I’ve been going to Mack Eye Clinic for a few years. The wait time there is terrible. They over schedule all the time. My time is just as valuable as theirs. Will not be returning.

I took my Mother to Dr. Robert Mack in Hoffman Estates, IL to discuss her increasing difficulty with double vision. Dr. Mack said he does not specialize in double vision, but could refer us to a doctor. During Dr. Mack’s exam he indicated a lens from a past cataract procedure was needing a maintenance type procedure. Dr. Mack said the lens can move and cause great discomfort. At that time my Mother had no discomfort. He indicated the laser procedure would take only few minutes. There was no dialog about alternative methods or risk to the eye.
The follow up appointment, after the laser procedure, resulted in blurry vision to the eye. Dr. Mack suggested glasses before even looking at the eye to see if there was a problem. Prior to the procedure my Mother could see clearly, even with the double vision, but the procedure resulted in blurry vision in that eye. I was surprised and concerned.
I asked Dr. Mack how this happened and why this risk was not discussed prior to the procedure. Dr. Mack responded in an agitated manner as if his work is being questioned. He treated us as if we were ungrateful and talked to us as if needing glasses was the problem. He literally said «I am ready to open Champaign and celebrate because I saved your mom from blindness.» When I said, «I didn’t expect blurry vision», he replied with «Neither did I» and walked out of the room leaving us confused.
Dr. Mack never mentioned possible blindness in the previous visits. We felt Dr. Mack should have been more detailed about the laser procedure and covered possible risks. This experience was so unnerving that we will no longer see Dr. Mack and seek another ophthalmologist.
The majority of Dr. Mack’s procedures are probably successful and end with satisfied patients, but if you are not satisfied there is no reassurance or discussion.

After years of wearing glasses and struggling to wear contacts, I was referred to Dr Mack for PRK (a type of lasik) visits leading up the surgery were great, quick and thorough. The day of the procedure went smoothly, and just a week later I have no pain and can see ²⁰⁄₂₀ in both eyes. Would highly recommend. Dr Mack knows his stuff and is very professional. His visits with you may be quick but he’s a busy man with lots of paitents.

I’ll keep it short. Mine is a long story that went on for years. Mack was good in the 90’s but the 90’s are long gone. If he tells you to get eyelid surgery to fix dry eyes that may or may not have been caused by Lasik, run very fast. Do yourself a favor and stay away from him.

If I could give «0» stars I would. They don’t value YOUR time in this office. On my first appointment, I waited 50 mins to see Dr. Shaw. After going thru the exam and figuring out my prescription, I ordered new glasses at a local boutique only to discover the script was wrong. I went back for a «recheck» with Dr. Shaw, only to wait 35 mins before I decided to walk out the door. The office is always full and it feels to me like they stack up patients to make more $$$. If you have lots of time on your hands, then this is a good place for you. Good luck.

I wish a big fat ZERO was an option. This guys is unprofessional, and uses profanity regularly when he thinks nobody can hear. He is disrespectful and uninformative with his diagnosis. Eventually all of his BS will catch up to him. Karma is a B!

First time I saw Dr. Mack he was very nice, actually he was taking his time with me. The glasses they made for me was all wrong, I got my money back.
My next visit, after one year passed by, I had to do a field vision test. I had to go back three times for the same test because they just did not get it right.
My husband went to see him, he was overbooked. He told my husband he needs a surgery. We went for a second opinion and a 3^rd one too, guess what, he does not need a surgery!
Stay away from this place! The billing department personell is not very helpful eather, she is not even listening just reading whatever is on her computer…

Had a scheduled appointment at 2:15 was asked to arrive early to fill out paperwork so arrived at 1:50. The front staff was unfriendly no smile stone faced. As I looked around I noticed the carpet was disgustingly dirty there were old spills and stains. There were displays with glasses the glasses were filled with dust webs were spread thru them. I’m walking to the bathroom noticed every staff remember I came across looked unhappy. The women’s bathroom was visibly dirty the hand sink had mold and mildew that was settled along the knobs and faucet. Back to the waiting there was a water station that was dried out with lime residue all around. The chair next to mine looked like someone had urinated on it and it dried leaving a stain. The place was overall disgusting! We waited for about 45 minutes then escorted to what we thought would be the doctor well no it was an assistant she did her thing then asked us to go to a different waiting room yup waiting and waiting an hour passed we were then escorted to another exam room told the doctor would be with us next I asked how long she replied 10 minutes. Well 20 minutes later he walks in dr Mack, a complete arrogant ass. He asked my husband who he used to see my husband relied then I stated that the only reason he’s switching was due to the 1 hour 45 minute wait time which he curtly replied «well I can give u names of doctors that you don’t have to wait for they are all no good» so for this idiot of a doctor it’s okay to book patients so close together that they wait 2 hours to see the great Oz??? He suggested to my husband that he should how back in 3 months to check if he’s lost side vision… he is a suspect for glaucoma he doesn’t have has been using drops for 2 years it’s borderline. I asked what good that would do a 3 month visit the assistant replied «well to check, it’s the doctors recommendation» I asked will he be able to prevent side loss vision «no» so again why a 3 month check up the insurance pays 2 check ups every six months her reply was cause that’s the recommendation. Needless to say we are not going back!!! Stay away from this miserable office with this arrogant egotistical jerk as a doctor.

Stay far far away from Mack Eye Center. Been going there every week for 12 straight weeks to get a contact lense made and they still can’t get it right. My eye has been scratched from poorly made contacts they have giving me and now need to go somewhere else from Mack Eye Centers lack of knowledge and care. No services have been rendered or completed and they won’t refund me for their mistakes. My eye is much worse now then when I started. I’m not only going to file complaints but now have to get lawyers involved all due to Macks negligence. Stay from away and don’t let them take your hard earned money like they did me and others from the sound of it.

We went to this eye doctor for eye exams and glasses. He conducted an unusual amount of tests. He ran up bills for my wife and I that were over $ 1000 on just tests. I have never had that happen before. His office attempted to make my glasses three times and each time I couldn’t see out of them. The optician there mentioned that they had made mistakes in the measurements and even one time used the wrong prescription. After that they gave up and said we can’t help you. Please go somewhere else to get your glasses. But they still stuck us with the bills and we had nothing to show for it. Soon afterwards we found a new eye doctor that agreed that the test Dr Mack ran were not necessary and were easily fitted with glasses without any hassle and exorbitant fees.
