PR, keeping up with social media & branding is HARD! It has been such a pleasure to hand the keys over to a professional, creative and responsible team! La Famos took us on as sort of a challenge. We are a restaurant, and therefore somewhat different than some of their other clients. Yet they have come up with outstanding ideas time & time again — it just proves how versatile and innovative they are. I’m a singer/​songwriter that lives in the Los Angeles area. I’ve been doing all of my PR and Marketing on my own for the past 8 years or so. It’s a lot of work, but I’ve learned a lot in the process. I’ve been very fortunate over the past few years, with some TV placements and radio play. About 2 years ago I decided I needed to expand my team, and work with a company for PR. I did a lot of research in the LA area. There are plenty companies out there that can scam you, and just run off with your money. (I made this mistake once with another company that shall remain nameless) After visiting the LaFamos offices, I felt they were a great fit for me. The employees are honest, and hard working people. They wont just tell you what you want to hear. They’ll help you build a detailed business model and get you where you need to go. Realistic goals, of course. LaFamos is a VERY honest company. I have worked with them on numerous projects now, and they are always so supportive. They come out to shows with mailing lists, help with designs for artwork/​t-​shirts/​logos, help with reviews in various publications, blogs, and so much more.

I love Hunter and his team. I am in a different situation than most artists. I am an artist but also a producer/​songwriter/​actress/​educator. I specialize in Artist Development. I cover all bases from Vocal Technique and Performance to Producing and Recording. So the assignment was not an easy one and no cookie cutter job. Felicia was my assigned person. She was professional and did her best to get my name out there to panels and in the press. I suggest that you check them out!

I had the great pleasure of working with Hunter, Amanda, and the crew right around the time they were just getting started. I usually have a tendency to go with people who are young and hungry and I was sold.
Through our relationship I didn’t just get an advantage in my career from their work, they taught me a lot of what to expect. It wasn’t just having a PR guy, I had a manager, a teacher, and a fan.
Everything from artwork and press kits, to even having someone from the company at my shows to monitor my merch table and handle my email list… they really helped take a lot of what I was doing (admittedly not very well) and gave me more time to be a musician.
Though I don’t currently work with the company (times are tough you know…) I still have a great relationship with them.

So I hired Lafamos for graphic/​branding work, so I can only speak for that…
Simply put, they blew me out of the water with what they came up with. We started with the logo. I wanted something creative and illustrated, not some generic font with my band name. They suggested that I look up a couple of logos that I like in order to give the graphic designer an idea for my taste. it took about 3 days, but I got a few different (really cool) ideas back. After telling them which one I liked most, it only took one more revision and it was perfect, which I got the very next day (so no more waiting a few days which can be frustrating as I get anxious). Album art was next. This is where the fact that they are primarily a PR company came to play: they suggested the best packaging that would be good for mailing it out later on, and helped me format it to the specifications that places like Amazon would need in order to stock it. I think one sheets are pretty easy to make, and their design was fantastic for it, while keeping everything well ‘branded’ with the album cover. The EPK is probably the coolest thing, because it really is focused on the press side and will make it easy to send my music to get it reviewed.
I didn’t have money to hire them for a publicity campaign, so like I said– this review is in regards to the graphic work they did. But with the level of professionalism in which they handled my work, and the great advice they gave me along the way when I had questions about getting my music reviewed on my own, I only have high praise for them.
I will definitely work with them in the future and recommend them to others. They were just really friendly and personable… which is great since I’m pretty new to the city.

As a Hollywood media professional who writes for any number of publications, blogs and other outlets, I toss probably 98 percent of the press materials that come my way. With Lafamos however, I always stop, listen and read — quite simply, because they are in the loop, and the artists with whom they choose to work are invariably many steps about typical indie acts. Having met the company’s owner and employees at conferences, trade shows and clubs, I can testify that their dedication to the indie artist and their professionalism on behalf of an expansive client list is commendable. Lafamos is the real deal — if you’ve got the musical goods, and you’re committed to a real career.

LaFamos, headed by Hunter Scott, is an incredible PR and Branding Firm. Without their help, my band wouldn’t be at the level we are today.
We were originally introduced to LaFamos by one of their A&R representatives. Their e-​mail was direct and informative, which led us to take a meeting. In said meeting, Hunter and Amanda were helpful as could be. They went through every service they offered and really gave a sense of who they and LaFamos were. We decided to go forward and we have never looked back.
LaFamos has helped us to gain recognition locally and nationally through their extensive outreach. They gave us great ideas and helped us brand ourselves as musicians. These services have proven to be invaluable to us and our success as independent musicians.

Where would I be without LaFamos?
I tell you where, I’d be stuck in front of my computer cussing up a storm trying to figure out how to get my name and brand out to a grander audience beyond my friends, family and local fans who have supported me throughout my music career.
I’d also be stumbling through photoshop or some other graphic design software that is beyond my comprehension only to come out with a logo that looks like my 6 year old cousin drew it… with his foot.
There are some things that a musician just can’t do, at least that I can’t do. I’m trying to be creative in my song development and working hard on my performances and new cd. I just CAN’T be bothered with these other important details. Thank Buddah for LaFamos.
Not only did they work diligently at getting my name and sound out to a more diverse fan base but they gave me monthly reports that laid out where I was receiving new attention. They helped me create a DPK (digital press kit) and a logo for my new stickers and t-​shirts and best of all the speak my language… musician! Because everyone that works there is also a musician.
They worked with my budget, kept me updated and shared in my successes because they really care about their clients. I’ve even referred several other musician friends to work with LaFamos.

Don’t waste your money with these people! They are the most unprofessional people I have ever worked with. Their graphic designer is a total joke. No creativity whatsoever! After they sent us the most unimaginative layouts we’d ever seen, we had to sketch out designs for them and tell them exactly what to do. Even then, they sent things to us with numerous mistakes, typos and inconsistencies that were so elementary it looked like a jr. high kid did them. I literally spelled out corrections to make them crystal clear and they would still come back with the same mistakes. After asking them to correct the simple mistakes on the final draft of our flyer, it took them over a full day to get it back to us — missing our deadline that we had given them weeks before.
We were never able to figure out if our AE even bothered to proof the stuff that the graphic designer did before she sent them to us. Either way it was unprofessional because the job of an AE is to catch stuff like that. So, either she wasn’t doing her job or she was just as much of an idiot as the graphic designer.
The next step was writing a press release. They sent over a draft for me to read and provide comments. Sadly, their writer was no better than the graphic designer. This is when I knew we were in trouble. OK, maybe they don’t specialize in graphic design. But for a «PR firm» writing is where they should excel. The press release was riddled with typos and was the most boring, uninteresting thing I had ever read. My «edits» would have been to re-​write the entire thing myself. At this point, we determined it would be best to cancel our contract with them to avoid further disappointment.
Hunter was extremely defensive about everything and totally unprofessional. I think the only way they get by is because most of their clients are indie musicians who probably aren’t very business savvy themselves and so they unfortunately don’t know any better.

LaFamos is an amazing service that far surpasses similar companies in the US. I am a musician in the Bay Area and I couldn’t have printed my new cd without the outstanding service, expertise and attentiveness of Hunter and his talented staff.
The graphic design team did a professional job with the cover, and I’m extremely proud showing people my cd.
The marketing team knows its stuff through and through, helping me promote my cd with awesome results.
Upon looking for a cd printing company, once again LaFamos came through with the best recommendations, price comparisons and pros and cons of the different companies, helping me make my decision with ease and confidence.
Their service is professional, personal, helpful, and I recommend it to any musical artist looking for a leg-​up in the industry — shows, blogs, radio, newspaper, cd sales, itunes, you name it!
I do have to say one thing about expectations — if you want LaFamos to make you an overnight star, you need some other service, like God. Things take time, advertising doesn’t work instantaneously, but rest assured LaFamos is working on your stuff in the meantime.
Oh, and they also have a grant program, to help up and coming artists on a budget get out there. I haven’t heard of any other company that does that.
