This is the kinda roadside local spot that cool normal people will love and appreciate or tight a**es complain about. The food is great no matter what you get. Conclusion if you walk around with a stick up your ass this is not the place fore you. Everyone else I highly recommend it.

Good cheap breakfasts and lunch. Ice cream is good, soups and chowder are homemade and delicious. There are many fancier breakfast and lunch places, but you cannot beat the quality of the food at the prices they offer. 3 eggs, home fries, wheat toast, 3 strips of bacon and coffee for $ 7. Thats really good

I love the old school diner charm. One of those hard to find retro place. Everything on the menu is cheap, homemade, and no frills. Booths, tables, and counters are as old as they can be. This is the kind of diner that gives you real egg whites in your egg white scrambler. If you want a mimosa with your overpriced salmon hash, this is not the place for you. They make their own ice cream. Grab your friends and family. Order the big bowl. of ice cream. It is supposed to be huge with all the toppings you want. Also, you may want to leave your expensive jacket in the car. Your clothes will smell like a diner when you are done with your breakfast or lunch but hey, that’s part of the charm too. Definitely worth checking out.

Haven’t been here in a few years & decided to give it another try. I realize that this is an old diner but it just not clean enough for my liking. We had to ask the server to wipe down the counter after we sat down. She took our order quickly but it took about 20 minutes for our food to come out. Breakfast needs to come out quicker than that. I had 2 scrambled eggs, grilled English muffin, sausage & home fries. Food was good but the person I was with had a hair in their food. Not sure if I will be returning.

Went here for breakfast today with the girlfriend. Waitress was excellent and I thought everything was ok… until I got home. 45 minutes after I ate all hell broke loose. Headache, nausea, diarrhea. …had to spend the rest of the day in bed. Also, the place was poorly ventilated and humid. We had to wash our clothes when we got home because we stunk like burnt grease… not sure what happened but I was sick for 12 hours.

Was back home in Randolph last week and we came here a couple times for breakfast. I grew up coming here(mostly for Ice Cream) it was super nostalgic for me coming back here, especially since I went with my Nana who is 91 and used to work at Stanneys in the 60’s! There is nothing Fancy here, its a diner. Who cares what it looks like, I personally loved the old school décor and seating. It was clean, our waitress both times was a complete doll, and the food was SCRUMPTIOUS. Happy to see places that were important in my life are still alive and well! VERYYUMMYFOOD! I will for sure be back when I visit home again in the spring!

This is an old school diner. If your looking for a fancy smancy breakfast/lunch place go somewhere else. If you want great home-cooked food then like Bob Barker used to say«Come on down». Like many other reviews have stated the décor has not changed since Kennedy was president. But who cares! I think it works. I love sitting at the stools right when you walk in. With the old school booths all around and the same wallpaper since… well you get the point. The food is great. I love, love, love the home fries! I’ve been eating breakfast here for years. They have really great specials here for a ridiculously low price. They have lunch here too. The Turkey club is delish although i feel it might be a wee bit too small. Fries are good. Also, What i think is excellent is you can get ice cream here all year round. Oh yeah baby! The hours are a bit strange. Mon-wed 7 – 2:30. Thursday-Saturday 7 – 7 and on Sunday it’s 7 – 1. Definitely a 4 star diner in my opinion. Go get yourself some of those home fries. Mmmmm

I know there are a few 1 star reviews of Stanney’s and I’m not here to tell those folks they a are wrong. Stanney’s is from a time gone by. I toured Stanney’s ice cream making on kindergarten and I’m 47 years old. Stanney’s and Friendly’s used to be competitors before Hershey bought out Friendly’s and then closed most of them down. Other than the siding on the outside of the building Stanney’s hasn’t changed in 50 years. If you’re looking for an angus beef burger with asiago cheese and chives, this isn’t the place for you… If you’re looking for organic eggs prepared as Gordon Ramsey would with a side of corn fed sausage and kale garnish, then go someplace else. If you’re looking for some good food and great ice cream served as it was in the days of Sha-na-na, and expect to see a little deuce coupe pull up then you’re at the right place. I love taking my family to Stanney’s so they can sip on a Raspberry Line Rickie and spin on the stools. Hipsters just aren’t going to like this place. It’s a diner, not a fine dining restaurant. Families will love it(they are packed every Sunday)! Come to Stanney’s and have a great time!

Friggin Nightmare of a place! We went here after being told they were great for breakfast. We walk in, there are a bunch of people standing in the entrance area. According to a local patron, apparently it’s seat yourself, even if the table is not cleared, just go stand near it and they’ll come over and clean it off. Ok, that wouldn’t be an issue if the staff paid attention to the fact that you were standing there for 5 freaking minutes easily with no one coming over ever. It’s a fairly large establishment with just 2 wait staff. I get you might be understaffed today, but acknowledge the fact that we’re waiting! I don’t care how good the food may be… the service was horrible. We decided to leave and go elsewhere. We’re all glad we did.

Green eggs and ham was a story told by Dr. SEUSS… it was also what Stanneys was serving for breakfast this Monday morning(subsituting the ham for hash). My brother(his first time there and my second) ordered us takeout. At first he was excited until he tasted his food and then discovered the buried green eggs. Since eggs are supposed to be yellow I called. Woman on the phone: «is it bad? It is? oh its lettuce. it wont get you sick» Not once did she mutter the«s» word or offered to make it over. No apology, no empathy and absolutely no customer service. Who does that? Its 2014 you can literally learn customer service from youtube and alternatively my review. «Im sorry for that… bring it back and well make you something else» thats all that had to be said. but she was too busy defending the eggs that she couldnt/didnt want to see. As for the rest of the food… the pancakes were big and tough, the hash and homefries were not crispy(as we asked) and i couldnt finish my food. My brothers green eggs scared me skinny. I will not go back and/or reccommend. Instead try toast of the town in randolph, kristens in braintree, or your own kitchen. I did get icecream for later and thats why im giving Stanneys one star… oh wait 1 star is the default, huh?

Great place for a fast inexpensive breakfast or lunch. The Stanney burger is a good alternative to the fast food chains. A great variety of ice cream too.

Extremely slow service, but the food was cheap and good. Waited 20 mins for a refill. If you’ve got a hour to eat your food it’s a goo place to go

Cheap, fast breakfast and lunch with friendly staff. I haven’t had the ice cream because I always came for breakfast for lunch… but the breakfast and lunch are tasty. I don’t care that the inside is worn out. It just doesn’t matter when I want my corned beef hash well done and they actually do it right. UPDATE: They now accept credit cards.

Stepping in this place is like being back in the 80s. Breakfast was decent and cheap.

This was my favorite place to eat ice cream as a kid. My grandpa used to bring my brothers and I after we finished a soccer game.(Whether we won or lost we always got a sundae!) The red 50’s style booths are great. A real old fashioned feel here. I usede to bring all my friends and kinda show the place off as if it were my own. I have to admit the sundae sizes have decreased over the years and sometimes the hours aren’t accurate or the power goes out but I do still have a special spot in my heart for this place. :-)

If you’re going to Stanney’s, you’re going to get a good food at a great price. Nothing on the menu costs more than $ 5.95(save for the steak breakfast). Good portions, consistent food, and ice cream. A great neighborhood greasy spoon!

It’s a family restaurant with local charm. I go here with friends and family all the time. Even stuck with it when it changed hands a few years back. Not much has changed since I started going over twenty years ago. The booths are still vinyl, there counters and kitchen are visable from the seating, and the staff is friendly. The only thing that has changed is the wallpaper. The menu is still pretty much the same. Breakfast, lunch, and ice cream. The lunch specials are always great in taste and portion. Usually you can get meatloaf from the lunch specials. I like get a BLT or french toast. When I get ice cream it’s always peppermint stick — they are one of the few places that carry it. Oh! And they sell Christmas trees during December. Always a nice selection of trees. Just picked up our tree last night for twenty five bucks.

Yes, the décor is from 50 years ago and the booths may be a little used, but it adds to the charm. I may be one of the youngest in the place but it is all worth it. The breakfasts and lunches here are good. The prices are even better and after wards, you can get some ice cream. I generally go with the parents but sometimes, if I am back in Holbrook, I stop by.
