Barbara is an excellent lactation consultant. She was very thorough in our first meeting and gave me a plan to increase my supply. Due to unforeseen complications I had to stop breast feeding but if I had continued I am confident the plan she gave me would have worked like a charm. If I have another child and need support surrounding lactation I will be back!

Barbara saved my breastfeeding relationship with my newborn. My baby lost over 12% of her weight and I had to start supplementing with formula. I met with Barbara and after lots of hard work– breastfeeding, supplementing, and pumping, baby is exclusively breastfed since 4 weeks. Barbara is encouraging, optimistic, and so so knowledgeable. She gives you her cell number to call her with updates and helps you develop a plan as things change.
I’ve also attended a few of the breastfeeding support group sessions led by Corky and it is wonderful and safe place to breastfeed and share your experiences and ask questions (instead of going crazy googling)

As a second time mom, I’ve utilized The Pump Station on a few different occasions for different reasons; the first was to rent a hospital-​grade pump when I had my son as we had several issues with nursing due to tongue and lip ties (since resolved thank God!!) and the second was for a 2^nd time mom class, which from my understanding is a relatively new offering.
Renting the pump was great; not only were the ladies helpful and friendly but I felt the prices were VERY fair. You can keep the pump for several months and it came in handy when I was struggling to use the one my insurance provided. They explained the contract and made sure it was clean when I picked it up. Definitely 5 stars for this service.
The 2^nd time mom’s group was also excellent and thoroughly enjoyable. My 2 suggestions would be to make it 2 hours instead of 1 ½ hours and consider having new sessions each 8 weeks instead of adding new moms/​babies to the pre-​existing group every 8 weeks. I felt like some moms dominated the conversation and it left little wiggle room for everyone to speak and feel heard. On the note of new moms joining every 8 weeks, it felt like we had gotten to know each other, shared personal information, shed tears, discussed uncomfortable topics etc and then new moms would be there that we didn’t know. Although I loved each of the moms in our group as it grew, I can only imagine from their perspective also that it has to be slightly uncomfortable coming into a group of women who all know each other and are already close. Additionally, you cannot bring anyone else but you and your baby to group– so if you have a relative in town or a friend visiting, they cannot join which to my understanding was to protect those who share personal things etc. So if you can’t have a friend join or a family member come if they are in town or helping out, why have new ladies constantly join after 8 weeks when lots has been put out in the open? Just my two cents…
Our instructor was Susan who I thoroughly liked and enjoyed. You could tell she was really into her job and us moms/​babies. She always sent out topics in advance, asked for feedback constantly and made herself available for questions and conversations before and after group. Even if opinions differed, she always made me feel respected and that is most important!
Overall I definitely love the Pump Station and I’ll be back time and time again if I have more babies. They are a great resource for LA moms and do their best to provide education and support at reasonable prices!

Love this place. All the staff is so helpful and friendly. This review is for The Melody Day Music Class. I love this class. It’s a really educational and entertaining class for my daughter. I see her engaging more and more as the weeks go by. Love the way the class is structured. Each week its a different developmental topic. Paulie makes the class fun and love how he incorporates sign language on each class. We leave the class knowing a lot more ways of communicating and connecting with our babies. Highly recommend this class for all parents who want to dance, sing, learn and bond with your babies!

I recently moved to LA from SF and signed up for CPR, Breast Feeding and Baby Care classes. Give the craziness with the move, I messed up on the date of the CPR class and missed the class. When I called to see if I can reschedule, they told me no and I cannot be refunded my $ 140 either. The lack of understanding was very frustrating. The only reason I am giving 2 stars is that they allowed me to cancel the other classes. Huge bummer.

The Pump Station is THE BEST RESOURCE FOR NEW MOMS. The lactation consultants are incredibly knowledgeable and supportive, the store carries top-​notch products, and the salespeople will help you get what you need. I met with other lactation consultants before coming here, and all I got was generic advice. At the Pump Station, Corky assessed my baby’s mouth and recommended positions and techniques to help me get the deep latch that had eluded me. She gave me tons of valuable, personalized information and support, and I left feeling relieved, supported and encouraged. I also left with some great products that made feeding and pumping for my baby much easier. Their prenatal classes (baby 101, infant CPR, etc.) are also really well run and helpful. Support this local gem so we don’t lose it!

This review is for Barbara, one of the lactation consultants working at the pump station. I’ve seen her about 5 times and she embodies what you want a lactation consultant to be: warm, optimistic, knowledgable and cheer leading for your success. I truly can’t say enough good things about working with her.
The pump station also has a variety of classes and a good selection of retail items to support a new mom.
If you need support of any kind then run-don’t walk here. You’ll find everything you need and much more.

I have no idea what I would of done without the women that work there. My son started getting teeth at 4 months and bit right through my nipple. All my friends told me to go the pump station and get a nipple guard but when I got there they took me in the back room and asked to see my nipple! I showed her and she said She’d size my nipple for a custom guard but also she had noticed that I was breastfeeding him at a different angle than the other nipple which is why he bit it because he wasn’t getting a good flow and probably got frustrated. She had me show her my sons and I’s latch to that nipple and had me reposition him and it changed EVERYTHiNG! No nipple guard needed. I LOVE the pump station!

Barbara Zimmermann of the Pump Station is an absolute lactation guru! She was my 3^rd consultant hired because I had a particularly complicated case (extremely painful nipples and engorgement/​edge of mastitus almost weekly). Most consultants will give you general suggestions and guidance. But Barbara has the expertise to handle unique cases. She came to our house for a 1:1 consultation to delve deep into my specific issues. The answers weren’t obvious or easy to figure out. However, Barbara worked relentlessly to find solutions over the course of several months. She knew far more than other consultants and even my top notch OBGYN.
Breastfeeding was one of the hardest things I’ve done. But Barbara helped me tackle each problem. I would have quit at 4 weeks but instead, I’m still going strong at 5 months. My baby girl loves nursing. Plus, breastfeeding kept her 100% healthy when I caught a bad cold for 1 week. All this is priceless. Barbara has been an invaluable resource to our family. We owe her many thanks.

The pump station has made me a better, more confident mom, and that deserves 100 stars! Their breast feeding support group is invaluable to new moms like me, and they have all the nursing/​pumping supplies you need at really reasonable prices. I can’t imagine where I’d be without Corky and Barbara, I feel like I spent my whole maternity leave in their classes and I’m so glad I did!

This is my favorite Pump Station, mostly because the ladies that work here are so great.
I go to baby classes at both this and the Santa Monica locations since they’re both only about 15 – 20 mins from me in the Valley. They have classes on everything baby & parenting– such a great help for new moms like me.
Mommy & Me Class: The class places you in groups with babies in the same age range, and covers everything from first foods, screen time, sleep techniques, child care topics, developmental play, and even mommy and daddy relationship topics. For less than $ 360, that’s a lot of information! I have Julia as my teacher and she’s really fab! Probably the highlight of class though, are the other moms. Ive already met so many great friends!
Individual classes: «Hot Topic» classes are offered at least once a week at both locations. There’s a lot to choose from; infant massage, baby sign language, play development, first foods, etc. These are usually about $ 30 each.
Breastfeeding support; there’s a weekly support group — I believe it’s still weds, & the first one is free. I believe it’s worth it to pay for a private lactation consultation first though. My son was born very early and was on feeding tubes for the first few weeks of his life, and a bottle after that. He was too small to latch so I was pumping every two hours for months until I could come in. I had been given just horrible advice from the lactation ladies at the hospital and was ultimately told my baby would probably never take to breastfeeding. Pffffft– within a few minutes with Corky at the pump station, she had my son latched without any issue at all!

What an amazing resource center full of caring, responsive and broadly educated staff. I went to them for latching and milk production issues and could not have even dreamed I would get such above and beyond support.
They also give you the true to life run down on products, offer amazing classes and true to name, they Nurture.

This place is a great resource if you are looking for pumping and breast feeding gear. The staff is very knowledgeable about all the products on the market. The only issue I had was that they only carry a few brands. They also have really cute baby clothes, toys, and Honest Company products so it’s a great place to pick up a gift for your expectant friends. I went to get a rental pump while waiting for my insurance company to get their act together. The staff was very helpful and the rental was very affordable. You do have to pay for the month up front as well as a security deposit and cleaning fee so it is pricy up front. But if you are only expecting to rent the unit for a week, they will return most of your money back when you return the unit.
Their infant care class seems kind of pricy, too, considering that there are so many options around town. But they definitely have several classes on various topics including helping an older child transition to the new baby. Wish I knew of this one before my second came. Overall, really enjoyed the visit to this store and most likely going to return.

Had a problem with breast engorgement and whether my pump was effective enough. I started pumping after having delivered only 5 days ago with my first baby hoping it’ll help with the intense breast pain and its massive engorgement. Because this is my first child I didn’t know what’s normal and what wasn’t so I Called and left a message with barbara Zimmermann on Sunday night. And Monday early afternoon she returns my call and over the phone I explain to her my situation. she told me to come in with the breast pump that day and she’ll look at me in between appts. I’d give her and the place 10 stars if I could for how quickly she was able to get back to me and for the excellent services she provided me. My husband and I went into her office and she looked at my breasts and placed the pump on. She thoroughly went over all the things I should be doing to decrease my engorgement and also how to manage my milk production. because apparently the problem was I was producing too much milk. She was very patient as she demonstrated several techniques to help with the swelling as well as had me perform them on my own to make sure I had the technique down. She answered all my questions and then some. I highly recommend barbara Zimmermann if you’re looking for a lactation consultant! She was amazing and offered great support in our new role as parents.

First, this place is a definite resource if you just had a baby. They sell all the pump products you realize you need after having a baby and have a way better selection than bigger box stores. They have a nursing clothing section with bras and easy to nurse in tops. There is a lactation consultant that you can schedule an appointment with. They also have classes and groups. I went to the baby wearing class that was free and they showed me how to put my baby in all kinds of wearable carriers. The breastfeeding group was helpful for me as a 1^st time mom.
The negatives are that the breastfeeding group gets really full and just as much as it relieves fears and questions there is group anxiety and some intensity in that little room. Parking lot gets full and you may have to circle the neighborhood for a spot on the street. Lastly, as the name suggests they are a bit pump crazy instead of just letting new moms learn how to relax and feed. Some advice includes telling moms to pump more and measure how much comes out. That advice alone is incomplete because the pump is often not an accurate measure of what baby is getting. All in all a fun and informative place to go with your little one!

The Pump Station has been our go-​to resource for breastfeeding information and support since before the baby was born. Corky and Barbara are community treasures, and their weekly breastfeeding support groups have been invaluable to hundreds of women (including me!)
Just like we try to buy books at Skylight instead of Amazon (when possible), we try to give pump station our business for breastfeeding supplies and baby-​related products. They only stock the items people really like, so it’s not overwhelming like Babies R Us.

To all the new moms out there who are dealing with the horrible anxiety, frustrations, overwhelming responsibilities, discomfort and confusion that comes with the arrival of your wee one, don’t fret. There is help.
No, really. Don’t Google, don’t seek the advice of those crazy Facebook groups or message boards, and don’t listen to what your friend said that their cousin’s neighbor who had a baby a billion years ago did because if it totally worked for them, it’ll work for you! If you are looking for support, just come to the Pump Station.
It’s been five months since I started using this place as a go-​to resource for so many things, and I’ve never been disappointed with the knowledge, support and advice given to me.
Lactation Consultants: I hated breastfeeding from the very beginning, and reading all the books/​articles/​stupid YouTube videos about it made me feel like a total failure. I reached a breaking point (aka tears – mostly from the pain) about two weeks in, so I finally just called to make an appointment that week. Can I just say what a difference it makes to talk to another woman face-​to-​face about all the things you’re worried about when it comes to nursing a newborn? Corky not only taught me the basics, but also helped me figure out a routine to help boost my supply AND encourage me to keep trying. She even gave me her personal phone number so I could call her over the weekend with any questions.
It still took me a couple months to figure everything out (which felt like eternity) but she was nice enough to meet with me for a follow-​up appointment after a particularly bad day – which was exactly what I needed. I showed her what I thought was a problem, she comforted me and I left feeling so much better. I’ve never gone to therapy before, but I like to think that this is what it’s like.
Hospital Grade Pumps: Renting one of these (for around $ 3/​day) is a must if you’re trying to work on your supply. The downside is that by the time you return it and go back to using your cheap «but it was free from my insurance» pump, you feel like everything in your life has been downgraded from first class to the cargo hold. But if you need one or are interested in trying one, rent one from here!
Breastfeeding Support Groups: These groups meet every Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon, and the first session is free for newcomers. At first I hated myself for going (because I am stronger than this!!! I don’t need help! Wait, not really…) but it really is nice to just sit in a room with other new moms (and their little babies). You can ask any question you want and one of the LCs is always one hand to moderate, answer and provide support. It’s GREAT.
Hot Topic Classes: The Pump Station provides classes on pretty much anything you’re wondering about when it comes to babies. Each class costs $ 25 and the best part is that you’re free to bring your wee one with you (though there may be some exceptions… not sure. But just ask!). I’ve heard great things about the baby food class, and the Returning to Work session with Barbara really helped me figure out everything I needed to prepare and expect when it came to pumping at work.
Baby Products: While the products they sell are priced higher than you’d find online, I do appreciate that the Pump Station only sells items they believe in and are best for the baby. It’s much better than wading through the thousands of conflicting Amazon reviews (because you never know who to believe), and their salespeople are always around to help. This is also a great resource if you’re looking for a good (and useful) baby shower gift, because everything they carry is something that a new mom would most definitely use.
Mommy & Me Classes: These weekly groups are also a great way to learn about baby development while getting to socialize with other moms. Just find a group within your baby’s age (in a range of 3 months) and be sure to sign up fast, as slots do fill up quickly. It is a little expensive (around $ 320) but you not only learn new things every week, but you also develop a great resource for advice and ideas with the other moms via email and outside the Station. I also see this as a nice way to support a local business geared towards women (especially working women).
Okay, this turned into a massive review, but I hope some new mom desperately looking for help will find this all useful. There have been so many reassuring moments at the Pump Station that the support every woman needs during this trying period is readily available. I’ve seen one mom offer her supply of frozen milk to another in dire need of it for her infant son, others give away baby clothes and even a lactation consultant take time out of her personal schedule to sit down with a tearful new mom (of a week old baby!) after a class. This may sound cheesy, but witnessing these on-​the-​spur interactions helped me realize that the Pump Station offers a rapport for families that’s hard to find elsewhere.

Took an infant care class and was hooked. The Hollywood store is the closest to me and I’ve gone there several times since Miss Spawn was born. I rented a Medela Symphony pump for a couple weeks while waiting for my pump covered by insurance. While the store is small, it carries baby supplies that I need when I can’t wait for an online order. I’ve also attended their free sling clinic on Tues afternoons — I learned how to wear my baby correctly thanks to them. I wish they carried more products but I get that the retail space is small and they pick products that probably have great reviews/​ratings. My other wish would be that they open a store on the east side, ie Pasadena, Burbank, the Valley.
Parking: parking lot in the strip mall.
Prices: most products are sold at retail.
Bonus: this is a woman-​owned business!

So many women give up when breastfeeding gets hard (which it inevitably does!), so come here first before you do — get a one-​on-​one consultation and/​or go to the weekly support group with other new moms and Corky, one of the founders. You will learn SO much and pick up tips and tricks that will get you through those hard early days. I can’t recommend this place enough — it is an invaluable resource!

They saved my milk! I’m breast feeding my newborn baby and three months into nursing, my supply dropped significantly and I had to supplement with formula till my milk supply increased.
Corky walked me through a few tips on how I could stimulate more milk. My main issue was the pill even though I was on progesterone only. I got off that, rented a hospital grade pump for a week at about $ 3 a day and I was all caught up with 45 ounces in the fridge within two days!(I know the amount varies per person.)
As a new mom, you need to find your best resources for breast feeding and gathering info amongst other moms for great feedback and helpful input. I was amazed how fast I was able to catch up on my supply by tweaking just a few things.
They carry wonderful toys, clothes, baby products and all the coolest gear. I LOVE going in this store because you want the best for you and your baby and that’s how I feel when I shop here.
Also, they have classes for new mommies, from estate planning to breast feeding after going back to work. This store is a MUST visit to all the beautiful mommies out there!
