had. While some bites were great, the majority were lacking in flavor. Everything, from the presentation to the texture to the taste, was subpar. It wasn’t bad, but it was thoroughly mediocre, which was disappointing after the great lobster bites. One thing that kind of bugs me, too, is that the restaurant presents as a Greek place, but a lot of the food is Italian. I realize that these countries are both Mediterranean and near each other, but I was expecting more of a Greek twist on things, and there wasn’t one. Sure, you could(validly) say I should have ordered something Greeker, and if I do find myself here again, I probably would. In fact, I would like to come back and try something else. For a place that looks and acts so put together, I’m willing to give it another shot to really impress me.

I ate about 4:30pm. Not busy, maybe one other table then me. I got the lamb gyros, Very good the meat is seasoned perfectly. I sat at the bar but they were so busy prepping they did not make much notice of me. Over all good experience and will come back again.

Oh my goodness, I think I could swim in the orzo chicken soup. It was supreme. Our server was oh so sweet and we had a lovely experience. The brisket was delicious as were the shrimp kabobs. I’ve been a couple times before. Food is always good!

I have to upgrade Do Di Yo’s at least one star from my previous review. I’ve had the lamb kabobs during my last visit and they were spectacular. As always though, the service was not that great. We’ve had 3 people come around asking if they can take our plates away before we were finished. We had to say 3 times that we are still working. Very disorganized it seems. For Birmingham, I think this is a good date spot. It’s rather trendy and nice, at the same time, not too formal or pretentious. It tries to be like some of the places of the caliber in bigger cities, but struggles.

If anything, my opinion on Do Di Yos has soured. I went there for a business dinner the other night. The baked oysters were awful. The gyro was blah. The meat inside of the gyro was rubbery and tasteless. I’m just baffled at why people in Birmingham like this place. Trust me. I love Mediterranean, whether it’s Greek, Lebanese, or whatever else. Yet I have eaten at Do Di Yos a dozen times over the past few years and have never left the place saying, «That was a good meal.»

It doesn’t feel authentically Mediterranean but it was delicious. The Eggplant with Basil and Tomatoes is the sauciest vegetable dish with the most delightful soggy, flavorful vegetables. The ratatouille side even had more flavor than the main course. The Lamb Souvlaki Tsepi is grilled lamb marinated in spices and lemon juice and all wrapped in a warm pita with lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, parsley and tzatziki sauce. Basically it’s good. The fries are good too. Dress up a little when you come to this restaurant because it’s really nice. You don’t need to go all out but it’s not friendly to gym clothes.

Great restaurant conveniently located in the Homewood area. The restaurant sits in proximity to several other good restaurants you might try. I usually have lunch here when in town so decided to give dinner a try. I started with the chicken orzo soup, which had a zesty, lemony flavor. Oysters on the half shell were a great happy hour special. They were medium in size with mild salinity to the taste. Rib eye was cooked at perfect medium. The place was decorated kind of eclectic with a Greek influence to it. Service staff was friendly and prompt. Really enjoyed my experience here and will be back.

Ate here for lunch. It was good. I had the burger. It was huge and very tasty. The fries were not good. I’ll get a different side next time. My friend got the mimosa pasta special — she liked it a lot.
