Max Cars

Buyer Beware! Max will pocket your down payment! Do not pay in cash as they will ask and you will have no retribution! They are very accommodating in the beginning but all will change once they have your money and signature. Do not accept verbal promises as he will not keep them. Unless you are willing to go in guns blazing to get them to keep their word. The customer service sours offensively once they have you reeled in! I agreed to and was assured one price and then was mislead as they stuck in undisclosed fees so that the down payment was not going towards the loan as discussed. I feel cheated. Its supposed to be an exciting experience to buy a new ride yet this was awful stressful and had to fight just to get things done. I would strongly advise against purchasing a car here!

I made an appointment to test drive a vehicle from Max cars. We were treated with the type of sugary sweetness you could expect from a con-​man.
We did a test drive. There was a check engine light on, which was voiced during «closing» conversations.
Max Arcadier looked me in the eyes and ASSURED ME he would take care of the check engine light. He was urgent that we sign and deal with the car that night. I declined.
I wanted the underlying issue fixed, which he assured me would happen, so I gave a $ 300 deposit.
It was amazing how quickly things changed once they had our money. Here’s the bullet point play-​by-​play:
— Vanessa L. Frank (Max’s Henchwoman) ask me to bring the additional $ 1,100 deposit in cash.
— We were given a FINAL PRICE. Max confirmed the price was FINAL and INCLUDED THE DEPOSIT. I opened the calculator app and deducted the $ 1,400 deposit from the final number, showed it to him. MAX AGREED.
— About two blocks away, the check engine light came on.
— I took the car back to Max
— Three days later the car was ready.
— We carefully looked at all the paperwork we were given. Max Arcadiar fraudulently indicated that we were employed at a restaurant we had never heard of (to ensure the loan went through).
— The check engine light reappeared.
— Additionally, the compass was broken and the brakes were having issues.
— I was told to take the car to the manufactures’s dealership. Vanessa previously told me the car had already been to that dealership.
— Manufacturer dealer told me a component ($ 800 +) needed to be replaced, or car won’t drive.
— manufacturer dealer told me the car had been there, and that they told Max Cars of the problem, specifically. That leads me to believe they attempted to hack the computer system to get the check engine light to falsly turn off.
— Then I was told (by max) there was a warranty on the car, and they would put it through the warranty.
— I left the car and waited. Three days later I was still paying for a car I had no access to.
— Max told me if the warranty people call me to LIE TO THEM. «Tell them the check engine light came on two days after you took it home.» (Max Cars.)
I finally secured the name of the person in charge of the warranty. He told me he had ask Max, just the day before, if there was any trouble. Max told him no, so he sent the warranty papers snail mail because of no issues.
— Three days later, I was informed by the warranty people the part wasn’t covered.
— Max then attempted to pin the repair on us and rationalized his reasoning for us to lie to the warranty company. If we told the truth, HE would be the one to foot the bill. How about that?
— After my better half was in tears on the phone, he said «You win, the repair won’t break me, I’ll pay for it.» really??? That’s what I had been told close to a month ago by this snake. We win, this was a game? We just wanted a car.
— 10 days later, I finally had my car. The Manufacture’s dealer told me the warrenty company would have sent an adjuster to check the check engine light time-​stamp — which would rightfully put the responsibility on Max. He also indicated that he had told Max Auto that.
— When the car note came in the mail, I was perplexed. I owed more than THE NUMBER WE BOTH agreed to.
— I ask the bank for a summary of charges. I leared about charges we never agreed to. I was told we should have been delivered the contract, by Max. We didn’t have it.
— Max stopped accepting my calls. Finally, Max got on the phone and became confrontational. He told me «SHUT UP, YOU’RE GOING TO LISTEN TO ME, ARE YOU CALLING ME A LIAR? NOW I’M GETTING PISSED OFF.» Then he hung up.
— Unbelievable. He lies to me, keeps my car hostage for almost a month, rips me off, belittles me on the phone, and he’s somehow the victim?
— When I got ahold ot the actual contract. I saw numbers we hadn’t previously seen, that don’t correspond with bank docs.
That summarizes my experience. I urge anyone who has had a similar experience with this person to file a formal complaint with the DMV Regional office, located 1135 Banks Road, Margate FL, 33 063. (open M-​F 8 – 5). Their phone number is 954−969−4216. Collectively, we can demand honest businesses.
