THIS REVIEW IS ABOUT «CARLOS AZURIA» THE TECH. THIS IS NOT ABOUT THE COMPLEX ITSELF.
Carlos is the man. He is incredibly professional and kind. He’s fixed a few things in my apartment (fridge, microwave, hot water, mold in the wall, cabinets, among other things) and every single time he’s has a great attitude. He gets things done quickly, and efficiently. If you ever need anything, he’s your man. Give him a raise.

I love the view from my Jefferson at Hollywood Apartment. Every year I get to watch the entrance of the Oscars and the nominees as they walk into the Hollywood & Highland complex across the street!

This is a review for their tech service only, NOT the complex (which I hate and can’t wait to move out).
The tech service here is great. Every time I call, they are over here within a day. My ac was broken and Carlos came the next day and replaced the transformer and then went out if his way to change the filter too. He was polite and very professional. Great nice people every time. I wish I could say the same for the rest of the complex, but that’s a different review.

I just wanted to send a Special Shout Out to the Maintenance Supervisor Tim. Tim is just an Amazing Spirit. There is never a time when I see him that he doesn’t have a smile on his face. He is the picture of Positivity and is always listening to what you need. He is fast, effiecient and he always followa up with you. I have lived in a few apartment buildings in my life time and I must say that Tim is a Diamond in the rough. We are sooo Lucky to have him here at the Jefferson!!!

Great place! Just had to write a quick review and let everyone know what an awesome place the Jefferson at Hollywood is! We are so excited to see all the upgrades and looking forward to what the end result! We are right in the heart of Hollywood and across the street from all the stores we need, including the metro, so getting anywhere we want to go is quick and easy!
Great stuff Jefferson at Hollywood! Home sweet home!

Just moved in July and cant live here anymore. The neighbors complain is just too much when its not us and the staff doesn’t believe us. Because of the poor construction I have to tiptoe in my home. It doesnt feel like home anymore when you live above of an angry old lady who complains when you drop a single thing on a floor. Staff is rude and they cant do their job even properly. My package was in their leasing office and they were lying that we took it but it end up being in their leasing office. Worst place I ever lived!

This review is specifically for the management team and the maintenance team. They are awesome and very helpful, Carlos A. is a very hardworking team member and always goes above and beyond when I need light bulbs changed, my A/​C filter replaced, etc. They are always so nice and ask how I am doing and if there’s anything I need from them, even just passing by in the hallways or in the elevator!

Have lived here for 4 years and the amenities are great — and maintenance always answers issues in a timely manner. Very much appreciate Carlos Azurdia and his excellent work!

I love the place I live in! Especially maintenance team which makes my life easier! They respond quickly to resolve any issues in apartment. Carlos is the best! He is knowledgeable and dedicated. It doesn’t matter what problem do you have: your fridge doesn’t work properly, sink has to be drained, or bath faucet has to be changed. Carlos does awesome job!

Not only is our community getting an exciting makeover, but Haley Howell and her staff continue to provide great residence service! Maintance is quick to resolve issues, and leases don’t sky rocket when it’s time to resign! This team is dedicated to the community and never stop making Jefferson a great place to make home!

Carlos did a great job on a maintenance call I had made. He went above and beyond in fixing my fridge and even suggested he switch the doors for a more comfortable work space in the kitchen.

The Jefferson in Hollywood is truly the worst building I have ever had the displeasure of living in. I am writing this review for one reason, to warn people about what they will have to go through while living here.
Instead of going on and on, I have compiled a list of issues you will have to deal with if you move into this building.
1. The washing machine sounds like someone has placed a bowling ball in it when it is on the spin cycle.
2. A car parked in my «reserved spot» for almost two weeks and the office refused to remove the car out of the spot until they gave it’s owner five warnings over the period 10 days.
3. The fire alarms go off constantly. And I mean constantly. This is not because of a van near the sprinkler or a spoon in the oven. It is because much of the «luxury complex» is made up of irresponsible children and criminals. They will set off the alarm and wait for you to exit your apartment hoping that you will exit the apartment leaving the door unlocked and from there they will rob you blind. How do I know this? I know this because on numerous occasions I have had people try to come into my apartment while the alarms are going off (I have heard whoever it is messing with the door handle and I have seen you running off through my peephole — this is not going unnoticed). I also know this because one of THE JEFFERSON’S security guards told me himself that that has happened to residents in the past.
4. A letter went out saying that they were having fire marshals check each fire alarm in each apartment to make sure they are in working order and they left my front door unlocked. It was unlocked for hours that day because I work for a living.
5. The entire complex either smells like drugs or urine depending on the time of day.
6. Numerous times my packages have been sent back to the distributors because the people in the office weren’t there to let them in between 3 — 3:30 PM.
7. The stairwells are covered in urine and vomit.
8. There is trash everywhere. In the garage, all over the trash room, in the hallways, etc.
9. Homeless people get into the building and sleep in the stairwells and in the garage.
10. My car as well as my neighbors car has been broken into numerous times. (This is in our gated parking garage)
11. To get into the garage you have to wait in line for the tourists to pay their 20 dollar parking fee just so you can get down to the basement parking lots.
12. The office staff up until recently has been one of the worst problems. Even with all of these issues, they refuse to do anything about it. The new people in the office will at least listen to your issues, but from what I have seen they don’t do anything to back up their apologies.

This place needs to hire more security. I have lived here 2.5 years and wanted to wait until I moved out to write a review, but I am currently awake and scared because someone woke me up by knocking on my door — at 4.30am. I was too scared to even get up to look through my peephole, but I’m guessing some hollywood transient. They did it three times with minutes in between each so all I could do was pray my door was for sure locked.
Just last week we received a notice that there was an assault in our parking garage. This building takes up an entire city block and has three entrances — we need more than one security guard roaming around at night with the current state of Hollywood.
My next door neighbors got evicted within the past couple weeks, and I am so thankful that whatever their situation was I never heard a peep out of them.
Like other reviewers said, the middle of the night alarms are also annoying and heart attack inducing.
Lastly, it’s ridiculous that we have to share a parking entrance with the general public and wait in line for them to pay. Try doing this on a Friday or Saturday night when everyone is coming to Hollywood to go clubbing. They couldn’t have made a separate lane at the least?
Only giving one extra star because I love my actual unit and also maintenance here who are super quick and effective. It’s a shame we will definitely be leaving this place when the lease is up this time around. Hopefully to a building with a doorman…

Some things at Jefferson are great. The pool is amazing. But in the 24 months we lived there, we had drug dealers move in across the hall. They were promptly robbed by other drug dealers. And when the police came, they all ran out of the apartment screaming they were being bitten by bed bugs. The fire alarms go off constantly and at all hours of the night. I can’t tell you how many times we have been woken up at 4am! The gate that separates residents from the daily pay lot is always broken and both of our cars have been broken into. Worst is the trash room and the lack of cleaning in the hallways. When I notified assistant manager Alex Lazar that there were a few issues I would like to discuss before I signed another lease, we were promptly notified that Essex would not renew our lease!!! This despite 24 months of always paying rent on time, never having a single complaint lodged against us, nor any other type of issue. We are a middle age, married couple. Generally considered ideal tenants. I was blown away! I guess the assistant manager would rather have criminals then hear about a few complaints. We will happily move out at the end of our lease. It’s such a shame they can’t find better management. It won’t take long before the Jefferson is basically a housing tenement, the way it is currently being run.
P. S. I sent many requests to speak to upper management through the Essex website, which declares «we want to hear from you». NO RESPONSE

Since the original review, Jefferson has made some real efforts to improve. The building has been painted (much more attractive colors), the FOB (keyless entry system was upgraded), making it more difficult for undesirable non tenants to enter the premises and the front office staff is now much more professional and it seems to be consistently the same faces, as opposed to a constantly rotating series of temps.
There are still problems with cleanliness in certain common areas, but
I am hopeful that this will be the next issue the Jefferson staff attempts to deal with.
Overall. I am glad that we decided to stay here, so I am changing my original review.

We’ve been living here for almost 4 months now and I can say I’ve never been happier!
The staff is always great and helpful and the maintenance team is superb!
Our apartment is located on the hollywood blvd side of the building, above an alley and the club Cashmere. This worried us in the beginning, but the building is sound proof, I’ve not been bothered by noise in the night except for the fire alarms, which have not been going off as much lately.
The fire alarms did drive me crazy for awhile because they would go off around 3 AM to 6 AM and would scare me! The intercom is in your bedroom and is so incredibly loud, I thought I would have a heart attack.
Honestly that is the only thing that ever happens here. Sure, there is a wide range of eclectic individuals, but I’ve had no issues. The pool is always great and relaxing, the gym is wonderful and parking is fine.
However I will suggest the public parking people and our building maybe come to an agreement for visitors of residents. They always want to charge $ 10-​$ 20 for friends of residents even when I come down there to talk to them. I understand paying to park, but maybe a little less than ripping off. I realize Jefferson has not much control over the parking guys, but they are NOT awesome.
Everything about living here has been wonderful otherwise, and I reiterate that we found a gem in the heart of Hollywood.

Wanna live in a noisey, ghetto, drug infested apartment??? move here!
Oh and also if u enjoy evacuating your apartment every other night because the fire alarms sounds off constantly

Updating my review for a second time and removing one star. Today they had fire alarm inspections and my door was left UNLOCKED. They’re handing out fliers and instructing residents to never let people into the building because of all the stuff that has gotten stolen or broken into (It’s Hollywood, it happens everywhere here, not building specific). THEN YOU LEAVE MY DOOR UNLOCKED!!!

I am going to update my review for this place, as there is one thing that is really starting to effect me, and something can easily be done about it. I’ve had multiple packages attempted to be delivered to here, and during working hours, just to have the UPS guy not able to get into the building/​no one in the leasing office to accept the package. What are you people doing during business hours that you cannot accept packages that are IMPORTANT and must be received EXACTLY when they are delivered. The UPS just unloads everything into the main office, which is fine, but when no one is in the office to accept the package, they UPS man cannot get into the complex to actually deliver the packages. This has happened a total of three times for me in four months. Unacceptable.
A solution to the problem that my previous apartment complex had, which is in the same tier of quality living/​price wise, is have a front desk agent that controls the door (and in this case, the elevator) and allows UPS, food delivery, or anything important up, that we as residents, require and expect out of the community that we pay for. I know there are security of site, make a little desk and add one to the front door. It doesn’t need to be 24 hours, but I’d say at least until 11pm would be fair to expect.

I’ve lived here for a bit now and I can say I haven’t seen any dog pee/​poop, trash in the hallways, no stacked up trash in the trash room, no people speeding through the garage, no noise issues, or crazy drunk idiots in the hallways. Simply put, I think the majority of the complaints here are from one or two time occurrences, that honestly, are going to happen in a middle tier priced apartment complex in Hollywood, and people get butt hurt because for some odd reason they expect more. Sorry but if you want perfection in an apartment community in Hollywood you’re gonna have to start looking upwards on the price scale, much upwards.
I will say though that the office staff seems pretty incompetent. Not much going in there, like they’re just hanging out until the shift is over and they just do what they have to do, nothing more. When moving in I was basically just a body in the room while the leasing person joked with other residents. Not really an issue with me because I never interact with the office after move in unless it’s something serious, like broken AC/​fridge etc. too many people expect too much from these mid tier apartments.

Just letting you know, that Jefferson/​ESSEX is paying people to post 5 star reviews. Look at the time period in which they’ve been posted… I lived here for 1 year, my husband lived there for 1 year also… this place is a NIGHTMARE. Trust me you don’t want to live here… Horrible staff especially Holly, Daisy, Alex and Dijon… Holly is the worst manager ever, she should be fired immediately. She is one of the main reasons why I moved out.
You will LOVE Jefferson if you like:
— Loud parties.
— People singing loudly at all hours.
— The smell of weed everywhere in the building.
— People constantly playing music on loud speakers at the pool area.
— Every weekend some loser has a party in the BBQ area so you cannot enjoy the amenities.
— Some A-​hole is parked in your parking spot.
— Prostitutes walking the hallways.
You will HATE Jefferson if you:
— Have a life of substance.
— Have an actual job with responsibilities.
— Love to sleep in occasionally.
Chose your lifestyle: if you chose to be a loser, then you’re home baby!

Fire alarms at the worst times ¾ in the morning and ⁸⁄₉ am at least once a month. Never been a fire. Very annoying fire alarm (read other reviews).
They send out letters for everything, I don’t mean to be a treehugger but come on, everyone has an email now.
Washer makes a sound like a bowling ball is in it with every load I do. They don’t care about anything once they get your money.
Ohhh and there’s public parking at the building expect loud noises of out of towners turning up 7 nights a week until ¾ in the morning.
Can’t wait to move, been here for 9 months, and at 1870 a month for a one bedroom I’ll take my money somewhere else!

Despite the change from greystar to bre to essex, I must admit it’s probably very challenging for a new team to come in a «dictate» changes. The first management team was great, they screened their future residents well and made sure they made a good relationship with each resident signing a lease, Ishma was great. Second team, although they returned a very important package during Christmas time, they accommodated a small token of compensation, the third… Wow. Their lack of communication and respect was beyond me. The security services «platinum security» was more ghetto than the new residents. I know it’s hard taking on a project that was probably on it’s way to the bottom, but letting everything liquefy in the midst of breaking apart is what I don’t understand. The rental agent turnover was crazy, Monique was the only one left standing and pretty much the only person there who knew what service really meant. The managers were overworked and took a lot of their frustrations out on the residents. Mauricio, I guess that’s what his name was, how did you get this job??? He’s absolutely GHETTO! Call in for an inquiry, you’ll know what I mean. I swear this place is converting to section 8 housing just to fill up occupancy.
Although my apartment was flawless and fun to be in only because of my décor, the facility in itself was incredibly disgusting. The pool water was murky, the chairs were dingy, the gym is anything but high tech. It’s ringworm central!!! Getting delivery service was the worst, having to pick up your goods at the lobby defeated the purpose of getting delivery. The remotes to the gates never worked and the parking situation was horribly dangerous. People smoking weed on every floor, maintenance men taking pictures of your place while repairing things, got so bad only the manager of maintenance was allowed in my place for security purposes. The elevators took an eternity to arrive, that’s only if it was working, however the wait was worth it because the stairwells were dangerous. Bumping into a few homeless people in stairwells were a common thing, not to mention some sleeping your parking spot. My vehicles were broken into numerous times and nothing was done except for the fact that my insurance company and a couple of $ 500.00 deductibles later, my cars were brought back to original condition. Lol! My friends had their storage broken into not once, but two times where their designer pulls for shoots were stolen totaling $ 15k+.
They are understaffed and totally stressed, it’s really sad to see Essex, let these poor group of individuals go down in flames. Also, after speaking with one of the grounds keeper, it turns out that there are a total of three of them to keep the entire complex clean. Impossible is what I thought, and it was never kept up so impossible it was. The parties outside my window seemed like the ghettos of the world came together to have a twerk fest. Clouds of weed smoke filled the air, throw up all over the place, and to sum it up, we were attacked by a group of trashy people because we asked they keep it down at 230 am, YES 230 AM!!! The «24 hour security» even told them where we lived, concluding in us calling the police to handle what was Essex’s finest should have from the beginning. Those people paid us another visit where I had to take matters in my own hands having to punt the fat whale like wannabe plus size model outside my apartment. YES EVERYONE, SHE CAME IN TRYING TO ATTACK ME!!! So she go kicked! Lol.
The place is overpriced, dirty, scary, and not worth anyone’s misery. Please refer to my pictures, I really wish I could upload videos because I have one of a security guard climbing over plants to bum a cigarette off of my neighbor who was doing homework to complement the barbecue he was having while supposedly securing the ghetto from getting into the already ghetto place.
My advice, the team needs more help to accommodate the growing ghetto or at least contain it.
