A gift certificate brought me to this hidden gem today and I was impressed. Everything was fresh, delicious, homemade and the menu contains essentials of the French menu. The bowls of mussels are big and the price includes french fries and a glass of wine of your choice. The steaming bread basket was delicious while we waited for the entrees. The staff is very friendly, gracious and pays attention to details. The service is slow(45+ minutes), but worth the wait. Naomi, the daughter of the chef/owner was our waitress and was very knowledgeable about the menu and very hospitable. I WILLBEBACK!

Fabulous French food. Everyone in this establishment will do their very best to make your meal a happy experience. I usually call from the wine bar next door and order a meal delivered to the bar. They actually bring the plate over and serve me as if I were in their restaurant. The food is wonderful.

Excellent, excellent little hidden gem. The service is friendly and very good. Everything was delicious, and very fresh. Many of regular customers are always retuning– for very good reason.

A gem that seems to operate beneath the radar. Excellent food, gracious service, loyal clientele. We’ll worth a visit. Glad we found it and we’ll be back for more.

The atmosphere was a little confusing since this is a French place but had a American diner look. Needs renovation but it gave this place a unique feel. We had frog leg salad and escargot to start, both had great presentation but to much garlic and parmesan. Blue cheese muscles were great make sure to ask for extra bread so you can dip in the sauce which was amazing. I have had better French cuisine but this a great value for the price and location.

Yes, I liked this place, but brasserie, not quite. Bistro is more like it and filled with every variety of gimmick you can imagine. I would love to take $ 250,000 and do a Gordon Ramsey on it. I must say the food is quite good and way below what the average French restaurant is charging. I lived in France for years and have never seen anyplace quite as «odd» looking as this and the help is a little odd as well, but that won’t keep me away since the food is the thing here and it shines. It’s not gourmet, but it’s very good for what we get here in the swamp that passes as French. It would be fun to turn it into Lipp, but we would need to move to Paris and with their financial mess who could afford it?

Food: Good, but nothing to get overly excited over. Had escargot which was good. I had the salmon with lentils which was delicious and worth the price(around $ 19, fair). My S. O had the rib eye, which was decent. It tastes like it was char — grilled which was unexpected and not what we wanted. For a French place I was expecting a more buttery pan-seared flavor. I would go again for the salmon dish. Also, the drink menu was sad. We’re beer enthusiasts, and the closest they had to french beer was Stella, which doesn’t count. Beer and wine list was very limited. Who goes to a French restaurant to drink Corona?! Service: good, but slow. While the waitress and hostess were very kind and attentive, it took about 45 min from sit-down to eating. That was unreasonably slow considering that more than half of the tables were empty. We didn’t bother with dessert because we felt it would take too long. Ambience: the place needs serious face lift. Décor from the 80s, dim lights and very low volume music(which was bad – some of it cheesy cover bands). I’m not looking for a night club, but they could learn a thing or 2 from the neighboring restaurants. By the time I finished my main course, I was falling asleep. I might go again.

A friend and I ate here on a coupon not expecting much and I was blown away by the taste, quality and quantity of the food yet at a very reasonable price. As for service the native French hostess was exceptionally friendly and helpful, later I found out she was in fact the chief’s/owner’s daughter so this is truly a family run business. There is an old adage that between«Price, Quality, or Service: Pick Two». At Le Comptoir you get all three. I look forward to eating here again sson!

The entrecôte with Roquefort was delicious. The one thing is the salad that came with it had a few wilted leaves that should of been thrown away. Overall for the price the food is good value.

My husband and I have been to a few of the restaurants on Harrison St in Hollywood, and had walked by this place more than a few times. I checked out the other reviews and it looked promising, so we decided to check it out. I will say, I think that during season, if you are going for dinner on a Friday or Saturday night, you should call ahead and make a reservation. The restaurant just isn’t that large, and like the few negative reviews here complained about, you would probably be waiting awhile-or might not be seated at all. That said, we called and made a reservation, and when we showed up, we were seated immediately, so no problems there. Now onto the experience. When we walked inside, almost all the tables in the middle of the restaurant were taken up by a large party of about 20ish people– and they were all speaking French– so I was hoping that was a good sign, maybe it was going to be really authentic! We ordered the ½ dozen escargot, and the frog leg salad to start, and they were both spectacular! I recommend the frog leg salad, definitely. Now for our entrees, we ordered the Dijon mustard mussels and the cream mussels. For $ 17 they serve 2lb of mussels, a side of fries, and a glass of wine. The mussels were absolutely delicious– both the sauces were great– and we were dipping our fries to sop up all the tastiness. I thought the mussels and the frog leg salad were awesome, and the everything seemed pretty authentically French!

My wife and I tried to have dinner here on Saturday night. I checked their website which was pretty poor to see if we had to make reservations. Could not find anything posted. So we showed up around 8:00PM and yep you needed a reservation. It would have been nice if their site said so. The Bar Person said we could come back after 9:30. We were not going to eat that late. Since the place was not really inviting as it was pretty dingy, we went someplace else. I don’t think we will try again. There are several other French Restaurants in the area to have dinner at. The attitude just left a bad taste for us.

I normally don’t go for French food, but my family had a coupon from to check it out. When we got there, there were no available tables, so we were seated at the bar until a table opened up. The place was small and cozy and the staff was very nice and friendly. They gave us delicious warm bread(we went through 3 baskets of it) I had the frog legs salad, which was great. It was an appetizer but big enough for a whole meal. We also got mussels which came in a huge portion, too. The steak and chicken were both delicious and everything came with french fries. We were all stuffed and happy at the end of the meal! We will come back for more!

Me and my husband went for anniversary dinner and everything was incredible! Our server was an 18 year old(daughter of the owner) she was amazing and very special. The food was superb and delicious, we order some scargots and mussels and it was really amazing. Everything is made to order by the French owner, Délicieux. It was a very special anniversary, I even got a surprise from my mussels… I found a black Pearl in one of them!!! We will definitely go back!!!

You can believe the reviews, this is a great restaurant. The menu is slightly limited, a lot of steak dishes, chicken a few fish, and Duck Orange. The mainstay are the mussels done in a few different ways, delish, served with excellent fries. We had the Mussels, Duck and Chicken Cordon Blu… all very good(and a bit to take home) Parking«may» be a problem but be persistent, you will find a spot… may have to walk a bit, but the area is interesting, we like it, nicer than Las Olas Worth the drive from Fort Lauderdale or Miami…

This family owned and operated restaurant continues to provide genuine French food. Mussels with varied sauces are all delicious and generous portions. Nice wine list. Reliable and predictably very good… still.

Le Comptoir is clearly a French restaurant serving up some rather well prepared French foods. Though the menu is somewhat abbreviated, it contains all of the French essentials one might expect. They have some really good mussels, frog legs(check for availability) duck al l’orange and a fillet of sole amongst other offerings. The wait staff is polite though somewhat goofy with a waiter chewing gum and some young girl who I saw seemingly accomplishing nothing except sitting in corner doing what I found to be a rather disturbing as well as distracting amount of cell phone texting. For myself, I went for the chef’s salad which was served unmixed with in rather unique clam shaped bowl arrangement which was tasty and good with little rollups of a meat, tomato and orange slices. Also the sole came in a really good size portion nicely breaded and done in a francese style. I happen to have been there on a Sunday night and though most other places were dead, Le Comptoir was in fact filled to capacity with dining fans which stands as a good testament as to their popularity and loyal following. The best part about Le Comptoir are the prices. Most French food restaurants of the area tend to be wallet punishing, but not Le Comptoir. Their offerings are more simple, basic French and with a simple menu, reasonable in price. Then, with the size of the portions taken into further consideration, a rather good bang for the buck.

Delicious fresh meaty mussles! Huge bowls of mussles, excellent escargot, some of the best seasoned french fries I have ever had! This place is a bit unusual in ambiance, but the service is good — both times I have been here it has been pretty empty and I’m not sure why because the food is amazing! If you love fresh shell fish in large portions at great prices try it!

This was a surprise to me. We were in the mood for mussels and a Unilocal search showed Le Comptoir. We arrived and noticed only 2 people in the restaurant. We ordered the muscles, the Steak Au Poivre. The service we perfectly paced. I was expecting it to be very typical to French restaurants where dinner may take over an hour or two but it was paced just right. As we finished our plates they brought out the next course. The mussels were AWESOME; they were tender and very plump/meaty. There were so many mussels my wife couldn’t finish them, so I took care of it. My daughter loved her beef steak and I loved my steak. The prices were not expensive and the service was pleasant. I will definitely be going back.
