I love the events they have on Hollywoods Broadwalk. But I wouldn’t call this a clambake. All they had available for seafood was fried goo. Tho part of my being at this event was to party and walk around and have fun, which was accomplished. But part of me really wanted nice fresh seafood. No lobster? no crablegs? No clams that weren’t fried in fat? However, I had plenty of beer on the beach so in that sense, mission accomplished! But this is Florida with miles of sandy beaches… surely we can find fresh seafood with lobster at a clambake?

Fresh seafood, Entertainment and Live Music along the boardwalk. First time to this event and it was so much fun. Arrived at about three oclock and it was hot but the weather soon changed to a great breeze, very comfortable walking around. Food vendors lines up on the boardwalk, mostly fried foods. Fried clams, fried vegetables, fried shrimp, fries, fried everything… We stopped in at a place that had a nice tent where you could sit down and enjoy your food out of the heat. Shrimp, were huge and excellent. Some of the best shrimp, and the clams hubby loved them. Steamed to perfection. See pictures… Booths lined up with all kinds of arts and crafts and loads of jewelry. Beautiful hand crafted jewelry but prices were high. I was able to find my mom a B-Day present so that was cool. Beautiful piece of jewelry, that was unique and different. We strolled back and forth found a great place for maragritas for $ 5, and yes they were strong. Gina can confirm… We met Gina and her family and friends later that afternoon. It was so much fun walking around, people watching, and the best was looking at all the old cars. The music was lively, saw three different bands that were all good, people dancing and having a good time. All the restaurants had posted their specials on outside chalk boards. Lively, fun event and a great crowd of people. Not five stars only because I felt they had way to much fried foods… not everyone likes fried food. The beautiful scenery, great company, perfect weather, great time. Will go back next year for sure! Perfect Day!!!

My second clambake and a remarked scale down from the last one. One music stage instead of two and less vendors. BUT having said that. It was great fun and I LOVE things like this which showcase the best of what South Florida has to offer(food, weather and the beach!) It was great to have met Michelle and Domenic because they were able to tell me which stand was the best for the pour for drinks(and guys… you were super right because the second place we bought at was more mix, less tequilia). BUUUUUTTTT…$ 5 for a margarita in a plastic cup so who’s complaining?
This year we went specifically so the kids could see the vintage car show — look kids… your mom is a year older than this one!!! :(That was fun. The cars were great. Check out Michelle’s photos! My boys went running the minute they saw them… and then the kids soon followed. I was so impressed at how much a lot of the boardwalk restaurants have cleaned up and at the great renovations the City of Hollywood has done and continue to do. The boardwalk was PACKED… the bands were doing a great job and really, nobody was getting fleeced. The guys I was with found a store on Johnson Street selling can’s of beer for $ 1.00 and so they were getting their brown bag in a can thing going on. Everyone was super happy, the people watching was 100% excellent. When I got there at about 6p.m. in the evening the garage parking was only $ 5($ 20 earlier in the day for the whole day) We saw families on the beach who had obviously been there the entire day… with pop up canopy’s, loads of coolers and chairs(and people… of all ages) and now, come evening time… torches and pizza and beer on the beach, listening to the salsa, doing a little dance, watching the cruise ships sail out. So cool So Chill So the Florida that I love
