Venetian Aveda Salon & Spa

This place is beyond horrible! I only gave it 1 star because I didn’t have the option of giving it zero! My friend and I went to get our nails done. I got a full set, the acrylic wasn’t filed, my cuticles were not touched, I asked for a white tip n a design on the ring fingers… she rushed thru it n it was lumpy, uneven… an absolute mess.
My friend who is getting married in 2 days got a pedicure and the guy who did her nails was new (why in the hell would they give the new guy someone who needs their nails to be flawless) it took him over an hour to do the pedicure which he needed help 5 times, then she got a manicure she just wanted a French tip, she asked if he could square them off, they were rounded in some places, square in others, sharp edgy looking. He put cuticle oil in a plastic bag n stuck her hands in heating pads which gave her chemical burns. Before he could even paint them she left crying.
We then had to go to another place to get them fixed. I had to get mine repainted, and she got hers manicured the right way. And when I went in to complain I only got back the money for her manicure, they wouldn’t refund my money that I spent on my acrylics. This place is an absolute joke… I hope they get shut down or hire people who kno wat they are doing.

If I could give less than one star, I would. I went to get a refill here and there were only three other customers there. That still made no difference in my friends and I waiting about 45 minutes before someone decided to start on us. The woman LENA (pronounced LEENUH so you know to NEVER get her if you do decide to come) started my friend, finished her quickly and sloppily and told her to sit somewhere else so she could start me. Exactly like that. No please. No manners whatsoever. Then she looked at me and pointed to the chair. Not only was her attitude terrible but she actually spoke to me so rudely I’ve never been in any nail salon where some one talked to me so unprofessionally. I asked her to do a nail over again because it was messed up and she just put another coat on top of the messed up part, which definitely did not fix it. She also got upset and said «oh my God» and started angrily talking to another worker in another language and he told me he’d finish my nail. If I was not an adult Christian woman, she would have taken me completely out of my character. SHE messed up MY nails and was upset when I asked her to fix it.

DO NOT GO HERE! This is a horrible horrible place with awful customer service and poor technical expertise, specifically a technician named Vikki. I came in for a gel manicure and regular pedicure which resulted in my gel nail getting chipped and toe nail polish getting smeared and flaky skin on my soles. Vikki lacks the technical expertise to do a predicure and does not know how to use a pumice stone to scrub, which is a standard procedure in a pedicure treatment. When I came home from the appointment, I called the Venetian right away and asked for a refund, to which the manager reassured me that I can come back any time and they would fix the problems for me. When I came back and showed the evidence of the low quality work, the manager again said let us fix it. I was okay with that, since they said they’d fix it, otherwise, I’d want a refund. Before I could sit down for a fixing of the awful pedicure job, I was told that I need to pay more for that service! I could not believe the insolence from the salon management and personnel I was experiencing in that moment. Instead of mitigating the situation and repairing the bad work, the salon was completely out of line yelling at me and accusing me of the whole thing being my fault. The management is awful and has zero understanding of how a service-​based business establishment needs to operate. I’ve experienced horrible disrespect from the management of the Venetian who was yelling at me and refusing to fix their shoddy work! In addition to the Venetian’s despicable treatment of customers, it is also doing a huge disservice to the Aveda brand!!! This place doesn’t even deserve the 1 star…

I wish I could take away stars! My friends nails were done terrible! And after paying, taking the polish off and having someone else refile them– They wanted to charge her to paint them! For the same paint she Just paid for! And the manager said «Oh, Well!!»
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND TERRIBLE WORK!

First, the massage chairs my sister and I sat in were both broken! My actual massage function didn’t work and my sister’s seat wouldn’t hold enough water to soak her entire foot in! We both brought our own nail polish because previous experience their polish is old and chips easily. However, the top coat they used on top of our polish bubbled and pulled away before we even left the salon.
My sister’s pedicure lasted about 25 – 30 minutes while mine lasted about 15 minutes. She did a horrible job cutting, didn’t trim my cuticles or clean under my nails, and didn’t exfoliate my feet at all! I still have all of the dry skin I had before I spent $ 25. Very disappointing, I want to support local neighborhood businesses but I will never return.
I wanted to complain but she had already cut my nails so short I didn’t see how they could remedy the problem. Don’t waste your money!

My mom and I enjoyed a relaxing pedicure and manicure. Tina and Paul were patient and very attentive to our every need. This is definitely our new place to spend «girl» time together!

I have been gel nails for a couple months and love them. Came here for the first time because my friend and I wanted to do some shopping after. However, the quality is awful. The nail tech was very nice however he was rushing for no reason, it was not busy. He also cut my cuticle and it was bleeding. The color was off from what I chose, not sure if he was being skimpy or he got the wrong one from what I picked. It looks thin and cheap bumpy and rippled. I also have polish suck on one side of my finger from where the neck of the bottle kept hitting me. I know I should have said something about it all, but it really only became so notice after it sunk in when I left. For 35 dollars I’m upset, since the place I normally go to is only 20 dollars and they do multiple colors. I only have 2 stars because it was a clean, nice space and even though the tech did a horrible job, he was nice.

I got a French manicure there today and it was very sloppy. I ended up with clumps of polish on my nails, tons of bubbles and uneven edges. The woman barely paid attention to me, speaking the entire time in Vietnamese with the rest of the staff. They we all laughing and joking, all 5 of them, while I was sitting there not understanding a thing. Some brought in food and ate right there. The technician also made me get up in the middle of the manicure, walk through the whole place and wash my hands, I actually did not feel that my belongings were safe to leave behind while I did that. Will never be back, for $ 25 + tip that she asked me to give her ahead of time in cash (no receipt by the way), it’s just a ripoff.

Had fabulous deluxe pedicures here with my mom today. A glass of wine, an amazing massage, hot towels, dry skin removal, the full treatment. Recommend!

This was the worst manicure I’ve ever experienced. The lady doing my nails was talking constantly the entire time, not paying attention, and when she was clipping my cuticles she took a chunk of my flesh out and it started bleeding quite a bit. She didn’t apologize, she just went on chatting. When she went to do my nails she said, «ohh this one is bleeding» and painted my blood into my nail polish. When I pointed out that there were red streaks of blood in the polish and asked her to redo that nail, she proceeded to paint another layer of polish over the blood. It hurt so bad, and I still ended up paying. If I had gone in alone, I might have walked out without paying. Huge rip off. Don’t be fooled by the appearance of it. DO NOT GO HERE!

RUDE service, sloppy work, and high prices made for a very, very unhappy one-​time customer (me). Not only did my gels not even last a week, they completely ruined my nails by using the grinder to take off my existing gel polish, even after I asked them not to! Not cool!

Two manicures for $ 36.00. They are awful. Not only did they not take the time to clean up my nails (i.e. shaping, cuticles, etc); they didn’t even remove all of my old polish-it’s still showing through the new polish. And, to top it off, during the entire time we were there, the staff were having an obvious disagreement about one of the technicians’ pay. It was as if we weren’t in the room while the 4 staff yelled back and forth to each other.
I will never return there

Stopped by for a pedicure. Literally, I was in the chair for fifteen minutes and I was done. The «massage» was a joke, not to mention the lady as wearing a ring that scratched me. She left me with zero time to soak my feet, barely rubbed them, and hurried me along. This «pedicure» amounted to nothing more than a polish change and I won’t be back. Oh yeah — when I verbalized my displeasure, all the nail technicians started shouting at each other in a foreign language. Very rude and unprofessional.

Terrible! I had a pedicure, gel manicure and a waxing which totaled just under $ 70. The man I was with was nice, however EVERY other staff member was on their personal cell phones the entire time! Even while doing someone’s nails. Completely unprofessional! Also with my waxing, my actual lip was waxed and now I have a burn/​abrasion on that spot that hurts. I also am breaking all out across my lip line now from whatever wax they use (I have been to many other salons where my face has not reacted this way). And finally, you can’t ever tell if they are talking to you or one of their associates (basically they are just talking on their phones or to eachother the entire time.
Absolutely terrible experience!

I stopped on a whim to get a mani-​pedi. The pedicure was fine, though I thought the polish was hastily applied. Then the mani was terrible. I had to get my shellac removed and she didn’t buff it enough or wait long enough because my nails aren’t smooth. The polish was uneven and had bubbles. I could have done a better job myself. Maybe I’m used to the NYC expectations, but go somewhere else that will take the time to do the polish right and carefully.

I went here for a pedicure. I get pedicures regularly in another state, but I was in this area visiting family.
On a scale of 1 – 10 with 10 being the best, I’d rate Venetian Aveda Salon & Spa an «8» on the actual pedicure itself, which was fine but not outstanding, but a «4» on the actual pedicure experience. Maybe my expectations were too high, or maybe I needed more at that moment than they could give, particularly for $ 25, or maybe it was the aesthetician who did my pedicure, but I was left wanting more.
The pedicure looks ok if you don’t look too closely — my toes are freshly painted; my skin is somewhat smoother — but I was hoping for a little more luxury.
Plus, the back room where the all of the pedicure chairs are located is away from the front windows, so the natural light from outside doesn’t reach there, and as a result, the area has a cold, somewhat dark (and fluorescent-​lit) gloomy environment.
I was looking forward to sitting at the drying station in the front area where the natural light is, but after the pedicure finished, the man who did my pedicure said I should just stay right where I am & let them dry there. I should’ve known something was up when he never placed flip-​flops on my feet prior to the polish. (It’s early March & still cold here so I didn’t walk in wearing flip-​flops but assumed they give you those, like every other nail salon I’ve ever been to, but apparently not.)
I was pulling for this place. I was really hoping it was a quality place, and I wanted to be able to give them a positive review, but the truth is, three stars is the best I can muster.: (
Maybe I’ll go back one more time to give it another chance… or maybe not.

My mother and I made appointments at Venetian Aveda Salon & Spa at the Waterfront today for a late afternoon mani/​pedi. They had a few nail technicians available, so we were able to receive our services at the same time. I had an OPI gel manicure and a pedicure, while my mother had a regular manicure and pedicure. We were both very happy with the way our services were performed… my nails are very short and my feet are a bit beat up from running but they looked great nonetheless. I gave them a ⁴⁄₅ because it was a pretty standard manicure/​pedicure, nothing above or beyond. We were in and out of the salon in about an hour and a half. I would recommend my technician Tina, she was very friendly and personable and did a great job on my nails.

This place used to offer wine with services, but no longer does. I got a pedicure and a fill which is $ 35. The pedicure was fine even tho I asked them to clean the bowl out cuz I had a cut on my ankle and they said no. Then the guy messed up my nail’s acrylic and got a huge attitude when I asked him to fix it. When I was checking out, I was again told the price was $ 35 and shown a receipt for that price, but was charged $ 43. I’ll never go back (except tomorrow to get my money back).

My cousin and the bridesmaids came here the day before the wedding and from a guy’s point of view, the staff were very friendly. I was taking photos for my cousin and although I was in the staff’s way the entire time, they did not mind at all. I don’t know much about manicures and pedicures but it seems like they did a great job.
A week later, a friend of mine was visiting so I decided to treat her to a mani and pedi for her early bday gift. Again the staff was very friendly and they all remembered me! haha. One of the workers there convinced me to get a MANicure so I swallowed my pride and decided to get one while waiting for my friends. Lily worked on me and we sparked up a nice conversation while she did her thing. I have to admit, it was quite relaxing and by the time she was done (she worked extra hard on me lol) my hands and nails looked like a freshly waxed car! daaang
Not sure what the usual rates are for this kind of stuff but mine was $ 17. Ask for Lily… she is great and takes her time

Went here for the first time to get my nails done with a friend last weekend. We didn’t have appointments, and we were able to get walk-​ins right away (in fact, there were no other nail customers in the salon at all). Even though my friend and I obviously came in together, we were seated at tables that were very far apart from each other. I don’t see why we couldn’t sit next to each other and chat, as part of the whole fun of getting nails done is to gab with your friends, but no — I was two whole tables *behind* her, not a chance we could talk.
My nail technician did a nice job, and was quiet but friendly. I think her name was Vi? The only unexpected thing was partway through the manicure, she asked me to get up and wash my hands — to wash off the lotion she’d put on. I thought that was a bit odd — never been asked to get up mid-​manicure before — but it wasn’t a big deal. Though if I was really trying to relax, I’d want to skip that step.
My french manicure turned out very pretty — Vi suggested a very natural base color, less pink than I originally wanted, but I’m really glad I let her change my mind. She also did a very skilled and artful job with the white tips — they are rounded into very pretty crescents.
I can’t remember how much we paid… maybe something in the ballpark of $ 25? (it cost a little more because it was French). I know three stars doesn’t look like a good review, but I think it’s fair. They didn’t do anything above-​and-​beyond, just standard manicure stuff, nice looking nails, the usual price. If the environment was more relaxing or they incorporated more spa elements into the manicure, that could boost the review. But it’s a totally fine place to go to get nails done, I’d be happy to go back anytime I was at the Waterfront — as long as they let me sit by my friend next time!
