This is my 1^st Unilocal review, and I felt compelled to write this review to give some balance to the blanket 5 star ratings this shop appears to have & which made me choose it.
I try always to be objective as possible, looking at things from the owner’s perspective as well as my own.
With that said, first & foremost, their customer service is great. Joey, the Owner, and Steve, the General Manager, go to a great extent to provide a welcoming atmosphere. If customer service is your priority then, I can only say good things: They provided free transmission diagnostics, free towing, they gave me a ride home, and they let me keep my car there for several days after the work was done without charge. To that extent, I feel reluctant to criticize their actual repair work, however, I can’t simply overlook the issues because of the investment involved. Joey genuinely appears to be a hardworking, nice, & helpful guy who takes pride in his family owned shop.
So, last Summer, I was experiencing transmission problems with my 2003 Accord: mostly hard shifting in low gears. However, there came a point when the car wouldn’t shift out of 3^rd.
I have fairly bad luck finding honest mechanics, so, after some googling, I came across Hillside Lee Myles based the Unilocal reviews. Joey answered & after I described the problem, he told me to bring it down right away.
At the shop, Joey put the scanner on the car, then took it for a test drive. After some time, we both noticed a heavy jerk in the shifting. He told me that it may be the beginning of a transmission problem; but what struck me was instead of recommending costly transmission service, he said that it may be a problem that «you could live with». That was surprising since it seemed he was making a recommendation based off my interest & not just to make a buck.
When we got back, they found that the transmission fluid was low & that there was a leak in the line. They «repaired transmission breather» & replaced the fluid. The final cost was $ 163. He did recommend to return to fix the broken mounts. The car drove quite well after that. Joey also called the day after to see how the car was doing. All of this really impressed me, so when my girlfriend’s transmission failed, I called the shop immediately; they even had her car towed without charge. After they told her it was an internal transmission issue, she decided it wasn’t worth fixing, and they let us have the car towed back.
In January, my car’s transmission began shifting rough again, and just stopped shifting into higher gears. I got it to the shop & this time primarily dealt with Steve. After 2 days, he called me back to say that it was an «internal transmission» issue which would cost $ 1100 to open up and diagnose which would be applied to any repair. Though I could have purchased the same car for the price of the repair I decided to do it since I was confident I would have a good working transmission with a guaranteed. When Steve called back, he gave me a detailed explanation of the repairs needed: torque converter replacement, transmission rebuild along with fixing the motor mounts. Total cost: $ 3295+tax. This was more than what I was expecting but at this point I was already invested so I gave him the go ahead.
When I went to pick the car up, upon starting it, there was a noticeable heavy vibration. I started driving it, and the vibration went away, but when I stopped, it returned. I returned to the shop immediately. Joey started the car & felt it and told me that it was probably related to the mounts and I’d have to leave it.
The car was «ready» 2 days later, & this time I felt less vibration but still more than before the service. Steve said give it time for the mounts to «break in» & to return in 500 miles. Simply, the vibration issue got worse. In addition, the transmission still shifts rough in cold weather. There were also several scratches on the doors which I know weren’t there prior to the service. It’s an old car so no big deal.
However, one day, I experienced a period where the car would not shift out of 3^rd, and brought back to the shop. Steve took it with me for a drive & the vibration issue was unmistakable. He did try to say that all cars vibrate but that this was excessive. However, during the test drive he didn’t find any issue. They kept the car for 2 more days. When I came to pick it up, I still felt pretty much the same vibration. At this point, I just need to the car to get to work and can’t keep leaving it.
Perhaps the underlying problem is related to a deeper issue which would require more time and expense than what the business is worth. I’m not sure, but what I am sure of is that paying the book value of the car to have it fixed in a manner in which it drives worse than when the transmission failed was probably not the best choice. Steve did call back to ask how the car was and I told him it was still vibrates to which he said, «Well, 4 cylinder cars tend to vibrate to some extent».

I visited a few days back & got my breaks serviced. I was attended by Joe and have to say him and the entire staff were very friendly and made me feel comfortable, most auto shops lack of that. I was told what the problem seemed to be and was given a couple of options to resolve it. I took the least expensive option knowing the problem wasn’t hazardous at all and was just an irritating noise, I was told it is a ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ chance of it working or not, although it didn’t work I am still satisfied because I know I can finally trust an auto shop and when I am financially ready I can go back for the more effective option I was given to resolve the problem.

Excellent Staff & Gr8t Maintenance on all of my foreign and domestic vehicles. Lee Myles has become my primary maintenance facility for my Cadillac Sedan Deville, Toyota Camry & Saab Turbo-​4 and the maintenance fees are more than reasonable. My vehicles always run like new… And stay new after they perform maintenance and finding quality parts is never a problem. Steve, Joey & Saundra will make you feel at home. They have a towing service, a secure car-​key drop-​off for after-​hours and a very comfortable waiting area and I give them my Best Quality Rating ! Maintenance for your vehicle will always be the best — and trust me, you can forget about the rest. Their diagnostic tools and the experience of their personnel is Unmatched. As a former US Air Force Commando and Spectre Helicopter Gunship Jet Engine Mechanic, I give Lee Myles on Hillside Avenue in Hollis, Queens my Highest Recommendation.

The service here is excellent and they give you a honest and thorough assessment of the repairs needed for your car. Steve was amazing and even drew a diagram to make us understand better how transmissions work. He is definitely one of the best in the industry.
My Acura MDX was up and running again like new after the transmission was repaired here. The car is in immaculate condition now and I couldn’t be happier. I recommend anyone out there that has transmission issues to come here. My Acura dealer couldn’t diagnose and fix the transmission issues for a year, but Lee Myles took care of that in a couple of days !

It is not often that I write a review but this one deserves one. I am one of those that actually know a lot about cars so I’m particularly picky when it comes to choosing a mechanic. The qualities I look for in a mechanic are experience, service, and most importantly honesty and integrity. There are far too many inept and shady mechanics out there looking for immediate gains and finding them is a breath of fresh air. They are very skilled in their craft and genuinely helpful. Joe and Steve exceeded my expectation and earned my trust. I am one happy customer and I can recommend them without hesitation. Finding shops like this is one of the reasons why I use Unilocal.

The staff at Lee Myles Transmissions (the individuals whom I interacted with were Steve, Joe and Sara) all helped make my first experience at this location exceptional. Steve and Joe gave me honest and professional advice in regards to servicing my vehicle. Work on my vehicle started right away and was finished earlier than I initially predicted; however, they did not sacrifice the quality of my vehicle’s inspection. Steve and Joe gave me an honest diagnostic of the vehicle’s current condition and briefed me on any maintenance they recommended or deemed necessary in terms that I could comprehend. Without asking to be present they kindly invited me to look at what they were talking about. Sara was an absolute pleasantry as she handled the paperwork and helped break down the costs of my visit, giving me a detailed receipt from the work I had done on my vehicle. Any and all of my questions and concerns were addressed and I left that day with what I needed and some more insight and confidence in my vehicle’s performance. The price is reasonable, justified and the experience is that of a friendly, honest environment. I highly recommend Lee Myles Transmissions.

Went here and Steve helped me such a good guy. I knew I needed brakes and rotors so I looked up a good shop and found Steve. They were running a special I walked out getting free rotors. You can’t beat that. Thanks Steve and Joe for hooking me up

I came in and was greeted by Steve, let start off by saying grade A service. He was honest up front and got my car fixed driving like brand new. I recently went to Lee Myles with my Nissian Rogue 2008. I was taken care of by Steve. He took my car for a road test to see exactly what it was that my car needed. He was very personable and friendly. Turns out my car needed a new engine. He showed me and explained to me exactly what needed to be repaired. He was very honest and straightforward to ensure my car would be serviced correctly, fixed promptly and wouldnt burn a whole in my pocket either. I picked up my car two days later and my ride was running like new. I have been to this Lee Myles location, in Hollis, a few times. There’s a reason I keep coming back and it’s not just because I drive a hoopty. I keep coming back because I trust Joe and trust my car with his shop. Joe gives me a complete and honest assessment of what repairs I need before any work is done. He explains what parts I will need, how much labor is involved and has NEVER pushed an unnecessary sale. I have even given him my budget and how much longer I would like to drive my car and he was able to adjust everything accordingly. I was fortunate enough for Joe to introduce me to his father (the reason I bring this up), is because this proves to me this is a family run shop. So skip the gas stations you may not trust and come here for a honest assessment and exceptional work.

The customer service at this shop is top notch! Joe and his staff have great standards and make sure that I was taken care of. His fortitude to make sure that the customer is taken care of is unparalleled. Many mechanic shops that I’ve been to in my lifetime always swindle you. I highly recommend this shop to anybody out there to get great service!!!

One word: exceptional. I called them on a whim, having already decided where I was going to get my car serviced (Firestone). I spoke to Steve over the phone who told me to come in for a free diagnostic check-​up, same day, showed up within an hour of hanging up. From the moment I pulled in, to when the check-​up was done was all of 15 minutes. When I went to Firestone, it took them almost an hour, with an empty shop, ridiculous! _​_​x_​_​ (will edit with his name, misplaced his card!) was great, he took care of absolutely everything, made it a stress-​free process and was efficient.
Lee Myles definitely has a homey vibe, Steve and _​_​x_​_​were excellent, and HONEST. I can’t believe I was going to go to Firestone, never again. The one thing I value above all in any business I go to, is honesty, especially as a woman going to an auto repair shop, I fear getting taken advantage of all the time, but at Lee Myles I felt like they were 100% up-​front and honest with me, and did not give me any bullshit stories or runarounds. This place is definitely my new go-​to spot, and will absolutely come again, and would recommend to everyone!

If you are looking for an honest and reliable mechanic, look no further. My family and I have been coming to this Lee Myles for a few years now and they have always been quick and efficient. So I went to lee Myles I met joe the owner and he’s the best. I went thinking I needed a new car because of all the noises I was hearing. Joe calmed me down and all I needed was brakes and rotors. He hooked me up with brakes and rotors on 4^th of July weekend for under $ 300. Thank you so much Lee Myles for saving my car and keeping my weekend alive and well your the best!!! You’ll see me again for sure!!!

It’s hard to find an honest mechanic in NY. One that won’t take a mother, sister, daughter or loved one for a ride with expenive repairs. Joe has always been honest and upfront with all expectations.
If timely honest repairs is what you need. I find Lee Myles to be one of the very best and few left in Queens. Drive safe.

Went in to service my elantra transmission. Joe was very nice, honest and professional. He order to start working on my car right away. He even offer me to check on Unilocal for coupons and gave me nice discount plus free diagnosis of my car and breaking systems.
I ask to be present and look what they were doing (i like to learn) and they went above my expectations, explaining every step being done.
Price is reasonable for the great workmanship.
They do a very good and clean work.

Joe promptly drove my beat up Jeep around a few times, testing the transmission solenoids. He was eventually able to communicate with a of them via a handheld computer and somehow spark them back into function.
No charge. He wouldn’t even take the cash tip I offered. What a guy.

Stopped by here a couple of month ago after month of experiencing a form of shuddering from my car, not knowing where the problem lies.
Been to a couple of top notch reviewed mechanic recommended by user on Unilocal and honestly non have exceeded my expectation than the Lee Myles located at Hillside Queens. 5 mechanic shops I’ve been to have told me false information and I have spend almost 3k getting various parts replaced. Such parts were front left and right tie rod, front and back rubber bushing, rear control arms and were so quick to determine that that’s what was needed to be replaced
Had my 2008 Subaru Legacy 2.5 Limited Gt transmission fixed at this fine mechanic establishment 2 months ago and so far everything has checked out. Dino who have been working at this particular Lee Myles for 30+ years did everything in his professionalism to fix my failing transmission. He determined and personal showed me in person that my valve body, planetary gears and torque converter were all damaged. The car took about 1 week to fix and test drive. My car has never run smoother.
The owner and employees of this shop have been courteous, thorough and honest. I will be a loyal customer for years to come.

Went there thinking I had a expensive transmission problem. Joe insisted on having me check the car first and good thing he did. All i needed was a transmission sensor. A few dollars later joe fixed my car 100%. First class establishment and great customer service
