H&R Block

OK, So, Here’s the situation. I did my taxes online, FOR FREE the other day and was having problems with my 2007 AGI and IRS pin from last year. So, I go over to the local HR block office and ask them for some help. Upon entry there are 3 people standing at the front desk. No hello, no how can we help you. They just stop talking and look at me. I take it upon myself to strike up a convo.
I tell them whats going on with my tax situation and VERY clearly explain whats going on. I KNOW how to do taxes, I am not an idiot. Apparently, they are the idiots. They just stand there still staring at me. HELLLLO?! (I wanted to scream!!!) «Can you help me?» Crickets. Great. so then I ask, «well, ok, how much would it cost for you to help me?»
Their response «i dunno».
Me «like 100?»
Them «don’t know»
Me «like, can we figure that out please?»
Them «OK how are you filing? Blah blah blah»
I answer all their questions and their response… «call the IRS».
me «really?! no shit!!! I have done that and they are swamped with calls and NO one, can get through!!!»
Them «well…»
At this point, I just turned around and walked out. I would NEVER in my life EVER want these idiots dealing with my money. Ever.
Of you DO do your own taxes on-​line, do the FREE version from HR block or turbo tax. I had about 5 W2s some from out of state, and 2 1098’s and I was just fine. if the IRS doesn’t recognize your AGI (which is how they identify you) call them. Avoid asking ANYONE else for help there. I found it was easier to get through around 430−5pm and the wait was about 10 min, and believe it or not, the IRS guy… amazing.
