Horrible place. Below is a horrible review about dr. Jen. I will 100 agree with everything you said. I also bought my dog at petland and I have been fighting them the whole time. I got a second opinion at vsc as well I know them very well. Dr Jen said my 5 month old puppy had 2 severed acls n would need surgery costing 2500 to 2700 a knee. Which she made him have 3 xrays n a bunch of other pills n that totally almost 700 dollars not to mention because of the meds they put him on he was dehydrated from having horrible diarrhea which I called dr Jen about n she said keep him on it… ended up at an emergency vet… Contacted Jennifer in claims who was very nice but ultimately did nothing. I also felt bullied by them now they r trying to offer help for blood work he needs done. They only care about money never had such a bad experience with a vets total disregard for an animal…

This review is for Dr. Scott Jarrett only. I have never been to this facility before, but I did see him in Arlington Heights when he worked in the ER. He saved my cats life using as minimal costly procedures and tests as possible. He also checked up on him through phone calls and scheduled office followup visits over the next couple months following the incident. Great Doctor!!! This was in 2008. I stumbled upon the ER report yesterday which prompted me to find him to review him and thank him if he ever sees this. Sorry I have not gone to this facility, but I think they deserve this 5 star rating just for having Dr. Jarret or Dr. Scott… whichever you want to refer to him as. Here is my story:
My now cat was found outside in 2008 and was already fixed and completely de-​clawed so he was obviously someone’s cat at one point. My neighbor who is allergic to cats was trying to call around to find a suitable home for him since he was trying to sleep in her garage each night for the past month. He was very sweet, but she is allergic and can’t handle him to get him out in the mornings when he managed to sneak in the night before (He is super loving and just wants to roll around by your feet and rub against your legs when he sees you so you can imagine how hard it was for her to keep away from him). Anyways, just making it clear he didn’t have a home and I did not take someone’s outdoor oddly clawless cat… I also made signs for store bullitons later and called the police department, but no one claimed him. So once she told us about him I went outside to look for him and saw him right away and we have been best buds ever since. I fell in love with him instantly. :)
I took him to wheeling animal hospital the next day since a clawless cat should not be outside with raccoons and coyotes and the first visit is free there. I wanted to get him checked out to make sure he didn’t have diseases or fleas. I planned to let him stay in my basement until I found him a home since my family already had a 15 year old cat living in my home who we had since he was kitten (also found him outside). The hospital assumed he was 7 or 8, gave him a rabies shot, a distemper shot, a flea treatment, and checked for ear mites.
The next day he seemed very disoriented and was walking around like a drunken idiot. Later that night he started throwing up stomach bile, could barely walk, then his eyes started going left to right back and forth continuously like something was very wrong with him. We brought him to Care Animal Hospital/​Animal ER since they are close to our home and 24 hours. We saw Dr. Jarrett and told him what was going on and what shots and treatments he got. Since he was a stray we did not want to spend a fortune on him and he understood completely. I was also 19 and planning on paying for this myself (my awesome dad did help me out though since he secretly loves my cat). He admitted him and gave him IV fluids overnight while monitoring him closely and only giving him a few types of medications. I was able to pick him up the next day with a scheduled routine/​care plan from Dr Jarrett. Mr no-​named kitty (literally what he was referred to as) was still a little disoriented and his eye movements calmed down tremendously. He was much better than the night before!
Dr. Jarrett called the following day to check on him. He wasn’t eating so he had me bring him in for a «follow up.» I say «follow up» since I did not have to pay for the visit nor an additional two «follow up» visits over the next month. Not sure if these really were considered follow up visits or if he really just wanted to help me get this cat back up and healthy, but it was fantastic! He also informed me that Mr no-​named kitty had some type of reaction to an unknown toxin and noted possible causes on his chart to avoid the issue in the future. He suspected the flea treatment though. Anyways, he gave him an appetite enhancer and advised me to try giving him some tuna over the next few weeks to encourage him to eat. It worked! A month later, we decided to keep him (now named) as our own since our 15 year old cat had died from kidney failure. Mr Kitty was able to walk around my home and go up and down the stairs just fine after a month though it did take about 6 months for him to fully recover.
I have Dr. Jarrett to thank for the opportunity to have had this beautiful friendly cat as my own for the past 7 years and hopefully many more. Dr. Jarrett is very kind and truly cares for his animal patients. Not only was he the best Dr my cat has ever had, I believe he also guessed his age correctly. Everyone thought he was 7 or 8, but Dr. Jarett thought he was 5 or 6 just by looking at his eyes. After 7 years and watching him age, I believe my cat now looks 12 or 13 which would be dead on with Dr. Jarett’s estimate. I would highly recommend him to anyone! Thank you Dr Jarrett!!! :)

I absolutely love this place. My dogs have always been very well taken care of. Especially with Dr Shanali, however, all of the Vets are amazing. We lost both of our elderly dogs this year and they treated us with a great deal of compassion and care. Prices are reasonable and their hours are great. They are now even open on Sunday. My brother is a Vet in another state and I don’t let just anyone deal with my animals so this is the place to go!

Our 2 big dogs have been getting wonderful care here for a couple years now. Whether it’s a quick and easy shot or an all day appointment like for neutering, we trust this office completely.
Dr Scott couldn’t be any more patient, supportive, and informative. The dogs absolutely love him and look forward to a visit with him

I took my dog there after we moved from out of state. I wanted a puppy flu shot for her. I got and paid for the first shot and was never called to remind me about coming in for the second shot. I was busy trying to get my dog to a vet specialist because she had just gone blind. When I could finally get back to the clinic, they said I would have to pay again for the vaccines! Not a good place if you have better standards than they do.

DO NOT SEE DR JEN! My dog had a TTA procedure, he had already needed the same surgery a year prior and I went with a TPLO surgery although more expensive had great results and amazing facility in Buffalo grove (vsc). The day of surgery I found out he didn’t have over night care and Dr. Jen’s response pretty much stated that I get what you pay for. I regreted going there ever since, my dog still is having issues with his leg. On his final x-​ray visit the tech asked how was he doing so I mentioned why he was limping. Dr. Jen walks in the room and telling another employee to tell a patient that she had other patients and she’s going to have to wait or see her regular doctor. The Jen then looked at his leg and roughly looked at his paw. I really thought it was associated with the leg he got operated on. She asked if I wanted her to take x-​rays of his paw. I asked for price and then told her I’ll take him to his regular vet to get seen about his paw, I just wanted to get done what I was there for. She took him for the x-​rays and after that offered pills and they were up front waiting for me. I didn’t ask for them, I was being charged $ 125 when I didn’t ask for anything extra. I was shocked! Dr. Jen was stating that I had to pay since she cared for his paw. She didn’t! I have never been conned or forced to pay. We were going back and forth and Dr Jen was twisting my words, I felt bullied and left in tears. How horrible! My dog had been limping since I took him to the dog beach, and I had said he was fine until that day but I was referring to him not limping. 5 months later he still cannot do extensive exercise without his leg hurting. She wouldn’t even let me explain. I don’t know how the other doctors are but this lady is a BULLY! She was calling me a liar, that my story had now changed which is not true. Please don’t take the cheap route, it’s not worth it. You get what you pay for, and if that’s how she treats me I can imagine how she treated my dog. She said it herself, smh.

I went to this vet when I got a puppy because it was close to my home. We first saw Dr. Scott was was fantastic! He was so sweet and helpful and welcoming. We went back when my dog had an eye problem and saw Dr. Jen who told us it was cherry eye and could be corrected when my dog got neutered. A few months later we brought my puppy back to be neutered, have his cherry eye fixed, and have his stomach tacked. 2 hours after we had to drop him off Dr. Jen calls to say she was wrong about his eyes and she can’t fix them as she doesn’t do that surgery. Now my dog has to go to a different vet for a second surgery I was hoping to avoid for his sake and because it will obviously cost more money. Then to top it off 1 month after my dog had his staples removed from surgery I noticed 3 staples that had not been removed. What sort of sloppy vet leaves staples in a dog. When I took him back to have them removed they were rude and unapologetic. Needless to say we are going elsewhere.

I’ve worked with 3 of their veterinarians and all are very good, but unfortunately their work has been undermined by the support staff who have on multiple occasions made careless mistakes. If you speak to anyone other than the vets, make sure you get the name of the person because sometimes the right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing and the first question you’ll be asked is who did you speak to or who told you that?

One of the best vets I have ever gone to. Have been coming for 6 years. Love all of the Drs. My whole family comes with their pets now.

Just over 1 year ago Dr Shalini Emmanual saved my little Charlotte’s life. Charlotte. (aka Gucci) was left at the clinic by her owner because she could not afford to treat her. She was very sick with parvo. Dr Shalini continued to treat & ended up saving her life. I adopted her and I couldnt imagine life today with out her! A BIG THANK YOU goes out to Dr Shalini & all the techs as well for loving her till she found her furever home with me:) Today she’s happy & healthy

My Dog had his teeth cleaned 7÷29÷2014. We picked up our dog and he was crying the whole way home. In the middle of our trip home we realize his butt is full of poop. and he has a huge bruise on his stomach. This is how are dog is taken care of? We won’t EVER be back. You shouldn’t go here either!!!

Dr. Scott is my favorite there! He’s always so caring and gives great recommendations. Best of all, he’s honest and not pushy.
The only con I have is the parking lot.
It’s tiny and the way it’s set up makes it hard to back out & leave sometimes.

Sanitation violations, sanitation violations sanitation violations! My husband and I purchased a puppy from Petland in hoffman estates, barrington square animal hospital is on the list of vets they recommend for the initial wellness check. We were able to get a quick appointment, dr. Jen was very nice and professional despite being 45 minutes late to our appointment. We were left for that wait time sitting in a filthy exam room. Terrible! Before you schedule here, think twice. I have never seen worse conditions in a vets office.

Finding a good vet is really difficult. This is a good one. I now live close to an hour away from this vet and still travel to bring my pup.
They are knowledgeable, love animals, and provide compassionate care for pets. They provide many different options for treatments (of varying costs) and NEVER pressure you to get expensive tests and procedures. This is a client-​centered business that have pets and their families as their top priority.
The front desk staff are extremely helpful and friendly, as are the vet technicians. I have seen multiple vets at this site and all of them are wonderful.
Dr. Jen has provided absolutely outstanding care to my elderly dog and has been particularly helpful in addressing some serious medical health setbacks that he has had (e.g., heart problems, mast cell tumor and several reoccurrences).
She always provides several different options for treatment and thoroughly explains the pros and cons of each option. She takes the time to explain and answer my questions. She is invested and CARES about the quantity and quality of my pups’ lives and is always optimistic (but reasonable) about how to move forward. I think it is probably a hard balance in providing factual information while still making clients comfortable and prepared. I feel like she balances this wonderfully. I always leave feeling like I have done all that I can do for my pets, even when the news has been bad, which is really comforting.
Dr. Dan is also an amazing vet. I saw him for the first time after I rushed my dog there when he was showing signs of a «neurological episode.» He was calm, comprehensive, and compassionate.
When I brought my dog to a neurologist, she mentioned that Dr. Dan did an outstanding and comprehensive job assessing my dog (something she said she doesn’t often comment upon), which provided a lot of useful information for the diagnostic process. He did everything she would have done.
Dr. Shalini is thorough and extremely knowledgable. She provides helpful, detailed information regarding diagnoses and treatments and always makes sure that I understand (she even brought be back to the back to show and explain my dog’s chest x-​rays, which was really helpful).

we adopted a puppy from a local shelter. The shelter uses this vet for their spays. We also decided to have the dew claws removed at the same time instead of going to our vet, so the puppy didn’t have to be put under twice.
Dr Scott did the surgery and was good. The bandages wouldn’t say on her paws they kept falling off. Then Dr Shaliani did the bandages when she changed them. She was great, they never fell off. Had them changed again by Dr Scott and they fell off again and had to go in 3 times over 24 hours to get them redone, finally by Dr Shaliani.
Was told by Dr scott to bring her in on Tuesday for stitch removal. Brought her in and Dr Jen said nope… let’s wait till Friday for the full 2 weeks even though the incisions looked good and healed. Brought our puppy in on Friday and the skin had healed around the incisions. It was painful for the puppy to have the stitches removed and it ripped open parts of her incision.
Not a good experience at all! I wouldn’t recommend this place at all. Dr Scott was nice, and Dr Shaliani was nice too. However I don’t think Dr Jen knew what she was doing. Very frustrating to hear your puppy crying in pain for something that should have been avoided.

Adopted a Rottador pup from Almost Home Foundation in September 2012 and have been taking him to Barrington Square Animal Hospital for his medical needs (One of several vets approved by Almost Home Foundation). Yesterday had our pup neutered. Dr. Adam was very polite (as well as front desk staff). Procedure took 25 minutes, puppy was back home in the afternoon. Incision looks neat, professional, and clean. They did a good job and have the compassion for animals as well. Would recommend this facility to others and I will be bringing puppy back for his future medical needs. Fair prices for services rendered… but more importantly-​they are knowledgeable in what they do.

Dr. Scott Jarrett is hands down the best vet I’ve ever come across! He is amazing with our 2 dogs! He’s not afraid to get his hands dirty. I mean he took my dogs out to pee himself for a urinalysis. All other vets I’ve been to just handed me a cup and sent me and my dogs on our way. That’s how I knew he is the real deal. He truly goes out of his way to make his patients feel comfortable through his genuine kindness, openness to answer any questions, willingness to have candid conversations on what vaccines and tests are really necessary, what procedures should really be done, etc. He doesn’t focus on just getting your pets in and out of the clinic. He takes the time to understand what your needs are in caring for your pet and does his best to support whatever you feel is best for them. He doesn’t push you to get unnecessary tests or vaccines. His honesty and candidness is refreshing. You won’t find a better vet anywhere!

We have 3 dogs and have been very happy with Barrington Square. Dr. Scott is amazing! He is very patient and kind and always makes my husband and I (and the pups :)) feel like we are a priority!

This is a great vet clinic… as long as you see Dr. Scott Jarrett. The desk staff and the techs have always been great to us and our dog. Dr. Scott has been our dog’s doctor since he was 12 weeks old and you can tell he loves his patients as much as you do, and doesn’t do any unneeded tests or medications. He is always happy to answer questions and is very prompt in returning phone calls. He helped our pup get over a bout with a nasty parasite, kennel cough, and a twisted elbow with his diligence and expertise.
On a different note, we have had a couple BAD experiences with Dr. Shalini Emmanuel. She has terrible bedside manner and tends to scare you with the worst case scenario. Take your pet in for a cold and she may recommend lifelong medication for a congenital disease and do at least five expensive tests… did you know vets get paid from tests they run?
Anyhow, great animal hospital, just make sure to make your appointment with Dr. Scott!

We followed Dr. Scott Jarrett to Barrington Square Animal Hospital when he moved. Initially, we thought about finding a new practice closer to home but his amazing relationship with our pets won… so now we travel a bit to get to him. Dr Scott has helped us through a difficult diagnosis, treatment and the eventual decision to end the suffering of our dog. Throughout the process he has been an informative, compassionate, and patient professional. We continue to vivit the practice with our 2 cats.
He and the entire staff of Barrington Square Animal Hospital are amazing. I highly recommend them! We are still broken hearted over our dog, but when we are ready to add a new dog to the family our first stop will be an introduction to Barrington Square.
