Skydive Miami

Huge thanks to the entire team at Skydive Miami for a great experience. I arranged a jump for my birthday and they were more than patient and accommodating from the first email ’til the end of the afternoon. I felt super safe, had a ton of fun and just loved the whole thing. Can’t wait to come back.

I can’t even put into words how amazing this experience was at Skydive Miami. The entire staff was WONDERFUL, so accommodating and PATIENT!!! I went with a group of 4 friends and myself and we all had the time of our lives! If you haven’t jumped off a plane before and are considering, make sure it’s at Skydive Miami!!!

This is my new favorite place to skydive. Fred and all the staff are top notch professionals. My friend and I showed up to do a jump, but it had been a minute since we jumped civilian gear. They took the time to spin us up in a safest manner and for that, we say thank you. We also brought someone who did his first tandem, and he had a great time because he was correctly confident that he was in good hands. Great time had had by all. Thanks Skydive Miami!

A friend and I wanted to try it out and decided to go with Skydive Miami after calling a few places. Sara was very professional through email and on the phone. Rain was in the forecast, so we were worried about not being able to go. Other providers tried to make me pay everything up front with only hopes of a gift certificate if we got rained out. Skydive Miami had a $ 25 deposit, which is all I would lose if I was a no show. With a rain out we would get our deposit back. Thankfully the rain came and went over night and we were able to keep our scheduled drop. We got there early and were actually able to get on early! My tandem buddy was great, my friend’s wasn’t so much. I got to steer, he didn’t. Mine gave clear instruction and was very friendly, my friend’s tandem buddy barely talked. He cussed out a staff member who didn’t have the harness on perfectly perfect… obviously an important thing, but it was excessive. Was a thrill of a life time, and I would go back to this place in a heartbeat. I do wish we could have used our own GoPro to document the event. The prices of having photos or videos taken was not worth it for us.

I was so excited after reading the reviews here but my skydive was cancelled due to weather. On top of that, the tandem «masters» or whatever were a little rude and everyone was just unwelcoming besides the lady behind the counter. We sat around for an hour and a half although we were early for our appointment. They don’t keep track of the appointed times, by the way; they just wing the scheduling. All the workers there kept talking to and flirting with a group of foreign girls, and completely neglected the others. The area is filled with Mosquitos and it’s in the middle of nowhere. I was disappointed in the service, which is what my rating is for, since I didn’t get to jump. Also, if you get pictures and a video, and something goes wrong during the jump and either the pictures or video don’t turn out, you only get a $ 20 refund. And lose the opportunity of a lifetime. Seems a little unfair to me. I’ll try my luck elsewhere and I suggest you do the same.

We split time between the Keys and Northern California. I wanted to try skydiving, but I was not impressed with the opportunities/​companies in the San Francisco Bay Area. I researched Skydive Miami, then I drove over there. Was/​am very impressed with the staff, organization, professionalism, equipment… everything. I did my first jump yesterday. It was great… so great that my 19-​year-​old daughter decided to jump after watching it all, so both of us jumped today. The photos and video are excellent… glad we got them. This is a quality-​run business, and they go out of their way to make you feel very comfortable.

9 of us went for our first ever skydiving experience and we couldn’t have picked a better place. Everyone was super nice, checked and double checked our harnesses, put us at ease with their stories, while waiting we chatted with a bunch of the solo jumpers, when the time came to board the plane we were raring to go. Best experience ever! Just wished it could have lasted longer. I am definitely going back. Great video too, I must have watched mine 30 times since they e-​mailed it to me and it makes me giddy and puts a smile on my face every time.

WOW. The service was amazing, the people were so nice and experienced, the plane was really nice and not bumpy or rickety like others I’ve been skydiving on. Greg was my instructor and Randy was my boyfriend’s. They both were super accommodating and put our nerves at ease. As for the jump, it was so thrilling! The location is perfect; you can see the Keys, the Everglades, downtown Miami, and all of the local produce farms! The cost is high but it is SO worth it to get the highest level of service and not be shuttled around like cattle at the Groupon skydive factory farms (I’ve gone that route too). Plus, if you book a second dive the day of, you can skydive again for $ 119 and your voucher is valid for up to 3 months. When you are trusting a stranger with your life, it’s worth it to go to the best of the best.

The atmosphere is safe and the receptionist Sarah is funny!
My tandem instructor Brett got to know me on the ground and on the way up. He explained what was going to happen in detail. By the time we were at the exit point I trusted him, and this is why I jumped.
It is scary! Still, you can do it! The trust and comfort is here at Skydive Miami.

My weekend hangout for the next 50 or so years… If you’re going to get certified to jump solo, THIS is the place. Incredibly experienced staff and a cool, friendly crew of regulars make me proud to call this place my home DZ.

Amazing experience — extremely friendly staff

I asked a few brave souls (or so I thought) in my circle to take on the adventure with me, I either got a «HELL NAW!!!» a «HELL YEAH!!!» or «Ummmmmm, I’ll let you know» and the infamous ’”I’ve always wanted to do that!!!“
So I called Skydive Miami in Homestead, FL and scheduled my controlled plunge to the earth for 11am. My friend, said she was definitely doing it and she’d call and put down her deposit too (I know I wasn’t the only crazy one)
I went over and picked up my friend and we made the 50 minute drive down to Homestead to check this event off of our bucket list. On the drive down not one mention was made of what we were about to do because now was not the time to back out. We all made our calls to family and friends to let them know what we were about to do and that they would be notified one way or another. We arrived about 11:20 to the plane hanger, we walked in and met the young lady at the counter, She greeted us with a smile and told us we need to look at a disclaimer/​safety/​possibly the last DVD you’ll see video.
After the video we chose our package; Tandem jump from 13,500 feet with photos and HD video (I need the proof). After paying, we chilled for a bit and waited for the instructors to show up.
The bus pulled up and I saw about 12 people pile out, all smiles with parachutes bundled in their arms (this lead me to believe that everyone who jumped, landed safely, this put me at ease… a little) We got sized for our jumpsuits, harnesses, helmet and goggles. We made our way back outside and socialized some more, took a few pictures and met our photographers who conducted a quick interview and took some before pictures, shortly after my instructor comes out and introduces himself as Greg (great guy)
We hear the plane start up, the ladder is placed next to the plane and then we’re asked «Are you ready?» at this point I think it’s impossible to turn back without being judged, we leave our moral support friend with our keys (he’ll need to get home if anything goes wrong) and all our other belongings. We pile into the plane, instructors first, then us, then about 9 other single jumper and then the photographers (Sugar Honey Iced Tea we’re about to do this)
The plane starts down the runway and begins its climb, the plane ride up was an experience all its own. The main door for the plane is clear and slides up, so you have an amazing view.
My instructor tapped me on my shoulder and told me to put on my helmet and goggles, It’s now me, my instructor, my photographer and the pilot.
Greg tells me when we get to the door, that if I’m hesitant, grab the metal bar directly over the door and we won’t go, if I AM ready; cross my arms across my chest, lean my head back and on the count of three fall forward, I nodded in agreement. We make our way to the door, the breeze is about 15 degrees cooler than on the ground, we’re passing through clouds (feels like a light mist every time you do). My photographer is at the door holding on to the overhead bar, the only difference is he’s leaning out the door backwards with a big grin on his face and asks me «How you doing?» (Good thing I had on my big boy draws).
So the photographer counts down… ONE…TWO…(Greg taps me on the shoulders on the counts)…I lean my head back, cross my hands across my chest… THREE…and fell forward…

Went skydiving out of a WHIM!
I guess that’s why they say it’s the best time to do it. My buddies from work told me out of the blue one Saturday morning after a networking event went south… WE ARE GOING SKYDIVING!!! I said OKAY! I’m 33 years old and it was something I’ve always wanted to do.
The folks at Skydive Miami are great and professional. They made the process go smoothly, my tandem dive was with Randy, a professional who’s been skydiving for 20 years and has over 20k jumps! That made me feel good.
I have to say it goes by really quick so enjoy every second of the jump especially the free fall. I did the 13,500 jump, why not… If I didn’t have 2 kids and 1 on the way I will be jumping every month.
One more thing when you land, kiss the ground and thank God your safe. Shake your instructor’s hand and say Thanks!

I might be developing an adrenaline addiction…
Completed my level 2 tandem jump yesterday and it was a vast improvement from my first jump frenzy.
Fred the super cool owner, who has logged over 14,000 jumps, gave us a thorough lesson on the altimeter, proper jumping and turning technique, and we also practiced our freefalling and parachute-​pulling form. Luckily I got to jump again with Carlos (aka C-​Los) who I highly recommend for any first-​timers!
I bought my Level three course and fully intend on completing the day-​long Ground Course and working towards my USPA license! This is a great place if you want to get into the sport of skydiving!

A MUST DO!
Once you have skydived, you can conquer anything. It is a great experience for a celebration, turning a milestone age, or just a bonding experience (either with your fellow jumpers, friends, or the person strapped to your back in a tandem jump).
I went in Sept 2010 and did the highest, tandem jump you can do. It was exhilarating. I would do it in a heartbeat again. The adrenaline rush and self-​pride you have afterward is tremendous.
Very professional place with great master skydivers that make it safe and FUN!

Let me start by saying I’m a pretty big chicken. If I can jump out of a plane, anyone can jump out of a plane.
I requested the earliest appointment in the morning which is 8:30 a.m. I know it sounds extremely early, but trust me it’s better to grab an early appointment. The later your appointment, the more likely you’ll have a wait before you actually jump.
My boyfriend and I watched a quick two minute video about the possible dangers and consequences of jumping, signed several papers acknowledging the risks, etc.; then, we suited up and headed to the small plane.
We each met our tandem buddy; mine was Trevor. Everyone on the plane was extremely friendly which helped calm my nerves. Trevor asked if I wanted to jump and pull the chute myself. I respectfully declined and told him that I had 100% trust in him although I had just met him. I mean, he is the professional, right?
I paid the extra fees so that I could have photos and a video of my skydive experience (definitely worth it). The photographer/​videographer asked me a few questions before and after my jump which was great because he really captured what I was feeling at the moment so I’ll never forget years from now.
You have the option to jump from three different heights. If you’re jumping, why not jump from the highest height (13,500 ft.), right? The actual free fall lasts no more than a minute before its time to pull the rip cord. Then, you float in the beautiful sky for several minutes. The whole experience is indescribable.
I am so glad I went skydiving and wouldn’t be against doing it again some time. If you’re in doubt… I say go for it! You won’t regret it.

It’s a Saturday in August 2008. 7:30 in the morning I’m getting up to go see my crazy sisters jump off a plane.
Everyone who knows me knows I’m terribly afraid of heights so I was definitely not doing this. I was just going as a mere spectator and support system for my sisters if one started feeling doubts.
From Boca to Homestead it’s about an hour drive. All this time the phone kept ringing, it were my sisters, with Excitement and nerves in their voices, asking me to hurry up so I did not miss their jump. Another call «we’re ready, where are you?». So glad I was almost there. Even though I missed one of the jumps, I got to see how excited they were afterwards. I could not just sit there and not do this with them. This was, I think, a once in a lifetime thing, with my sisters — Had to do it. So, without blinking, or thinking, I took out my credit card, signed «my life away», got in the jumper (usually you don’t have to wear this but since I wasn’t planning on doing this I went on a tube top — so jumper it was for me or a free show for all). Didn’t even have time to watch the video, they told me what I really needed to know, and up we went.
We were on the plane for a while because of the wind but definitely worth the wait.
Here’s the tricky part, how to describe what you feel up there. Amazing!!! Can’t really put it into words. While you’re flying up, you’re just looking out the windows, how high up you are, where you’re supposed to land. When they open the plane door it’s when it hits you — «I’m really doing this!». The fall is so liberating/​peaceful/​great experience. And when the parachute opens just enjoy they view and relax — you’re flying!!!
